  1. Tried contacting Jackie repeatedly, he just never responds. I understand there's someone by the name of Rodrigo who also does this? Anyone use him and how did it go? If a good alternative, does someone have Rodrigo's contact information?
  2. May be taking longer to close the deal. This is Mexico. 😀 I'm going to look the company up, send them an email and see what they say. If I get anything I'll post it here. Sharp eyes there, Lexy. 👍
  3. Posted on Facebook by a local resident: https://lakesidenewschapala.com/2022/12/12/the-rumors-are-true-margaritaville-is-coming-to-ajijic/ Has been bought out by a U.S. Company, "Margaritaville Holdings." It will continue as a retirement community. Official opening is January of next year.
  4. Walmart threads are great for building traffic on this site. 🤣
  5. The exchange rate to get that cash is even lower than the credit card rate. Not sure I understand the difference here. The 20+ peso dollar is unlikely to return IMO. It could and would get much worse if the dollar loses its reserve currency status. A lot of forces in the world working right now to make that happen. Mexico will then have the choice to have the peso follow the dollar down. This will be very difficult for them given the U.S. is Mexico's by far #1 trading partner and that is growing as near shoring of plants from Asia accelerates. I'm betting Mexico will not let the peso fall below 16.
  6. Well people are starting to get out in big numbers after years of covid hysteria. We were in Manzanillo and it was a zoo. Fortunately we were far enough down the beach so it was not bad right there. A lot of traffic but unlike here, the main road is well engineered and signalized to keep things moving.
  7. Tried CI Banco again today. Nope. Giving up on them. Went over to HSBC no problem getting 15K Pesos. Worth paying a bit more to get some reliability. Good thread, thanks everyone particularly Lou for the great feedback.
  8. CI Banco is charging an ATM fee for Capital One 360. I went and looked at the statement. For a 15,000 peso withdrawal the fee charged is $3.41 U.S. It appears HSBC is about a buck higher but if it is more reliable it is well worth it.
  9. Wow, thank you Lou and all. Lou, do you use only HSBC? Is $10,000 pesos the limit? We normally get 15,000. CI Banco is charging $3.12 on a $15,000 pesos withdrawal...when the damn ATM works.
  10. C.I. Banco seems to have become very unreliable again. Can one use the HSBC ATM without charge like one can do (when it works) with C.I. Banco? Any other ATMs in that area that work for Capital One? Gracias!
  11. I find as I approach 80 I'm a lot more tolerant of slow thinking slow moving old folks in line I've noticed that it is easy to fumble for money, mishear what is going on and in general just not move like I used to. Not to mention the fact I know better than to be in a hurry in the checkout line. It does help to shop early, right at opening time, whenever possible. Less distraction, pressure and overall activity in the store.
  12. I think we have just hit the point where there are just too many restaurants lakeside, in the hundreds now, for the number of customers. Event the best of them have empty tables at times when you would expect them to be a lot busier. Unfortunately this hasn't translated into better value or food for the most part and maybe to the contrary.
  13. Amazon international shipping is a real bargain and they seem to get the best deals on duty too. I find it is usually cheaper to order from an Amazon U.S. supplier than Amazon Mexico and the delivery is almost as fast. Would prefer to use Amazon Mexico, their delivery is lightning fast here, but they tend to be very uncompetitive with Mercado Libre or Amazon U.S.
  14. Matamoros should be avoided. Lots of problems there at the moment.
  15. Change it. Better to do so now than deal with it along side the road somewhere.
  16. I've had good luck with batteries from the LTH store in Riberas.
  17. There's one in Cihuatlan north of Manzanillo near where we go to the beach. It is a dump too. This one sounds just like it.
  18. New place on Chapala waterfront past Club de Yaches. Anyone eaten there yet? Looks pretty fancy.
  19. Unfortunately this one sets a bad precedent for the future. It won't be the last.
  20. Aren't they obligated to provide you a pipa if the water is off for a long time?
