  1. They would be wise to change the name. The prior owner was dictatorial and rude. The current owner over the last two years works hard and has reinvented the Restaurant. We have visited and have no complaints.
  2. Located in the old Ajijic Tango location on Morelos. Is it good, great, terrible or indifferent? Thanks
  3. We were there the other night with friends. It was our first visit and, if it had not been for our recently returned "Snowbird" friends suggestion, we would likely have continued avoidance of the location. We're well aware of prior sad attempts to establish an eatery on this questionable property and, the problems that always ensued. Lack of proper sanitation was always a primary prior issue. I won't waste a lot time but our experience was a complete disaster. We were two couples. Each couple ordered a vacio steak, medium rare, to share at the table. Our friends ordered baked potato and salad to accompany their steak. My wife and I ordered fries with our steak. Our steaks arrived. Ours was medium and our friends more to "well done". Both steaks appeared to be "stewed" as opposed to grilled. No charring at all and no seasoning. As our steak was closer to what we had ordered so we kept it but our fries were cold and not completely cooked (they had, obviously not been blanched). Our fries were taken away to be replaced. Our friends decided to return their steak but when it returned it was mostly gristle and totally unacceptable. They had, by then, already finished their potatoes and salad. While all this was going on our waiter seemed to be pretty obviously avoiding our table. When the young lady who had first delivered our steaks returned to our table we asked if there was a manager present. She indicated, by pointing, that a young man speaking with people at one of the tables overlooking the lake was the manager we suggested that we would like to speak with him. We didn't see her speak with him but a few minutes later he passed by our table and my wife asked him if he was the manager. He was pretty poorly dressed with a soiled t-shirt so she wasn't exactly sure. He confirmed that he was the manager but said that he wasn't really working as he'd just come back from a 3 day holiday. We explained the concerns about our meal and the lack of any coordinated service. He apologized but again, emphasized that he wasn't really working and had just returned from being away. He did speak with our waiter who seemed to totally agree that our table had legitimate problems. The "manager" appeared to head into the kitchen area. When he returned he informed us that he had made an adjustment to our our bill but.........then he made the following comment. "The quality of our meat is exceptional and, far superior to what you would get at Tango and......we've never had problems before!" We never mentioned Tango......Why would he? Oh yes, one other thing. When our table was cleared and we were waiting for the check........a young lady arrived with a small plate of fries. The fries that my wife and I never did receive! Barrio de Quilmes on the pier? Our first time but........definitely our last! Ajijic Tango is, in our long established opinion, far superior, consistent, impeccable service, well managed and great value. The "manager" made a serious mistake when he decided to mention "Tango".
  4. CLOSE FRIENDS ARE SOON LEAVING FROM CALGARY TO DRIVE TO THEIR HOME IN AJIJIC FOR THE WINTER. ON THEIR LAST TRIP HERE 3 YEARS AGO THEY TOOK A ROUTE THAT HAD THEM CROSS INTO MEXICO AT THE COLUMBIA CROSSING IN TEXAS. THEY'VE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT THEIR PREVIOUS ROUTE IS NO LONGER THE SAFEST AND, OF COURSE IT'S NOT EXACTLY THE MOST DIRECT ROUTE. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FROM RECENT PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU
  5. Any reports, good or bad, about the Argentine restaurant recently opened on Morelos in the former Ajijic Tango location? Thanks
  6. K.G. You've obviously never been in the restaurant business and haven't worked in years. Pre-Covid many restaurants struggled! During the Covid pandemic, many restaurants disappeared. Now, with continuing uncertainty, restaurants struggle even more and, miraculously some still manage, despite the lack of understanding by a large percentage of patrons!
  7. I'm referring to the prepared dish, not the carved volcanic stone used for serving. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.
  8. Having spent time in Argentina it was immediately apparent that Italian cuisine was almost as prevalent as domestic Argentine fare. See following: The milanesa is one of the most delicious examples of the Italian influence on Argentine cuisine. Popular throughout the Americas, it’s the South American version of the Italian Cotoletta. Its name is derived from Milan’s cotoletta alla milanese, a dish brought to South America by Italian immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Milanesas are made with prime slices of beef that are pounded, breaded, and fried. It’s similar to the Austrian/German wiener schnitzel, American chicken fried steak, or Japanese tonkatsu. In Argentina, it’s typically made with a lean cut of beef but it can be made with pork, veal, or chicken as well.
  9. We were recently told that there's an excellent restaurant as named in the Title of this post. Does anyone have any information to offer. Thanks.
