  1. Well we went to the new Home Depot on Lopez Mateos Sur and they informed us their color machine is broken. "when will it be fixed?" "Shrug." Maybe el tienda mas norte en Lopez Mateos tiene uno." So still looking for a Berel store that has a WORKING color matcher. It is not hit or miss with a working color analyzer/matcher. Our past purchase of paint at that Home Depot was a perfect match for the previous paint. The color chip needs to be prepared carefully and cleanly with multiple coats over white.
  2. Do any of the local Berel paint stores have the device that scans a color chip and provides the correct tinting information? I have been going to GDL for my Berel paints because I haven't found a store locally that has this. Color matching by eye like they do at Prisa just isn't accurate enough with my colors. I've had very good results with the Berel 10 year both inside and outside and don't want to change brands. Thanks!
  3. Hard for me to see any fix for the traffic problem on the carretera though I do remember that time when all the traffic lights were out for several days and things moved far better. This was before that crazy traffic light gauntlet was installed in front of Walmart and that sure could be fixed. And do we really need 3 traffic lights in San Antonio? Maybe replacing some or most of the lights with four way stop would help, who knows? There really is no practical possibility of a libremiento around Ajijic at this point. Any reconstruction of parallel streets for through traffic would be extremely disruptive and destructive of the community. Can't see that happening. This governor has done more for the roads in this state than any governor by far in our 15 years here. He's also done some pretty serious improving of public transportation in GDL. He actually gets out with a driver and rides over the roads to see what they are like first hand. The last guy just flew around in his helicopter and largely ignored the bad roads.
  4. He's not running the printing press and neither is Canada. No surprise here about the result of wild deficit spending in the U.S. The dollar could go a lot lower, we are planning on 16. Mexico will also benefit from the mess in China that is causing manufacturing to move here from there. Despite the narco mess the outlook for Mexico is very positive going forward. Sure glad we didn't leave all our eggs in the NOB basket. Not going to be so cheap living here going forward for many of us. It will be interesting to see if this cools off the over heated RE market here.
  5. At the age of about 15 Max has developed failing kidneys and will need medication daily. We have an upcoming 10 trip with our artisan family in February and we are looking for someone who we can compensate to come daily and give Max his meds. This could be a vet or any experienced pet sitter who is willing to do the job. Female is better as Max prefers the ladies. We are in SE Ajijic a couple of blocks below the Tianquis street. Thanks.
  6. They took down my statue????? Ratfinks!!!!!!!!!!! BTW it is "Mainecoons" like the cats. 😁
  7. I'm not sure it is going to work that way. It appears mandatory looking at the legislation. I am assuming the agency responsible for collecting is going to publish some guidelines at some point. It seems pretty difficult to implement for people who work short hours for multiple people, but let's see what they come up with.

  9. Update on the pie. Went to Colibri Garden, bought a cherry pie, 280 pesos. Good part: Tasty crust. Bad part: Way too much crust and not enough filling, very thin on actual cherries. For close to $15 U.S. we were not impressed. Seems to be a very common failing with commercial pies. Costco does better IMHO.
  10. We watched the showers and lightning from the outdoor patio of the new pier restaurant. Awesome way to end the year!
  11. We have one of those and it has drastically reduced our gas consumption. Expensive though to have someone come from GDL for routine maintenance.
  12. My spouse goes at opening on Monday or Tuesday which seems to avoid a lot of the problems. Haven't had a problem with the ice cream lately. She shops almost as much at Torito these days which is much improved and a very easy walk from our place.
  13. Colibri's pies look wonderful. Does one have to order in advance? Not too far really, just on the edge of Chapala close to the train station. I thought it was further out of town. Thanks for the FB link!
  14. That is a bit far to go for a pie, thanks for the suggestion though. Does Panino sell whole pies to go? Apple, cherry, peach, blackberry, any quality whole fruit pie carry outs.
  15. Don't have time to go to Costco, is there anyone you can recommend for good quality fruit pies to go? Thanks.
  16. Once you go Temporal, after 4 years you have to go Permanente or start the cycle all over again by leaving. Permanentes cannot have U.S. plated cars.
