  1. I did not know that Mexico was going to give up analog. I thought that there would be both as there is now. Also, isn't Telecable going to continue to distribute TV channels as it is now in both analog and digital? I don't know.
  2. Darn Cedros, I was hoping you were wrong. Yes, darn it, as you said, the lake level just started to go down. Looking at the Cota in 2013, we were 94.04 meters above a certain point and in 2014, about 94.42 meters above this point and this year 95.14 meters or 1 meter and ten centimeters above 2013. However in 2010 we were 96.62 meters above 0 Cota or almost 1.5 meters higher than right now. The point is, we did very well this year and if we keep it up, the lake will be close to what most of us would consider almost full within the next year or two. Thanks again for the post
  3. In my Telcel plan, an offshoot of the old Amigo plan, I pay 98 centavos per minute. So yes almost one peso per minute.
  4. Thank you both for the information. The info has been past on
  5. A friend who doesn't use the forums, is looking for the Cell # of Rueben, who is a mover who at one time worked at Strom-White Moving and now works independently. Thanks in advance for any contact information you may have for Rueben. Pete
  6. When I put in photo-voltaic solar panels in 2008, I was required to purchase a digital meter. At that time, CFE began reading my meter and billing me once per month.
  7. I would start by looking at the lakeside equivalent of Radio Shack, and should they not have what you need, look at the office copy of their very thick catalog. They are called Steren and the local outlet is across the street from the Wal-Mart store in the Laguna Mall, (the SE corner of the Laguna Mall) I was at Costco, yesterday, there are two in or near Guadalajara, and saw several sound bars that one could use in front of his TV. Best Buy is another option.
  8. Or simply turn to Channel 359 on US DirecTV.
  9. Cedros: I have had email with Laguna since the fall of 1997. I used to volunteer my services there giving tech support until maybe 3 years ago. I have had no problem receiving or sending emails from Laguna. The only problem I have had was with spam which wasn't filtered out by a spam filter. Now that they had moved their antenna in Ajijic to a location I can no longer pick up, I am sadly letting my internet email account with lagunanet expire. I wish Rod the best as he continues providing Laguna to those who are line of site of one of his tall exterior antennas.
  10. I understood that once he moved his office to an office attached to his home in Joco, that the rent required to maintained the antenna, and server equipment in the area above his former Ajijic office became so high, that it no longer made economic sense to keep the antenna and required ground equipment there. There may have been other issues as well, I don't know
  11. I know some who do. However they had to take down the big tower in Ajijic and move it up the hill to a home. Therefore in Ajijic there are fewer persons able to subscribe. I know that I don't have a signal at my house anymore. However, to the best of my knowledge they also have an antenna in Riberas Del Pilar, San Juan Cosala and in Joco with areas of great coverage.
  12. Just for the heck of it, I went back to the analog channels on Telecable and tried to see how many I could get in English using the secondary audio alternative settings. At the time I tried, around 5 to 5:30 PM, I got the following in English. Channels 18, 25, 27, 30, 36, 38, 39, 41, 47, 48, 50, 51, 56, 61, 62, 63, 68, 69, 73, 78, 81, 84, 85, 86, & 87. The last Spanish channel I looked at on analog was the Paramount channel which is on channel 90 and is/was only in Spanish. Just for the heck of it, I tried the same channel in digital HD on channel 785. On digital HD it was in either Spanish or English (SAP) Have I checked the digital channels to see how many have Secondary audio options? Good gracious no. That would take all day. EDIT: I would like to add that those channels that had secondary English programming often advertised in Spanish. Also at different times of the day sometimes the programming is only in Spanish, not offering a secondary language.
  13. SAP is also available on the digital channels. It's often available when the program you are watching is dubbed into Spanish. Although most of the time it seems that the SAP Language is English, I have watched German films where when you choose SAP, the audio is German, one time I even heard one in Dutch. (which I loved as I used to live in the Netherlands and in Bavaria some 50 years ago
  14. Although I have never experienced the problems expressed by some here, I usually shop either about 10 AM or right after lunch, I did mention the angry posts made here to Poncho. He was well aware of this and had scheduled a meeting with the Chapala government officials some days ago to see if there was a solution to this problem that he or others could initiate. I have no idea about the results of this meeting Hey just shop early if you are having problems. Most of us who do have never seen or experienced the problems expressed by some of you.
  15. I went from Win 8 to 10 on my touch screen Surface Pro, and I like the new programming. However. I will not upgrade on my non touch screen Win 7 laptop.
  16. Been here since 1997. I usually shop after breakfast or after lunch. So far I have been lucky. Never have I been attacked or harassed as some of you have been as explained above. Could it be that it is safer in the mornings and early afternoons?
  17. Unbelievable (I am not doubting what you posted, just shocked). Thanks for standing up to them. I hope you will pass this info on to Poncho.
  18. Yes you can watch it on Shaw Direct, DirecTV and apparently Dish USA. You can also listen to it on SiriusXM Radio on channel 112. Still looking? Using Mr. Google, I am sure you will be able to finds several streaming sources both in audio only and on TV. Sure you might have to hide the fact that you are in Mexico, if so, just use a popular VPN. You might also try the app on your Iphone, iPad or Windows 10 machine called TuneIn Radio
  19. I went in later and asked the lady if I could get 14 for 12 months in Dec when my 14 months would be up. She said it all depends on the new owner, but that I couldn't do it now. So things are changing
  20. They did for me maybe 8 years ago. I believe they hired an independent delivery service and I had to pay for the delivery
  21. Remember, Telecable still has CNN and even CNN in HD. Back in 2010 or 2011 first the US and then Canada converted from analog signals to digital signals. A short time thereafter, Mexico while keeping the old analog system that the US and Canada gave up added the digital system. And if you upgrade to the digital method here in Mexico, like you had to do in the US and Canada your channel numbers start at 101 and go up to 999. You have many more channels to choose from in various packages and yes they have CNN in Esp., CNN in both standard definition and in HD and they have CNNI where the I stands for International (English news feeds from many places in the word and includes some programming from CNN. What they don't have in the digital package are the 4 US network channels added to your lakeside analog feed from the US, channels 84,85, 86, and 87
  22. Just to join the crowd, I just drive to Costco (39 miles) and purchase there and if the product is too big I pay them to ship it to my house. Works great for me. Sorry I can not answer the question made.
  23. I thought Telecable had the 2.4 meter Ku dish lakeside, the biggest normally available. Me? I like Shaw because I get my Seattle stations. Oh and in Seattle in my condo I had a choice between DirecTV or Comcast Cable, I chose DirecTV and rented an extra satellite receiver and using one 2.4 meter Ku dish and three LNBs each pointed at a different satellite get most of the HD channels (not to include my local network channels) that I pay for up north in Ajijic. But like dish, when the signals are weak because of rain etc I loose the signal.
  24. They used to have wonderful posts with carpeting around them at the animal shelter, which I know Natasha remembers. I still have several that my 2 newly adopted kittens just love, (a cute brother and sister). I don't think this type is still available; they were the best. But what the shelter had the last time I looked (several months ago) were acceptable.
  25. Both Ruben and Mike the computer guy are good. I saw and spoke to both of them this morning. Mike will be dropping by my house this early afternoon. Do you want me to relay a message?
