  1. I use a section of fence mounted a bit away from the surface of the wall so the vines can easily wrap around. Once it's covered by the vines you can't see it anyways.
  2. I have learned that Donna has been in phone contact with you. I'll leave it to her to make the arrangements. Thank you again.
  3. Hi Beverley, we will be thrilled to pick up your donations tomorrow. Alex's uncle works as our manager and has a small pickup. We also have a young strong resident fellow from Australia that's willing to help Chuy and has an SUV if that might be necessary. He just doesn't know it yet. I will talk with them tomorrow at breakfast and call you to make arrangements. Your items will help to make the Bazar a great success and all of us concerned with helping Alex to heal can't thank you enough. People have asked for updates so I can tell you that his surgery today to fix his broken jaw went well today. Food is fed to him by a syringe. Tomorrow he will have surgery to fix one of his cheekbones and maybe both. I don't know. His nose is still broken. Expect my call about 10am and if you're busy, don't worry, I'll keep calling. My phone number is 331 319 1012.
  4. I've spoken to Donna and she will be donating pieces of furniture to the sale. There will be two chairs that will need upholstery that she can think of right now. I have reduced my apartment by half and I'm including many decorator pieces and kitchen paraphernalia. Including a Rival electric wok with heavy glass lid and a set of dishes for four and a full set of silverware for six. We welcome any and all donated items for sale with much thanks and appreciation. Bags and boxes would be a big help. We're having a bake sale in the dining room where coffee and refreshments will be available.
  5. The residents of The Penthouse in Riberas are having a Bazar to help our young gardener who was badly injured when he was hit by a drunk driver. There may be extra furniture included with the many items that have been collected for sale. I will ask Donna or Mike and report back to you or they may answer personally. The sale will be Saturday, September 22 here at Avenida del Pilar #54. We have just heard that Alex will be receiving an excellent prosthetic leg courtesy of the Shriners as he is eligible at 17 years old. Today he is having surgery to repair his broken jaw and nose. We hope to help with the replacement of some teeth that were lost. We thank the Shriners and members of this community for their love and support as we miss Alex and look forward to the day that he is mended and can return to work.
  6. Yes, he is 17 and a representative of the Shriners has visited Alehandro (we call him Alex) at the hospital and he is going to be fitted with an excellent prosthetic leg. We will now be able to help with new teeth. Thanks to the Shriners for their caring, assistance and love for children. Donated items for sale can be dropped off anytime at The Penthouse, Avenida del Pilar #54 in Riberas behind Mirasol. Someone will answer the doorbell and receive your items with much thanks and appreciation.
  7. Our young hardworking Assistant Gardener was hit by a drunk driver. He's in the hospital with severe injuries. He is suffering with a broken jaw, lost teeth and has had one leg amputated from below the knee. He comes from a good hardworking family, but medical costs are mounting and we, the residents of The Penthouse, are hoping to help. We would like for him to have a good prosthetic leg so he can return to work when he has fully mended. We miss him. We are planning to have a Bazar and bake sale or open café on Saturday, September 22. I am clearing my home of decorator items, kitchen and whatever else that I don't need, want or am just tired of storing. Some items have never been used. It's all going to a good cause. All of us here are joining in to make this a huge success. We will gladly accept your donated items for sale and would hope to see you on the 22nd. Ads will follow with address directions and times, list of items for sale and maybe photos. Look for them in the Classified section. This is "Community Living" at it's best.
  8. Years ago I hiked the Appalachian Trail and we always knew when a hiker had found the wild ramps. The aroma emanated from his pores and enveloped him. We were all jealous of his good fortune.
  9. Another friend came by with a perfect little dog that was a rescue so at least one dog has a forever home and my friend is happy. Thank you for your help.
  10. That would be great. Neither of us has a car and then the ranch rep could see the prospective new home. I'll let you know ASAP.
  11. Kila is beautiful, but she looks a little big and energetic. Izzy is adorable and is being considered.
  12. I am helping a friend and resident of the Penthouse to find a small, not a pup, but not to old female dog for companionship and love. Will have lots of playtime with the dogs here and special attention from the residents. If you know of a lovely dog in need of a forever home please let me know.
  13. I did that, but got no response so I thought the more thrill seeking posters on this thread might have someone interested or at least know what a hoverboard is.
  14. In 1949 I was pooping in my diaper....in 2049 I expect I'll be doing the same.
  15. After watching "The Crown", I watched "The Royal House of Windsor" and found it to be more of an exact accounting of the lives of the Royal Family. It's somewhat of a documentary with actual film footage mixed with actors in parts and I very much enjoyed it. It can be found on Netflix Mexico.
  16. I always enjoy Lake Taco on the Libramiento behind the Pemex next to the car wash. Excellent fish and chips or grilled Mahi Mahi with salad.
  17. It took a few seconds to translate snows into mows. I buy my topsoil from Exotica nursery for 40 pesos a bag and he delivers. I buy the redwood chip mulch from the garden store just east of the 7/11 in Riberas. I have lots of beautiful ground cover in the green with small red flowers or the purple Wandering Jew that you are welcome to come and pick for free.
  18. I also found that times varied according to steamer. I believe I use 25 for room temperature and 30 for cold. I also use ice water bath and crack all over and roll unless they go in the fridge before use,
  19. Sorry, CG. There is much written on it on the web. This method takes all the guess work out and makes no difference as to the age of the egg or hardness of shell. I make pickled eggs and they need to peel perfectly. Too many times I've had egg salad instead before finding out about this method. Put water in bottom of steamer, place eggs in basket and turn it on. I adjust the time according to whether the eggs are room temperature or cold. Also each steamer may be a little different. I do 30 min. for cold eggs and less for warm eggs. Eggs then are rinsed in cold water and go into an ice water bath while I peel them. Perfect eggs every time. Remember: eggs are porous. Dirty eggs may be kept at room temperature, but if washed they must be refrigerated and should be washed before using.
  20. In my younger days I called it a "WOOOHOOOO!!!." Now it's a hoo-hoo?
  21. I only have an electric rice/veggie steamer in which I hard boil eggs. I do a dozen and they come out perfect and peel easy every time. I have a friend who does hers in a pressure cooker with the same results.
  22. We have two new players starting so don't be shy. There are two tables so the better players can play on one and beginners can learn and practice on the other. In no time your skills will improve and your play with others will surprisingly increase your progress. We have paddles that can be borrowed for first time use, but soon you'll be wanting your own and our "main man", Tony, will gladly offer advice and tips for obtaining the best equipment. Everyone will help and encourage you, the exercise is good for body and mind so get out of that recliner and come on down. w
  23. First I would like to state how much I appreciate the forums as this one introduced me to the idea of playing table tennis here in the area. I have found the group to be very accommodating and friendly. They have had the patience to teach and encourage this newbie as I learn and practice the skills of the game. Table tennis as an exercise increases your cardio, eye/hand coordination and challenges you mentally to focus and concentrate. I was concerned about the time I was spending sitting in my recliner and sitting while I painted. I do garden and walk the dog, but neither makes me sweat. This is exercise while I'm having fun and I highly recommend it for everyone of all ages. We play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 in an upstairs room at the Chula Vista Country Club. I arrive at 2:00 to practice and warm up so I will be there to welcome you and introduce you to the players when they arrive. Bring a small towel, bottle of water and wear good tennis shoes. Please come,
  24. I was looking for that last great adventure. That's why I first moved to Catemaco, Ver. I'm over that now so I'm loving the weather and a simpler life here amongst all you old expats.
