Nogales to Chapala Road Status
El Cartero replied to BrianInMexico's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Just back from lunch. Ran into a guy who drove the Nogales route, 15D, and laughed when I told him of the fears of bad roads on this trip. He said two days from Phoenix and, yes, a little construction but nothing mind boggling or any delay. He got here yesterday. -
Nogales to Chapala Road Status
El Cartero replied to BrianInMexico's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Ajijic to Phoenix...... haven’t done ythis trip in 8 or 9 years. Used to take the Lukeville crossing as 85 takes me to Buckeye. Option is 15 thru Nogales which seems to be always under construction. Are road conditions on 25 thru Lukeville any better or worse? -
I would not even bother. Just go to the body shop of your choice and pay to have yours fixed. I doubt a fail to remain on private property will garner much police support. Sorry to sound negative but think I’m realistic. Just my opinion of course.

Michael2595 if you live in Ajijic area I think the chap west of the Waffle House is your best bet. You might like to check the relatively new Meguiars prodoct called Ultimate Compound. I have always use a clay bar but gave this new product a try and have never gone back. You might specify what you want exactly; like wash, clay or compound, deep polish then a silicone or caranuba finish. I have just found the devil is in the details so prefer to spell out what I want and then ask how much. sorry, have no experience in other communities

Chris, Harry’s wife, PM me. I applaud your decision

Interesting BD but I understand the reference to agrarian community land to be an edijo by definition. All the result of the revolution against Diaz’ cabal. Article 4 deals with professions. I don’t see a specific mention of indigenous people in Article 27 but I do see ss 4 referencing the sale of rural land as prohibited from sale to commercial stock companies. My thought was Mexico was unique in treating natives as being NOT different from any other citizen. Equality being the key. So my only point was there is no such thing as “indigenous land” per se. Indigenous defined as nat

Too much work for me. Parking for inside service not acceptable. Tried to order a pizza but they DO NOT deliver. Phoned the delivery service who said their charge was 50 pesos. The pizza was 200 pesos so with a tip of 20 pesos it was 270 pesos for a 12” pizza. So phoned perry’s, mj closed Sunday, and delivery pizza and tip was 200 pesos and a larger pizza. Bottom line is this purple garlic will not be a likely choice in the foreseeable future.

Consider house location. I know la floresta west to la canacita there is a rat problem. Both sides of the Carretera to the lake. They love love love to frequent vines and uncleaned palm trees. Removing the vines in two locations worked to get rid of them

Had TechnaAqua build one about 14 years ago and it was fine. Salt quickly lost its appeal when black algae persisted and went to chemicals. I have heard from several people that Rudy is the go to guy now.

I always take my car to the dealer because I feel them best suited for the job; however, I have known of Felipe’s work for years. He was the go to guy in Armeria, Colima for all the gringos because he did a good job, spoke perfect english, was trained in the US and never screwed anybody.

Need feedback abt good hotel
El Cartero replied to outtlen1988's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
I looked at all the options a few years ago and opted for the posada. I found it perfect, central, great staff and restaurant -
Check out Cuyutlan. 2 1/2 hours. Do a google search for Cuyutlan Properties and contact Mac or Juan. I prefer it to Manzanillo as much more tranquil while the Cities of Manzanillo and Colima are 30 to 40 minutes away.

Recommendation for basic auto insurance.
El Cartero replied to Eric Blair's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
S&S Auto. I was under the impression there are basically 3 insurance companies and the local agents go to them for a price. Qualitas GNP and HDI. I use HDI because in my opinion their overall response time from the scene of the accident to any payout is better than the other two. It is marginally higher in cost then the others usually. So to me I want an agent who I can trust and for that I pick S&S Auto. -
This is about the same height as Denver so drinking plenty of water is advocated. But different strokes for different folks!
