https://mexiconewsdaily.com/real-estate/mexicos-housing-prices-up-nearly-12-over-last-year/
Supposedly nearly 12 percent. I think that is certainly being reflected locally but if the dollar continues to go down I would expect housing sales to slow. 17.60 this morning.
Will it go lower? That all depends on how soon Mexico starts cutting the cete rate to keep the peso from being too expensive. Mexico is now the #1 trading partner of the U.S. Expensive pesos make Mexican exports to the U.S. more expensive.

17.54 today.
I'm sticking by my prediction of 16 or lower. That should take a lot of wind out of the sails of the local RE market.

You beat me to it. I was just about to put that up.
Come on OP, don't break that puppy's heart, there's always a way.

After reading this I'm still a little confused. Please bear with me.
My wife is flying out to the U.S. in two weeks. Does she still go to the immigration window near arrivals or just straight to the airline check in?
Gracias!

Does he do leather upholstery? I know I could phone him but I want to know if anyone has had him do leather upholstery and the results please.
Yes. He has a great selection of coverings including some very high quality vinyl. Haven't had him do leather but the vinyl work he did for our RV was absolutely first rate.

Not having that problem at this time. It may have something to do with additional anti spammer measures.

It is not cheap. We sponsor four brilliant and talented young ladies from Oaxaca at Iteso University. One has graduated and is doing fantastically well already, one will finish in December. Fortunately, all had some scholarship coverage, the youngest has a near full ride.
When we had all four, we budgeted about $600K pesos per year for subsistence, housing, expenses and tuition. I found it far more cost effective to buy an apartment for them in GDL than to pay what has turned out to be rapidly rising rents. Smartest thing I ever did, not only save money and hassle but the apartment has turned out to be a stellar investment. Room rents have increased fifty percent since I got the apartment, yet it only costs me about 30K pesos per year to own and maintain.

It would help if you posted your time frame and where the dog would need to get to. I have a buddy that runs pets to the U.S. at reasonable cost.. We will be going up there before long and maybe could take her. The more you can tell us the more likely someone can help. You should also post on the other board. There is a FB page just for this purpose.

Nine years a member of your family? Maybe you could do better by her?
There is a great surplus here of dogs needing homes. At minimum, maybe you could take her back up north where adoption is far more likely and find her a home there.
At least post a picture here.

From what I have read, the sad part about the future of La Pueblita is that is more likely to be a senior living community without the benefits of assisted living, memory care unit, etc. which seemed so appealing because there is such a great need here for both. Again, the "new" La Pueblita is unlikely to provide the necessary amenities for those who need them as we age.
Not being able to fulfill that need for such amenities is unforunate, as well as for all the people who had put money down on the place ( I know several) and the return of that money is in limbo.
As one of us is over 80 and the other darned close we were definitely interested in it for this possibility. The original developers had the right idea, just not enough dinero to carry it out. There has to be a market here for "age in place" housing.

Just looked out the north facing window, looks like a huge cloud of smoke on the other side of the mountain.
Another big fire?

Yup. Love GTO, just too many steps and hills at this age.

Big, rather ugly industrial city. I suspect this data comparison is actually from airport data and more of a comparison between GDL and here.
That would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Unfortunately just about anywhere you go from here you are giving up this amazing climate. The beaches are all hot as heck for much of the year and the mountains get chilly.

Anyone locally doing this whom you have used with good results? I think my last filter sand replacement used poor quality sand and the thing is not filtering well
Thanks!

I moved. The traffic was one of the biggest reasons. I moved to Ajijic in 2001 then Jocotepec. I am now in an area where the summers are extremely hot but, a friendly expat community and no traffic lights and few topes. Plus I will open a nursing home here. It's in the works.
Where?

Has Min Hua gotten any better?

Anyone given this a try? Is it any good?

Thanks, this is good to know. One more dumb question: Is the fiber optic cable fatter than the DSL cable? I want to run the new one through the same hole in the wall as the old one.

When I ran into a TelMex installer, he said you need to get a work order done at the TelMex office on the carretera. We did and he returned two days later and spent quite a while looking for the source of the DSL connection to the house. Once he found it, he clipped it and inserted the fiber optic going back to the box.
A nice tip to the guy always helps.
Do they run a new fiber optic cable all the way into the house where the modem is, or do they clip the existing cable outside somewhere and the rest of the way is the existing cable? Sorry if this is a stupid question because I don't understand this much.

When I switched from Telmex DSL to fiber optic in my house at the beach, I had to drive to the Telmex office in Bucerias to request the service. Fiber uses a different modem than DSL so it would be unlikely that a random Telmex installer would have an extra in his truck. Anything's possible of course.
Note that when you switch to fiber you'll lose your copper based land line which will be replaced with VOIP service. The copper phone jacks in the house will no longer work forcing you to a portable phone system. The portable phone base is plugged into the modem. If you switch to Telmex and the internet goes down, your phone won't work either.
That's no problem since we have a land line just for DSL. Plan on getting rid of that too. I wonder if those have any resale value these days, they used to be quite popular. Cell phones really have made land lines unnecessary.
