  3. I guess you are still waiting for an answer to your question? “examplesof the cost of major surgery. Eg. Knee replacement, heart procedures, cancer etc.” I had 2 surgeries in Mexico. I had a cervical disc replacement at San Francisco de Asis hospital in Guadalajara. It was done through a local clinic in San Antonio that billed my U.S. insurance company $45,000 USD. The procedure was successful and I did not pay anything out of pocket, however, my insurance company issued a fraud investigation due to over billing. I discovered that the procedure actually cost $15,000 usd and the clinic pocketed $30,000 usd. I no longer have any dealings with the clinic or the doctor that runs it. I also had gastric bypass surgery at Hospital Country 2000. I paid $6,500 USD out of pocket. No insurance. That’s all I have. I hope it helps.
  4. I had never heard of DirectTVGo. Is there a local installer? Or do I contact them directly? I found their web site at https://www.directvgo.com/mx/ .
  5. WOW. Great answers to my request. However, I am only looking for someone who may already have a truck CAPABLE of towing a 5th wheel, maybe at one time may have had a hitch in place, who may want to make some extra cash to tow someone else's 5th wheel. It is not for me, so I would not be looking to buy another truck to tow a 5th wheel that I no longer own. And I am not asking anyone to modify their truck to install a hitch just to make a few pesos. SIMPLE question; Is there someone out there who may be interested in towing a 5th wheel and has a truck capable of towing a 5th wheel? If you are that person or know someone that may be interested, please let me know. NO answer is required if you are not that person. Thanks anyways. I appreciate all the advice, but the advice being offered is not necessary. Thank you.
  6. Thank you for your input. YES, It is correct that you need a 5th wheel hitch to tow a 5th wheel RV AND I live in Roca Azul, so I do ask people that own trucks capable of towing 5th wheels. People have their own reasons for not wanting to do the job. Sometimes, there is someone looking to make some extra cash and willing to take the time to do the job. In fact, there used to be a man that went by Canada Bob that had towed some RV's in the past, but not sure if he is still around, OR if he can tow 5th wheels. It is possible that he does not have the 5th wheel hitch. I DO HAVE A HITCH that can be borrowed if someone wants to use it to do the job. Thanks again.
  7. I know that this has been asked in the past. But I am asking again. I am looking for someone to tow a fifth wheel RV. An acquaintance of mine is looking for someone who has a truck and hitch who can move his 5th wheel RV about 200 meters on the same property located in San Luis Soyatlan on the southern coast of Lake Chapala. If interested, please message me with your rate and contact phone number. The RV owner is Mexican but speaks English well. He would like to do it on Saturday, 1st of June.
  8. Like anything else you will be bringing, it all depends on how much you will bring. If you plan to bring 100 lbs worth of food and many boxes of meds, of course, you will attract attention and certainly be told to pay imports and possibly confiscations. But if you are bringing a two weeks supply of food and a couple of months worth of meds, I wouldn't worry about it. Check with local shops, including Pet Coto see if they carry what you need. Just make sure your vet docs are done correctly and shots are up to date. I would be more concerned about that stuff than about the food and meds. Safe travels.
  9. As I said; Ignore the sarcasm and ignorance that you will encounter. Not everyone is eager to shoot someone or flash his firearm to everyone he encounters. But, as you can see, from a couple of posts, the procedure to purchase and register a firearm in Mexico is very easy and affordable. And it is not difficult to LEGALLY purchase a LEGAL firearm. The folks on Mexicano Armado are experienced and very knowledgable about the Mexican gun laws. If you are looking to purchase a firearm you should be able to find a seller from the Guadalajara area. Sign up on the forum and monitor the guns for sale until you find something you are interested in. The only drawback about firearms in Mexico is that guns and ammo are MUCH more expensive than up north. Unfortunately. Good luck to you.
  10. Owning a firearm is completely legal as long as you are a "Mexican Resident". A LTC is also available by may be difficult and almost impossible to get. Buying a firearm is surprisingly easy. You do not need any paperwork or license to buy, but you do have to register it once you do buy. And you can buy from anyone. No need to go to DF for one. Visit https://www.mexicoarmado.com/index.php . It is a forum where you can buy and sell firearms in Mexico. You can also find all your answers for licensing and registration. Good luck. Ignore the sarcasm and ignorance that you will encounter. A mature and responsible gun owner knows the rules, the laws, and the circumstances when to use and not use a firearm. Educate yourself and know the laws about gun ownership and you will not have any problems.
  11. I am watching this post. I do not suffer from COPD, but I am asked the same question by relatives that would like to visit. I would love to hear from COPD patients that either live in the area or have visited. What was your experience like? Everyone is different, and it all depends on the patient's overall health condition and the severity of the COPD. So, each person may have different experiences. I am hoping that COPD sufferers will respond and share their experience. Thanks!!
  12. I had been going to a certain clinic for years and they recently told me that my U.S. insurance was no longer paying for my office visits because the visits were no longer connected to my surgery. What one has to do with another I do not know? They would no longer see me for any visits. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from my insurance's fraud investigation department saying that they were investigating the clinic. Apparently, the clinic was charging my U.S. insurance company $450 USD for office visits, which is usually MUCH less in Mexico. They also charged them $45,000 USD for a surgery that they arranged, which really only cost $15,000 USD, a $30,000 mark up. The insurance company was also under the impression that the surgery and office visits were being done in the U.S. and not Mexico. They do not pay for office visits or surgery in Mexico unless it is an emergency, which they were was not. I had no idea this was going on. Fortunately, I am not being held responsible for any of the fraudulent charges. On an added note, if you do a Google search on a doctor that runs a clinic, you can find out his previous criminal background in the U.S. This may help you figure out what they are up to.
