  1. After 10 years here with cohetes going off every few days, I`ve realized there is no point in asking "Why?". Could be a birthday, another type of gathering, couple of guys sitting in their car late at night just setting them off, some guy down at the lake ripping a few or it could actually, as the cultural explanation goes, be a fiesta. At first, I went crazy, asking everyone "Why?" and getting angry each time ("How dare they disrupt my peace?"). The Mexican always just shrugged their shoulders, like "yeah, so what, what can you do about it?". Now, cohetes are just part of my landscape. My aural mind has evolved. But I don`t have dogs or cats so I don`t have that predicament and it must be pretty awful. So, unless you want to do battle with the priests, and you know the cops won`t do anything and the neighbors won`t do anything, you`re going to have to find a solution for yourself and your dogs.
  2. There is a battery store in Chapala on Lopez Cotilla midblock between the Avenue and Juarez on the south side of the street. Little place. They`ve always had batteries for my watches but I don`t know if they have CR2016 batteries.
  3. Which vaccine brands are being administered in Chapala? Does one have a choice? Can one choose Pfizer? Are vaccines available in a doctor`s office at this point?
  4. Here, on Chapala.com with her user name of Bonbelle.
  5. Have you tried searching for her here?
  6. Does anyone know the hospital room occupancy percentages in Chapala municipality? Are we at 50%, 70% ? I heard Jocotepec is at 100%. I see Puerta Vallarta is at 100%. Thanks.
  7. Every official in government interprets the law /rules differently. Maybe go to someone different and try again?
  8. Lake Chapala is fed by the second largest river and watershed in Mexico. The watershed is in 5 states. When these watersheds begin to dry out we will have a lot of advanced warning. And along that way, Guadalajara, the 2nd largest city in Mexico (HUGE political clout), which gets a large percent of its drinking water from Lake Chapala, will have something to say about the situation. I wouldn`t keep up all night worrying about this.
  9. The "small" river is the Lerma, the second longest river in Mexico. Almost all of our lake water comes down the Lerma. Whatever water is deposited as rain directly into the lake is evaporated.
  10. Where can one go to get rainfall numbers for Lake Chapala? Is there a good website for that?
  11. Perhaps this craft should adjust their stabilizers. They must be sick to their stomachs in there.
  12. I believe you saw an unidentified flying object. People see them all the time. The ones that bug me are the birds I can`t identify. Once you identify it and take a picture of it and swear you haven`t uploaded it to a photo editing software, I`d love to see it. But, otherwise, if you want me to believe there are spaceships flying into our Lake Chapala, noiselessly, you won`t find me with a willing ear.
  13. No, they are yellow-chevroned parakeets. Monk parakeets have a white front. The aforementioned are all green with a small amount of yellow at the front edge that is often difficult to see.
  14. Did you need to show residency papers or card to fill out the papers?
  15. I certainly would choose TotalPlay over Ilox but it seems it might be a long time before it get to Chapala. I can try Ilox now and when TP comes to Chapala I probably would switch.
  16. Chavo at Ruth Papeleria on the corner of Privada Degollado and Flavio Romero is a highly dedicated printer specialist. My printer has been under his care for a couple of years and there is nothing he can`t fix on it. And his fees are very reasonable. Tell him Brad sent ya! There are 2 Ruth Papelerias in Chapala. Don`t go to the one at Privada Degollada and Miguel Martinez!
  17. Ilox people installed their cable on my street yesterday. I know there are a lot of discussions involving Ilox on Chapala.com but I did not find what I needed. So, I ask, What is the best way to initiate Ilox fiber optics? What is the best phone number to use to contact someone there for installation? Is it best to let Ilox put in their modem or is there another that is the best one to buy? Should I purchase a router? Is there a best person to approach in Ilox? If so, do you know how to contact this person? Is there anything else, due to your experience, that you would have wanted to know in the beginning of getting Ilox installed that you know now? Thank you.