  10. Sincere thank you. Your reference was perfect and the unit is now under construction. Great person to deal with!
  11. A few years ago there were several people, locally who were making attractive and practical raised (to keep the dogs out of the food) combined scratch post/feeding stations specifically for cats. Does anyone know who might still be making and selling them? p.m. if you like or just post the contact information. Greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  13. Is there a local facility where we can take a sample of our drinking water that supplied through our filtration and ultraviolet system? Thank you for any advice.
  14. Twenty litre water bottles are the most common size for home dispensing purposes. We've just obtained a smaller electric hot/cold water dispensing unit that recommends use of a ten litre bottle. Does anyone know where that size might be available in the Ajijic/Chapala area? Thanks.

  16. For years the restaurant was simply unpredictable and the service always lacked enthusiasm but, as the original owner is no longer living, does anyone have any recent experiences worthy of comment? Good or bad? Thanks.
  17. PERSON IN CHAPALA HACIENDAS LOOKING FOR SKILLED CARPENTER WHO DOESN'T OVERCHARGE TO BUILD A CLOSET
  18. Wasn't it Lori who, initially, opened Lake Taco behind the Pemex on the Libramiento prior to then opening Charlotte's?
  19. The Brew House is possibly still owned by the people who own Adelita's. The quality of what is served at the Brew House is not, currently, the same as what's served at Adelita's. It is located in the same building as the Brewery "Corazon de Malta". The Brewery is not involved in the restaurant but their beers, on tap, are available in the restaurant. The Brew house has been for at least the last 5 or 6 years at the same location at the western end of Ajijic just a few metres south of the Carretera on Calle de Las Flores #25. The service and food have been consistently "up - and - down" and unreliable. Overall reason (read excuse) is a total lack of management and knowledgeable supervision. As a result they have a well-earned reputation as serving"undercooked unidentifiable fish" and an inconsistent burger presentation. It's not, in any way, what it could be if......they bothered to listen to dissatisfied clientele and, then, actually did something about it! ¡Hola a todos nuevamente! Solo queremos agradecer infinitamente su ayuda y la confianza depositada, si en algo más podemos ayudar no duden en llamarnos. Muchas gracias Sonia y Alejandro
  20. No comparison. Burger today at Brew House inedible...mushy...didn't taste like meat and simply fell apart. Cold bun and after a couple of bites simply left it. When the waiter inquired as to why I wasn't eating the burger, I described the burger exactly as I've just written. I showed him the uncooked patty which was crumbling apart. The waiter, who spoke perfect English, made no offer to replace the burger. We asked for our bill. Paid the full amount and left and.......we'd not likely ever return. Far too many times we've been disappointed. Three weeks ago at Adelita's, I would suggest that the burger I ordered there, was one of the best I've had in our many years at Lakeside. Something is wrong at the Brew House! Likely, lack of management and supervision. Perhaps the kitchen staff are substituting their own burger concoctions and taking the real burger patties home! We left and went for the first time to Betos. Each of our burgers were excellent and....contained properly cooked meat...no mushy filler. The fries could have been crispier but that small negative was more than offset by the attentive service to match the quality food. Nice people, sincerely hope they make a go of it
  21. We've had our two Pfizer shots but when we download the official Mexican verification receipt, the information is totally incorrect. We're shown as having received the Sinovac vaccine and the dates are incorrect. We received our receipts at the vaccination site at exactly the same time as several of our friends. Their official "downloaded" receipts are "mostly" correct but we're the only people who we know of where the "wrong vaccine" is shown. The Jalisco department of health, when contacted, told us that it is the Federal Department of Welfare (known as Bienstar) that's in-charge of distribution and recording of Covid vaccinations in Mexico. We've attempted contacting Bienstar and even visited their primary site in GDL where we were, after providing our "vaccination site receipts", our CURP, our "Permanente" and our Passports, promised that a correction would be made within a few days. That was five weeks ago and no correction has been made. Has anyone else had a similar problem and had it resolved? If so, how? Sincere thanks if you have any advice.
  22. If you've already received your two doses is a booster shot available as of yet in this area?
  23. Any information about this relatively new restaurant would be great. Type of food, days and hours, pricing......any actual dining experience reports......good, bad or indifferent.
  24. NOISE! CARRETERA TRAFFIC NOISE TOTALLY RUINED WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT MEAL. AN INCREDIBILY SAD SITUATION FOR THE OWNER AND STAFF BUT, AS A RESULT WE WOULD NEVER GO BACK.
