I finally want to get rid of my Dish Network USA. However I've been using it for so long I don't know what to replace it with. Someone mentioned Fire Stick to me. Anyone familiar with it?

I watch very little TV these days. I subscribe to Netflix. And I'd want to subscribe to a news program, probably CNN.

Does anyone have a word of advice on using Fire Stick for TV watching?

You are getting some very bad information from some of the members.  First, who is your internet provider? Second, go to Google and type "Ookla Speedtest" and run the test.  Let me know the PING number (in milliseconds) and the DOWNLOAD number (in Mbps).  The numbers will reveal what is possible on your Firestick.

If you look on Amazon Mexico there are several models available.. I have my doubts about a 4K firestick.  You need really good internet speed to stream 4K.  There are better models available than the 4K.  Unless you have a 4K TV and fast internet...

Name something better for $50 US.  The only one I can think of is the Chromecast TV.  And please don't say Roku.  They are great devices but not if you want to sideload apps.

You can never change the mind of an anti-masker. They will spend their days looking up reports that agree with their own misguided logic. We had the same baloney in 1918.... just didn't have the Internet.

You may be able to change the mind of "an" anti-masker.  You just won't change the mind of "this" anti-masker.  He's pretty much incapable of admitting error or contrition.  He just wants to "own the libs".  That's the agenda.

I actually posted three different pieces.  That was the first.

Since you want to start this again, chew on this:

    Settled science it ain't.

And "fact checks" from known biased sources are about as useful as those cloth masks.  :D

    Have fun.

You said in your original post that the study was "peer reviewed".  The study's author is a physical therapist, for f's sake.  The publication lied about his credentials (or the author did).  Why can't you just man-up and apologize for posting misleading information.  The "study" was not peer reviewed and you make yourself look very small for defending this misinformation.  Please research before you post.  It would be a great help to this forum.

Waiting for the counterattack.  You're not known for any semblance of self-reflection.

  5. The study that MC posted last week about facemasks shows that the author, Baruch Vainshelboim " is listed as part of the cardiology division at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System at Stanford University."

"But he has no affiliation with Stanford, according to the university. Stanford School of Medicine spokeswoman Julie Greicius said in a prepared statement that Stanford supports the use of face masks to control the spread of COVID-19."

"A LinkedIn account for Vainshelboim lists his profession as a clinical exercise physiologist. He did not respond to a request for comment."

"The article appeared in the journal Medical Hypotheses, which its publisher says has the purpose “to publish interesting theoretical papers.” David Gorski, a surgical oncologist who writes about medical misinformation, told The Associated Press the journal publishes "fringe science and hypotheses."

Why am I not the least bit surprised.  Here's the full article:  Fact Check

But I guess everyone has their own set of moral and ethical standards.

You should contact the Municipio de Tlajomulco after today and find out if any residents were denied access to the vaccine due to shortages.  Please post when you receive an answer.  Then we can talk about ethics and morality.

I have zero problem checking facebook but I refuse to answer stupid questions to belong to a group so I just google what I am looking for in Spanish . The facebook group does not know more than what the government is announcing.

They absolutely know more.  We went to the government site and it stated you have to be a resident of Tlajomulco Municipio to receive the Pfizer shot.  After reading stories on the Covid-19 Facebook group, we discovered that the University in Tlajomulco wasn't enforcing the residency requirement, and we got vaccinated.  Invaluable information.

All they wanted to see was the vaccine registration which has your CURP number on it.  We took all the other stuff with us just in case but it wasn't needed.  I'd take it just in case.  Google "best route Chapala to Universidad Politecnica Tlajamulco."  Take road to airport and turn off to go to Cajititlan.  You have to use a returno.  As you approach Cajititlan there will be a sign directing you to the right towards Tlajamulco.  The 4 lane road goes to town but if you look at the map you turn off before getting into the busy town center The UdeG is on the east/northeast side of town out in the farm land.  https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Chapala,+Jalisco/Universidad+Politécnica+de+la+Zona+Metropolitana+de+Guadalajara,+Carretera+Tlajomulco+-+Santa+Fé+Km.+3.5+No.595+Lomas+de+Tejeda,+45641+Tlajomulco+de+Zúñiga,+Jal./@20.45583,-103.4281593,11z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x842f40b1771f4cb7:0x73c1721b67d87f53!2m2!1d-103.1846016!2d20.3051576!1m5!1m1!1s0x842f515676ce60d1:0xf6f1b0add14f8875!2m2!1d-103.4135878!2d20.4645456!3e0   There are students on the road directing you where to turn into the campus and they will walk you through all the rest.

This is the link to the map.  Hope this helps.

If you live west of Ajijic you may want to try this route:  https://goo.gl/maps/a61w7bNpbcgZdbzd7

We went Wednesday, arriving at 1:00 and there was only one car ahead of us in the line.  The whole thing took less than 30 minutes.  They give you a Comprobante (proof of 1st visit).

To reiterate what others have said:  You must have the registration form printed from the gov. website and a copy of your CURP.  We also had our passports, visas (permanente) and a utility bill, but they only looked at the CFE bill.

The iLox modems have the slow port always as the highest number: so 4 on the 4 port, 2 on the 2 port. This is a shortcoming, as I see it, because the manufacturer saves maybe a couple of pennies and it is to our detriment (many people use 4 ports and more these days), and more so because it is not mentioned in the manuals. Almost as bad are the flimsy reprinted basic spec "manuals" provided by iLox.

Yeah, it's pretty odd to be offering speeds over 100Mbps and not have all 1000Mbps ports.  I bought this to take care of the problem:  5 port unmanaged switch

Hardwired 350 to what the Ilox modem or the TP-Link router?

Port set at 80 on the TP-Link router ? usually there is a maximum bandwidth setting but I can't help you much more than that.

    Try help files at TP-Link.

Hard wired to the Ilox modem.  Port set to 80 on Ilox modem.  I have the option on the TP Link to set Duplex to 1000Mbps, but it won't apply the settings.  It must have something to do with the router/modem handshake, or perhaps a faulty router.  Hey, thanks for your time.

There is a free PC program "Acrylic WiFi home" that will tell you what it thinks is the available wifi speed from your router.

My router is an Asus RT-AC86U and recently getting 125 mbps WiFi download speeds on my laptop; measured with nperf.com. I have the 100 mbps Ilox package.

Since you are saying all your devices are throttled to 100 mbps; is that both hard wired and Wifi?

I sort of remember hearing once that one of the ports on the Ilox modem was throttled at 100; try the other port.

Acrylic says my 5Ghz wireless max speed is 1300Mbps (from my laptop).  My Wi-Fi Adapter (Intel 3650) shows max speed of 433.3Mbps.

Hard wired I'm getting 350Mbps.  I can't find any options to change the port in the modem setup, it's currently set to 80.

  12. I have the Ilox AN5506-02-F Modem.  Is anybody using a router that is negotiating with the modem at 1000Mbps?
If so, what is the make and model of the router?  I have a TP Link Archer A9 and I can't get it to communicate with the modem at more than 100Mbps, so all my wireless devices are capped at 100Mbps. I have the 350Mpbs package with Ilox.

Look for the current price on Amazon or Mercadolibre. I bought this one over a year ago.

One caveat though. While I get 300mb wired I get 200mb down wireless on a laptop in the same room as the router.

Yeah, same thing here.  I have a TP Link router used as a Wireless Access Point and I get 95Mbps down using the 5Ghz connection.  My laptop is about 20 feet from the router.  Ethernet gives me 150Mbps down.
