  1. I have Telcel, but for our home, it's not cost effective. Since we cut cable and use a Firestick for TV, the internet speed matters. So, the providers that are available don't offer what we need.
  2. It may be expensive, but if it works.... Meanwhile, we're stuck w/TELMEX until TotalPlay comes our way. I would gladly pay Starlink's price if they were up and running. Our internet service blows, but it's the only thing available att.
  3. Thanks for the info about what's needed, but I'm hoping to do it here in Chapala. Having said that, I can also go to the mall. Could you please give me the link to make the appointment? Thanks!
  4. Call me a technodino (I am) or just clueless (ditto), but could someone please give a quick breakdown of what's needed to renew your driver's license? I tried the search button and even went to the otb, but the links didn't work and the info I did find was for a new license. Much TIA.
  5. I used it for this year's taxes with no problems. Stupid question, but did you go straight to the site? You open an account with them and then do the taxes, print, etc, I don't think there was any downloading involved since you're doing it through their site. Sorry if I'm missing anything obvious since I'm a technodino.
  6. Both have happened to us...the first happens every so often. The spot where water enters from the street (for us) has a filter on it right by the meter. Since we're at the end of the street, the little bits end up collecting and eventually clogging the flow. Since we're in CH, the workers will come, check and then empty it for us. It's a simple fix if you know what to do (but I don't). There is also a valve handle that someone turned on us one time. Check to make sure that it's not shut off there (if you have one). Also, if you have a tinaco, check that nothing was accidentally shut off. Finally, if you have an aljibe, make sure you didn't burn out the water pump. If you were watering the garden and forgot to shut off the sprinklers (or something similar), you may have run out of water and the pump kept going until it burned out. Hope you find out what's happening and get water back. I know it's a horrible feeling when it happens.
  7. Another +++ for Luis. My laptop went toes up (ok, it was dying and I accidentally managed to put in the final stake). I thought everything was lost. Most was, but he was able to extract some info from the hard drive and put it on a memory stick for me. Fortunately, the one thing I really wanted was there. His prices are very reasonable.
  8. Is it libel if it's true??? Considering the latest (last) experience we had there, hmmmmm.... Out of genuine curiosity, isn't what you just wrote also libel? Quote analopez and saracastro7655,who hired you to come on this web board solely to write BS about and outright libel a very excellent small hospital. Unquote
  9. Don't forget that you could always use the local shopping service and order under different names (let them know what and why you're doing it). Of course, it would cost more, but depending on how much/how desperate, it'd be worth the cost (not to mention save you the hassle).
  10. Yes, because we all know how much food you can buy with your dignity.
  11. Well, that certainly hasn't changed! 😁
  12. And some of us had And while I'm truly glad you've managed to get good service there, we've had terrible service too many times to ever go back...including one life-or-death situation. Fortunately, there are other choices. (Edited to add this:) I would also like to mention that there are some absolutely top-notch hospitals in Guadalajara if the situation permits. While we don't always have a choice, if we do and it's complicated, it's nice to know that we have some world-class providers within range.
  13. Try RMC on the libramiento. I would run hard and fast from anything with HSA with very, very good reasons.
  14. They take mine. I had an order just last week and no problems.
  15. Highly recommend Opiere. We had panels put in when our electric bill went nuts. They have VERY quickly paid for themselves because we were in DAC and the bills were crazy. Now, we give a bit back to CFE and don't mind a bit as our bills are $51mxn each billing cycle. We're doing everything we can to go as all-electric as possible since gas is getting crazy, too. If it means installing two more panels (we have 20), we will. We like being able to use all of our electronics without worry and we recently added extra security lighting outside. We have to use a bit of gas for our dryer (it was supposed to be electric) and our backup generator, but once the solar water heater is installed on Tuesday, that should also drop quite a bit. If necessary, we'll also convert the kitchen appliances to electric (a bit of a pain trying to find an electric stove). If you can, go solar.
  16. Maybe next time you should just keep going. She'll either move out of the way or else you'll be doing the rest of us a favor by removing her for a (hopefully) VERY long time to come. (insert evil cackling here)
  17. Probably a lot more than we'd feel comfortable knowing about....
  18. I want to slightly hijack this topic, too, because happyjillin (above)made a really valid point. Have a medical slush fund if at all possible! You may be able to have $$$$$ or you may only be able to have $$ but have something put aside and don't touch it. The reason I jumped in here is because I want to mention that it's not all dark if you have to pay for your medical. When the hubster was admitted for emergency treatment to a hospital in Guad, I had to pay a $50,000mxn deposit upfront. By the time he was out, 6 days later, I had to pay the remaining balance. All told, it worked out to about $6500usd for a top-quality hospital, ambulance ride, two docs (one was just a cardio to test and consult due to other health conditions), and great care. We're lucky because we have insurance that covers us here and reimburses 75% (with a $3k catastrophic cap) but we still have to pay out-of-pocket first. Obviously, your particular treatment can raise things through the roof but maybe that will give you a bit of an idea of costs. I should add that if you don't have a reasonable fund set aside, don't forget that they take credit cards. ( I realize that if you're on limited funds then spending several thousand dollars may not be an option. This was just to give a reference point to US costs (not the only ones here, I know) as opposed to local costs.)
  19. I finally used them last month and couldn't be happier. The man who delivered our order was right on time and very courteous. I'll definitely use them again and have no hesitation in recommending them. Just in costs (gas, toll) alone, it's good value for Costco.
  20. Here's a link for the mailing requirements. Hope it helps! https://uploads.mwp.mprod.getusinfo.com/uploads/sites/15/2021/12/GDL-FedEx-shipping-instructions.pdf