  13. Spencer, have you considered hosting an educational seminar? Your document is top notch and looks like it could be used in a seminar. I would be willing to pay to attend an educational seminar on Jalisco traffic & criminal laws and procedures for English speaking civilians. Something that would supplement your document and would be geared to the layperson. I am not sure if there has ever been such an event or if one currently exists. Maybe there would be others that would be interested in attending? Just an idea.
  14. Why would it become illegal if you shoot someone? Isn't that the purpose of having a firearm at home? For self-defense? If you are in fear of death or bodily harm, you have the right to defend yourself, and if you happen to have a legally owned firearm and use it to defend yourself, then you should be off the hook, criminally. However, just like in the U.S., there are civil repercussions that one will most likely encounter. But, at least you are alive.
  15. I came across this web site from a group that will help you buy your firearm at SEDENA. They offer to pick you up at the airport and bring you back. They have posted step by step instructions and all the forms you will need, along with a catalogue of the firearms that are available for purchase. Very informative web site. I have no idea who the group is and what, if any, costs for their services. Check it out; http://www.laarmeria.com.mx/index.html
  16. The proper terms are not being used. A license to carry a firearm may be what he is talking about? It is complicated and if it is not done correctly, you will get denied, but this is not required to PURCHASE a firearm. You DO NOT need a "permit" or a "license" to purchase a firearm from another person, but you DO need to register the firearm (it is a registration and not a license). You DO need a permit (RFA-FC-009 ) to purchase a firearm from the military ( a ONE time thing, and it is not needed to make a private purchase), and you need to specify what you want to buy. You cannot just go there and go shopping. That is why you need to know what they have in stock. You can buy up to 10 firearms for hunting and target, but you can only have one handgun for home defense (proteccion de domicilio). If you already own a firearm, it will be subtracted from these numbers. And you can also purchase ammunition there. (I am not sure what Harry is referring to about buying one firearm a year. I can't find that here.) Whenever you buy ammunition, you must show your "registration" to the firearm that you own and are buying the ammo for. You can buy ammo in Jocotepec. You DO need a permit to transport firearms AND/OR carry them. TWO separate animals. Here are a couple of sites that may be helpful, IF you are interested in buying a firearm from the military. And if you go, please let me know how you made out.!! Purchasing firearms from SEDENA Guide to buying firearms from DCAM Buying a firearm from a private party is different, and has been discussed elsewhere. All you need to do is register the firearm at the Guadalajara military outpost. This site has instructions on how to do this; Registration of firearms . In fact, there are dozens of new and used firearms posted for sale here; Firearms for sale in Mexico . Mexicoarmado is my favorite place to visit to get answers to many of these questions. There are people there that can help you out and guide you in the right direction. Your BEST bet is to contact Attorney Spencer, or whomever you want, before you go out and buy anything on your own. Don't take my word on any of this. Good luck and happy shooting.
  17. Harry, What kind of "gun license" are you talking about? Unless the laws have changed, I don't think that there is any license requirement to purchase a firearm. I think there is something similar to our license to carry, "SEDENA 02-025 Licencia de portacion de arma de fuego ", which they say is difficult, but not impossible to get. Is that what you are referring to?
  18. Pedro, ATF controls exporting firearms, so they call the shots when you want to have anything exported. Mexico has similar requirements. You cannot simply take something out of the country, legally. There is a form and a procedure to export firearms out of Mexico as well. Somewhere on this post I think I posted something from ATF about exporting firearms. And Icsscats, I am not familiar with your situation, BUT, I would check into it. Just because someone had filled the barrels with lead may not change the legal definition of that firearm. Find an attorney who can clarify your situation. You don't want a local police officer deciding your fate on what he thinks may be still a legal firearm.
  19. Pedro, thanks for posting. I think you have seen my other post regarding importing firearms. So you know what I was asking regarding importing. Yes, IF a firearm is "smuggled" in, then there is no problem getting it registered. But, for me, it is not worth the risk. The permit fee runs just over $4,000 pesos. But then you have other aduana issues and ATF on the U.S. side. So, it could get complicated. It appears that none of our readers have legally imported firearms, so I am waiting to hear back from Spencer. I did not have any questions for Spencer about buying from the military. I am familiar with the process. I just wanted to know if someone has gone there.
  20. Sorry I took so long to respond. There is some misinformation being posted. First; You can purchase a firearm from a private party. I have done it and it is legal. There is no requirement to purchase from the military. There is a registration process and it is not complicated, as posted by "vette". There is a very active and prominent web site where you can buy or sell firearms in Mexico. All of these are private parties. www.Mexicoarmado.com. Here, you can find all the information you need regarding buying, transporting, registering, etc... They have a link for all the forms and laws. I realize that the prices are cheaper in D.F., but I am asking if anyone has actually gone there to make a purchase. Second; You can legally import firearms into Mexico. I posted a question on the customs and immigration section of this forum. I asked if anyone has legally imported a firearm. I am curious about the experience. I know the procedure, so I was not asking how to do it. Again, information about IMPORTING firearms into Mexico can be found on Mexicoarmado as well as the government's web site at www.gob.mx .
  21. Sorry, this inventory is for short arms only. They have more for long arms and ammo.
  22. Please, I do not want to debate firearm issues. Feel free to open up your own post if you would like to offer your anti-gun opinion, I am asking for information, thank you!! 1. Has anyone had any experience purchasing a firearm from the D.F. military outpost? If you have priced firearms here in Mexico, you know how outrageous they can be. I am curious if it is worth going through the process of going to the D.F. to buy anything. Their inventory lists a Glock model 28 for $630 USD. This is about 50% cheaper than what is sold elsewhere in Mexico. i.e. Mexicoarmado. If you have gone through the process, how was your experience? Thank you for your input. FYI, I have attached the current inventory at the D.F. military outpost.
