Information wanted about cardiologists, stents and testing
lakeside7 replied to Pelican9's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
""""None of us know what we would do in an emergency such as this family experienced. He was in a coma and the family made the best decision at the time in my opinion."""" Yes, they did make the best decision....but why we/you have to share other people's experiences is beyond me, because it is always going to receive reaction comments from others, and about their friend's experiences, which most of the time is irrelevant. We are all different and therefore need medical treatment to suit ....there is no one size, or solution, to fit all, period. What is a fact, private medical in Mexico is getting "expensive" and getting out of reach for a segment of (long-time retired) Gringo's. -

And with the stronger Peso its a big chunk of change -
Different types of heart problems react to different solutions. Simply going to say FL or other states with high humidity and temperature is a killer. I have a friend who has heart problems and left for the states because he has good medical benefits and feels more comfortable with more facilities closer by . Perception is a strong reason why many of us make the moves we do

No emissions test Lake Chapala area required

Thank you for sharing, Mostlylost is always quick to point out "the laws" but never the actual reality of situations experienced. Remember many salary are lowly paid and the expectations are to top them up with "tips" ( bribes). It's the culture we live in, so suck it up or move. -

You know that I know that...But for some other person who is not so well versed in the MX culture it can be very intimidating...and when he takes out his cell telephone to call the tow truck....do you call him ...or pay up...yes we know what you would do -
Is the important thing, the spelling or opening time???

Amazing the nativity of some folks, when confronted by a crooked cop who's determined to extort a few pesos at Xmas time. What the regulations say is what the cops interaptation is -

U.S. NOTARIZATIONS AT LCS IN AUGUST
lakeside7 replied to Ellie's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
This seems to blow the naysayers who keep saying a USA Notary can not do the job,, out of the water. I guess he has similar qualifications to Valerie relative who offers the same service..or not -
Thank you for sharing, a good presentation and property looks like it had a professional decorator and the price looks reasonable, but not for me with all the steps etc. Many years ago I went there looking for a lot for sale..with lake access...problem was you would have to be a mountain goat to get down "the cliff". I think most of the water lots are like that...or not. Whilst looking around a younger Mexican couple who were working in their "new" garden invited me to look around the recently constructed house. One of the "interesting feature was a iron security door, in the hallway leading to the master bedroom which secured that part of the house. It seems the husband who was a pilot for the defunct AeroMX was away a lot and wanted to ensure his wife felt comfortable and secure whilst he was away

I guess cheap(er) wallets are ok if you have something to put in them!!

Hud I did give two categories....(1)either by being shocked at the "normal" low wages and feeling compelled to pay a "living" wages, or (2) because we have significant discretionary income... Possible if the situation gets too stressful for folks with only "one paddle", they will have to consider seeking other locations from Ajijic... which has become "Gringofide" and too expensive a place to live. I would suggest that "we" have created the problem by making it a very desirable place to live and now some of us must face the consequences. I must admit I am a bit surprised by the number of posters who like your comment which suggest there are many more Gringos here who are facing the financial cost of living dilemma, than I expected

Folks when it comes to salery's paid.... in case you have been living under a rock, there are 2 economy's here'''them" and "us" ....either by being shocked at the "normal" low wages and feeling compelled to pay a "living" wages, or because we have significant discretionary income....we/us mostly pay over and above the local ( and Guad) Mexican community for services rendered. Regardless what you do, if you feel warm and comfortable and can sleep at night..........so be it
