  1. Asking for your eyes looking for tags from an extremely persistent group of taggers, 2-3 I estimate. Tags are: ZABU and sometimes ZABUC. They liked locations like street signs, no parking signs, CFE and TelMex street boxes and meter boxes. Their #1 sites are across from Gossips restaurant and a decrepit planter on the SE corner of Galeana and Guadalupe Victoria. Recently they have tagged a real estate sign on J. E. Rosa just above Constitucion. They've also tagged all three bus shelters east of Revolucion on the Carreterra. They seem to operate mainly east of Colon and south of the carretera though I saw one of their tags this morning over by Coca Cola. I'll get that one in the next day or so. They come out shortly after dark, around 10-10:30 PM. Please PM me with any sightings of their tags. This has literally gone on for months, I go out most mornings to remove their tags as they tag almost nightly! I did get eyes on several of them briefly one evening. One around 16 or so, the other younger. I think there is now a third. If you would like to help me stake out their most frequent location, nearly nightly, also please PM me. I don't want to take that on by myself. If they tag on or near your property, please remove if possible and let me know where it was located. Our pueblo is become a very notable place for many beautiful murals. We do not want to give these tagger punks any permission to vandalize here. Feel free to ask any questions you have in this thread or via PM. Thanks!
  2. We made the mistake of ordering a pizza there. It was so bad we threw it out. Truthfully that is the first time in my long life I got a truly inedible pizza and had to throw it out. We let them know on their FB page, not a response of any kind. What the heck happened there? Change hands?
  3. That just shows you how crazy the rents have gotten around here. Thanks for the link.
  4. The Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrel infestation. After much prayer and consideration, they concluded that the squirrels were predestined to be there, and they should not interfere with God’s divine will. At the Baptist church, the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistry. The deacons met and decided to put a water-slide on the baptistry and let the squirrels drown themselves. The squirrels liked the slide and, unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim, so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week. The Lutheran church decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God’s creatures. So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist church. Two weeks later, the squirrels were back when the Baptists took down the water-slide. The Episcopalians tried a much more unique path by setting out pans of whiskey around their church in an effort to kill the squirrels with alcohol poisoning. They sadly learned how much damage a band of drunk squirrels can do. But the Catholic church came up with a more creative strategy! They baptized all the squirrels and made them members of the church. Now they only see them at Christmas and Easter. Not much was heard from the Jewish synagogue. They took the first squirrel and circumcised him. They haven’t seen a squirrel since.
  5. POLL: Who thinks we need this sign on the carretera in both Spanish and English? 🤣
  6. Let's stick to the fun pictures and cartoons here please. Thread starter (me).
  7. The traffic here has certainly exploded since we moved here 15 years ago. But that is basically true all over the country as private vehicle ownership has also exploded. The huge increase in local traffic is why, IMO, it is time to start replacing the loose cobblestones on the busy streets with the stone set pavement with topes as they have, for example, right around the plaza. Although it would increase traffic on my street a lot I think it is time to bow to the inevitable and do that sort of paving on 16 de Sept. and Constitucion. At least there would be a lot less dust.
  8. I believe it went way down to like 1 or 1.5 percent of total account value. Be interesting to see how long that lasts.
  9. I believe the other big sticking point with this proposal is the way it would be financed. Also, I understood the original proposal required construction of a new treatment plant. That big condo development on the south side of Riberas built their own. If I read this correctly it is now proposed to collect the waste and send it to San Antonio where I assume there is either sufficient capacity or it would be added. You can count on all those septic tanks in Riberas are polluting the ground water and eventually the lake. There is no way the land can assimilate that density of septic tanks and drain fields. The usual standards for such disposal call for an acre or more and even that is pushing it. You can't make projects like this voluntary. Riberas presents a huge environmental threat to the ground water and lake and the government should step in, build the system and finance it off of higher property taxes, using mandatory collection/confiscation as required. The usual practice also requires connection within a set time frame, usually a year or less.
  10. Awesome, THANKS! Use Google Search to get around the lousy search engine here. Damn! I never thought of that, great idea. Thanks for it!
  11. OK this is weird. I tried searching for that exact phrase as a topic "Shoe repair shop" and came up with everything but that thread. Tried a general search, same thing. The search function on this board is really weak. By chance would you have a link? Just where is the place in Chapala?
  12. Last time this topic came up was 2018. Supposedly a place in Ajijic that repaired shoes one block west of Colon on the mountainside of the carretera. Also one in Chapala. Anyone here used a local cobbler lately? Who, where and results? Need a sole reglued on an otherwise very good pair of shoes.
  13. There is no longer a sign at the Walmart intersection indicating left hand from east bound on the Carretera to the Libremiento is permitted with the green arrow only. In the absence of that restriction theoretically left on green is permitted if there is no oncoming traffic. Thoughts? Comments?
  14. And ski resorts in NM are having a great year. Remember, El Niño makes Europe warmer than normal. Our friends in England are enjoying a warmer than usual winter after a series of seriously cold and miserable ones. I'm watching hydrogen and an outfit called Sun Hydrogen. They are about to demonstrate a commercial level solar panel that cracks water into hydrogen and oxygen directly. Forget all electric EVs. They will never overcome the limits of the batteries unless some now unforeseen advance in battery technology greatly improves the energy density limit.
  15. Definitely. I would think the high rent in there will pose a bit of a challenge.
  16. It basically reads they expect to be done on the Madero reconstruction by the end of February. It describes how the "mayor" and other officials walked the project from the waterfront to Soriana inspecting the work. We'll see. It certainly is a nice improvement for Chapala and looks to be done much better than the usual. It does appear the amount of on street parking has been reduced. That may cause even more double parking. If it wasn't for the double parkers this work would make for quick trips through the town. However... 🤣 Chapala, "Where residents of Ajijic and other towns of the Chapala Municipio go to see their tax dollars at work." 🤑 It is really a nice town these days. The waterfront is very attractive. It has excellent shopping and quite a number of nice restaurants. We take all our visitors there. If moving here now, I think we would look for a home there first, instead of Ajijic. Still relatively free of "gringo pricing." The Chapala graffiti warriors need to get restarted however. Too many tags for a nice town.
  17. Depends on how old whether it might be worth fixing. If you do decide to replace it, just put the old one out on the curb. It will get recycled in some manner. One of the great things about living in Mexico! I wonder if that wizard in San Juan Cosala could fix it? He recently fixed what is now a $600 SVS subwoofer for me, able to completely rebuild the power supply, for $50.
  18. I only have a few stocks. Smells like a bubble to me. At this age, I want to be more conservative. We've done very well here in Mexico. Now I'd like to hear from some current Multiva account holders, please.
  19. I understand there was a pretty major staff change at Multiva. How has that worked out for those of you who have accounts there? Looking to get more money out of the U.S. because of the wild deficit spending there. Want to diversify from our current investment bank. Your comments appreciated.
  20. Kiko, that is so factual I'm not sure it belongs here. LOLOLOLOL!
