  1. Okay, last week i had my friend Antonio's wife pick up a pot roast for me at a butcher shop somewhere in Joco. Gave her the ordering instructions that More Liana gave. Nanci got me a 2-kilo slab of it for 226 pesos. Finally made it in the crockpot today with carrots, onions, potatoes, and some beef broth (caldo de res). Cooked it for 4 hours on high and then 2 more hours on low. Oh, i did season it and sear it in a frying pan before i loaded it into the crockpot. It is DELICIOUS!!! Thanks everybody for the info!

  3. SunshineyDay, you can't find their Facebook page or you can't find the restaurant? Their Facebook page is restaurante la guadalupana "my friend".
  4. According to their Facebook page, they are open daily from 9am to 11pm. However, Cynthia (the OP) says they are closed on Monday, so that may be so. Google Restaurante La Guadalupana "My Friend" and you will see photos, etc.
  5. Five of us went to La Guadalupana on Wednesday, 1 March, and we all loved it, just as Cynthia (the OP) said. Great food (mostly seafood and meat), great service. Yes, it's in El Chante, Jocotepec, and i know you folks from Ajijic don't like to come this far, but for us who are westenders, this is a GREAT place.

  8. Juan actually had brisket this morning (Friday), as well as ribs and pulled pork that i know of. He was out of the brisket (no surprise!) by the time we got there about 2:15pm. Frankly, i was surprised he had anything left by then! i also got some potato salad, so don't know whether he has other sides or not. Happy to know that he has returned and it's sometimes worth the drive from Joco to get some of his food. Particularly the brisket. Did i mention it was delicious???
  9. Was playing cards with some women in Ajijic this Friday morning and one of the husbands walked in with a delicious smelling bag of brisket and ribs with sides of BBQ sauce. Said he bought them at the poutine place across from Superlake and that the man doing the cooking had a stand set up and was selling the meat three days a week. My first thought was that "Ranger" from Ranger's BBQ in El Salto is back. Does anyone know if it IS Ranger?? i know he was selling from the same area several months ago, but then he disappeared. BTW, the brisket was FABULOUS....although i only had one bite!

    Googled Deli 8 and it shows they are open from 8am to 6pm daily.
  11. Travis, also made me think of Chili Cheese Fries, which i love. But also of French Fry Po-Boys from New Orleans, where they use roast beef gravy on fries (order it dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo). Guess that i, too, am gonna have to try Poutine.
  12. Floradude, go to the INM office in Chapala and check to see if they have your card. No notice of mine being there appeared on the INM website, but since I was in Chapala on Wednesday, I stopped by and, sure enough they had it. When the clerk brought out a list of cards that were ready, it appeared that only about 50% of them had been picked up. So yours might be there, too!
