  1. I was told two different things. One person told me they were visiting a garden out in La Cristina on June 3. Another person told me they usually meet on the third Wednesday of each month. Can someone confirm the exact date in June, please?
  2. My mandolin slicer. I bought one at the everything store in Ajijic, and I use it almost every day!
  3. The fires started on the north side of the mountain range above the eastern end of Ajijic. Then it spread to the south-facing side of those mountains. It's been mostly contained to the area between Chula Vista Norte and Ajijic Centro. I haven't heard any choppers for the last 18 hours or so, so I'm hoping they have it mostly out now.
  4. Tio Corp in Mirasol prepares Canadian tax returns.
  5. Someone mentioned on a Facebook group that there was also a fire in an empty lot in Cielo Vista today!
  6. "Expecting folks to just sit at home and wait days/weeks for their installers to show.... even in Mexico.... is a stretch and surely not the sign of an organized 'office'. " RickS, every telecom company I've ever dealt with, here and in Canada, operates the same way. They tell you they will be there between 8 am and 5 pm on a particular day, and if you're very lucky, they might show up that day at 5:30 pm. Sometimes they don't show up at all. And as far as repairs or tech service, I've heard many horror stories about Telmex. Every new company is bound to have some problems here and there. For the most part, I've heard that Ilox subscribers are generally happy with their service and speed.
  7. When I originally signed up for the service, the woman in the office circled the channels that were supposed to be in English on the sheet that shows all of the channels available.
  8. I've been hooked up for about a month on the TV/internet package. Unfortunately, they promised eight English channels and I'm not getting any. Set up two different appointments for the tech guy to come out, but both times he was a no show. I'd like to know if others that have been hooked up are receiving any English channels. TIA
  9. My iPad works with my Ilox hookup. Like RV said, you have to go to your settings on the iPad or phone, click on WiFi, then click on your Ilox network and enter your password.
  10. There's a shop inside Casa Colon, the concept store that also houses Dharma, the restaurant. They sell copper plates, bowls, sinks, etc. It's on the northeast corner of Colon and Zaragoza in Ajijic. Closed on Tuesdays.
  11. That's a wonderful good news story! You said you didn't want to mention the man's name in case he would get in trouble with his company, but then you mentioned the company name. If they were to read this, they would know exactly who you're talking about anyway. They know who was on duty to service those machines on this particular day.
  12. Our Easter lily plant (growing outdoors in the ground) has been blooming for a few weeks now.
  13. Great idea! Make them just as visible as the 'No Smoking' signs!
  14. ibarra, you should ask the homeowners in El Dorado about how bylaws need a vote of the residents to be changed 'legally'. They'll tell you the horror story of their fight for the last 8 or 9 years!
  15. gringohombre, I was in the Ilox office, and the woman there told me that there were only about 9 or 10 channels in English. The rest are in Spanish with English subtitles.
  16. It's not a matter of 'false pride' or the notion that it 'ages' you for many people like myself. It's a matter of not being able to afford decent hearing aids, plain and simple. If I could find a hearing aid that I could afford, and it actually worked, I'd be wearing it with pride!
  17. Hmmmm, several Fox channels, but no CBS, ABC or NBC?
  18. Did you ever stop to think that some of us who need hearing aids can't afford to get them? I'd love to be able to hear conversations clearly!
  19. What holds the overdenture in place while you are chewing food? Wouldn't it be popping out all the time?
  20. 120 pesos for a glass of wine? No thanks! Now I know why it's always empty when I walk past it.
  21. It's been open for about a week now. I haven't tried it yet, but whatever they're cooking smelled very good as I walk past the place. Sorry that I can't help you with more info at this time.
  22. I like the Chicken Pad Thai at Tepetate because instead of using peanut sauce, they use tamarind sauce. Delicious! And a huge serving. I can get three meals out of one order!
  23. I prefer the food at Tepatate Thai. Love their Chicken Pad Thai and their crispy vegetable rolls, especially!
  24. The way that I read his last paragraph in the original post made it sound like that......"It is a good idea to make sure that when you use any of the aforementioned forms that you use the new ones as using the old ones may cause a delay or rejection when you do any business with the National Immigration Institute or INAMI. It is unknown when immigration / airports / border crossings will have the new forms available as well as if there will be any grace period for use of old forms" I just wanted to make sure that I had the correct information from Spencer himself. I hope that's alright with you RVGRINGO.
  25. So Spencer, are you saying that all of us that temporal or permanente visas need to get new cards now? And if so, is there going to be a charge for that?
