  1. That could be. I just know that I phoned their offices to tell them that they were down. I was not told a thing about any changes that were being made. And that I am happy that we are up and running again.
  2. I was glad to see that the Chapala Forum is online again. I greatly enjoy reading many of he posts made by my fellow expats. I, for one, would like to thank the staff for bringing the forum back to life
  3. I thought you guys were full of it when you were suggesting it might rain today. Well I was wrong. In upper Ajijic, at the top of Jaurez and toward the west. Yes it rained rather hard but for a very short time. My rain gauge felt wet to the touch, but there was too little rain to measure anything. Well, at least, it is a little cooler out. Cool enough to get a good nights sleep n
  4. Ww sure do need a little rain. The Ajijic weather site says there has been no rain this year. When was the last rain? In early November?
  5. Great, when I stream my Seattle stations live, they will be only an hour behind instead of two
  6. When picking up Costco Paper towels at the two small stores mentioned above, I asked a staff member how much most expensive the Costco products are than what they paid Costco and I was told on two different occasions that the markup for them was 10% here lakeside.
  7. Rather than a generator, I use 8 deep cell auto batteries which are continuously charged by my solar panels when the sun is shining. And provide power to the more important circuits when CFE stops providing power. So far it has been working great. It's just that I cannot use my microwave oven, swimming pool motor, and a few other products when the CFE power is out as these are a few of the items that are not connected and therefore not protected by my solar panel backup system.
  8. The power went out sometime this morning after 9 AM and is still out as it approaches noon. Let's hope CFE finds and solves the problem soon. Apparently it is out in upper and westerly Ajijic. I do not know about any other areas with power outages I also got a message on my cell phone from Telmex that I am in an area effected by a Telmex telephone outage, and that they were area of the problem and working to fix it. That message was sent near noon, well after the power outage. I tried making several cellphone calls which also would not go through. Oh well, at least I have a small battery backup system allowing me internet connectivity over Wizz the cable company but not over Telmex Infinitum. And providing very limited lighting, should the need arise.
  9. 41.56 MBPS at 4:10 PM on my old fashioned copper Telmex line, not fiber. Why so fast? I live close to the Telmex office and have had great connection speeds since Telmex offered internet service to my neighborhood. \
  10. Mine came back up about two of three hours later. Everything is again A OK.
  11. Yes, I have what is a normal over the telephone lines internet connection. The download speeds normally vary from 35 to 45 Mb/sec down by about 10 up. It hardly ever goes down.
  12. I live in upper Ajijic and have again lost my Telmex Infinitum internet. My phone is also acting up. I can call a phone number and hear the person answering, but he can not here me. Weird. Sure glad I got a cell phone and a backup internet service.
  13. Things were normal today (ie slow) when I drove from Ajijic to the animal shelter and back, around noon. I did see some 8 workers with brooms etc walking along the road. But no one was blocking the already (normally) slow traffic when I drove by.
  14. Hey RickS thanks for the warning. Please tell us what is happening in that part of town.
  15. I have had the same experience with their office. Always good but it also always seemed to be the most expensive.
  16. I had my last cigarette on Nov. 12th, 1989, one day before my 50th birthday. It's been so long since I quit, that I am not bothered when sitting at a table where others are smoking, unless they are 6 inches from me blowing smoke in my face, Am I glad about the new anti-smoking rules? I guess so, but I think it is a little too strict. And that there should be places where smokers could sit together and have a cigarette or two while having a drink or a meal.
  17. Gosh, having lived lakeside since 1997, I find this hard to believe. Luckily, I have kept a portion of my retirement savings invested in Mexican stocks and bonds. I remember how after doing this some 15 years ago, how many folks said I had made a bad move. Yes, I hope the dollar gets stronger, but I'm covered if it doesn't.
  18. some folks have a column on the right side of their page when they open the Chapala.com website. Others find a way not to get that.
  19. Glad to see that we are up and running again and at a reasonable speed
  20. Yes, I'm down again too. Luckily, I can use my Iphone Personal hot spot or the local cable company WZZ as a backup. So the internet is slow but no problems other than athan

  22. I bought a house in Ajijic in 1997 and greatly downsized my Seattle residence to the smallest 2BR condo on the 19th floor of a 33-story condo. It was so long ago, and I am getting so old, that I only know that I love I did move down while maintaining a small Seattle condo unit. And have forgotten any problems, if there were any.
  23. I check my meter every day and yesterday I sent back to CFE about 10 KW hours during the last 24 hours. However, today I purchased 8 HW Hours during the same 24 hour period. So, my net profit yesterday was 2 KW. Today, I am filling my aljibe or water tank, so, I will be most likely using my excess energy today. Everything seems to be working fine, just like it has for the last 15 or so years since I first installed the system. I'm able to keep my bi-monthly CFE billing to close to $100 pesos per billing period, most of the time. That wouldn't be the case if I use d my electric heater to heat any part of the house during the cold winter nights. My electric bill would go way up, I simply don't use the heater and have it stored somewhere in the house.
  24. Sadly I gave my paper away. I was hoping someone might have a suggestion
