  1. We are looking for a driver ( we supply car ) for daily scheduled trips from Riberas to Chapala. Does not have to speak any English. Thanks for any recommendations
  2. I'd venture to say that San Antonio is probably the loudest of the local villages, there's almost always loud music somewhere and cohetes of course. As soon as the newly built eventos center gets going there will be another rental available here
  3. Thanks Do you know if the owner can leave the vehicle here while they travel back nob temporarily, or do they have to take it with them ?
  4. Are ten year permits still available for RV's ? If so, what is the definition of an RV ? Could a campervan qualify ? Thanks
  5. Gringo market rent can be in dollars or pesos. It's just what the market will allow
  6. Unless you are able to sign a super long term lease ( extremely rare), the landlord can simply say he wants his house back for whatever reason at the end of the lease and then be able to rent it out for much more than the %5 allowed by law. We are facing this exact situation with our Mexican landlord who now wants "gringo" market rent. Consider yourself lucky to find a nice house ( not condo or apartment )for less than $800 per month.
  7. I wonder if anyone built a "hombre de nieve" ?
  8. Most homes here are priced in dollars and a strengthening peso will only make those properties a better buy than ones priced in pesos. Of course the opposite is true if the peso weakens again
  9. I heard some from here is SA, but then our dog started to mimic the sound..hilarious
  10. We "adopted" out other cat which lived on this same street ( now spends about 50% of time with us ) as well as her brother and 3 other cats who still live outside, this is the first disappearance that we know of. Now that I think about it, a fox is the most likely explanation especially since they have a natural path in the arroyo from the mountains to our street. I just didn't know about a fox being a threat here, I hope al the street cats are aware and cautious.
  11. We live in San Antonio, but our street is where an arroyo ends. One of our cats just vanished into thin air and I can't come up with a reasonable explanation other that a predator took her. She was a perfectly healthy mature cat very skittish about venturing out. No car traffic on our street
  12. Yes, saw that yesterday. In retrospect I think just having some of those yellow buttons separating the bike path from the road would be a good compromise, then cars could pull over into the bike lane for emergencies. Eliminating the parking on one side will make a big difference I think
  13. Speaking of new roads, every time we drive to Manzanillo around Colima we see what looks to be a new highway of to the right with many very tall bridges. I never see any cars on it though. I'm hoping it will be a new link to Manzaillo and will eliminate the bottleneck through the mountains with trucks going 10mph and no way to pass them.
  14. We were there too weeks ago and loved it. Our drive back took 4 hours. Temps were still a little on the high side but we were camping without A/C. Major road construction at La Manzilla and beyond going on right now
  15. We were hiking in the Ajijic mountains today and one flew directly overhead, at least they didn't hover around in circles
  16. There should definitely be dedicated parking for the disabled on the side where parking is allowed, but that's a whole different subject which has been brought up before which is the gross abuse of these parking spots being used by people that don't actually need those spots, even if they have a sticker or plaque of some kind. Add a safe pedestrian crossing other than at the main intersection is also needed ( with imbedded flashing lights ) There's always going to be some amount of mobility required to get from the disabled parking spot to the businesses But allowing indefinite parking is a recipe for abuse. I've seen disabled cars (with wheels off) parked along that section of Hidalgo.
  17. If there is no parking allowed on the north side of Hidalgo then I think there is enough room for a small pedestrian walkway AND a small dedicated bike path. This will leave enough room on the road for cars to pull over to allow emergency vehicles to pass. Sorry, but I value a safe bike path over the right to park a car. There is no reason to allow parking on both sides of Hidalgo for the narrow section through Chapala.
  18. Sounds reasonable to me, maybe there are lower prices but a round trip to more than one location with translation in GDL is well worth the 1500. $1000 for the consultation itself is only slightly above average but not by much for a quality specialist
  19. The reality is that there is much less of a need for Roja here because 1) all cars have knock sensors will prevent any damage to the motor which really only occurs under full load and at low rpms, rarely seen puttering around lakeside 2) at this altitude engines don't need a super high octane. This is why in Colorado they sell much lower octane fuel across the board. Premium in Colorado is 89 if I'm not mistaken
  20. If there were a large parking garage in Chapala with free electric shuttles there wouldn't be a need for parking on both sides of Hidalgo. How many of the cars parked on Hidalgo belong to people that work nearby and not are customers, most I think. They should have kept the payed parking system imo, with the first 30 minutes free There is a large space for a parking structure right next to parke Cristiania Biking on the Malecon is not easy and requires zigzagging around pedestrians. There has to be safe route for bikes on Hidalgo.
  21. Don't forget to look for "litros completos" gas stations lol
  22. Erin Dixon is excellent and is US trained as the OP requested Visit 4aspects.net for contact info.
  23. They probably don't make much money on eventos, but the capital investment is also minimal , so I'm afraid the little income it does produce will be enough to keep it going unfortunately. It was a very nice corn field before this.
