  1. I had this Telcel pre-pay plan last time I was in the US and yes I could call Mexico and my wife could call me from home in Mexico unlimited for 21 days BUT I could not call any of my friends in the US. When I wanted to get in touch with them I had to use my friends´ where I was staying cell phones and they had to call these cell phones to get in touch with me.
  2. It is not a handwritten password on your NUT form. It is called a "contraseña" and is printed there somewhere to enter your "tramite" processing steps. It is a 5 digit number. The "pieza numero" is on the form also and is not your NUT number. Select your nut number when it advances to that webpage for your processing notes.
  3. After watching the video it appears INM doesn´t need or care about residents ever needing or need to get the bottom smaller portion of a FMM card to give when they are leaving Mexico, only the airlines seem to want this when boarding an international flight. It appears if you are a resident the airlines should not request the bottom portion from you and you can only show them your resident card and that you are not a tourist leaving Mexico and if this is the case you do not need to stop by the INM desk at all when flying or driving/walking out of Mexico. This makes sense to me because if you are a legal resident you are allowed to leave whenever you like. The airlines automatically treat you as a tourist when IMN doesn´t see it that way, I feel. The video only emphasized filling out the top, larger, portion when entering Mexico and I assume it would be the same entering Mexico by air or by land. They don´t want legal residents to mark "Tourism" in the "Purpose of your trip" portion but want you to mark "Other" and write Residente Permanante or Residente Temporal on the top of the top, larger portion when entering Mexico and that is it. There is also a box for RT or RP that you or the INM official should mark on the top portion under the heading "Only for statistical effects/purposes". The INM official seemed confused when the man asked the question about retaining the smaller bottom portion and have it stamped and handed into the airlines when leaving and she said eventulaly to keep it if you want, but I presume it is of no importance and not needed by INM at all. The INM officials didn´t mention what to do when leaving Mexico by air or land. I presume you simply leave and then when returning fill out the larger top portion when INM officials screen you and you get a new top portion to fill out everytime you enter and have no need to stamp your passport in or out. The people who are considering citizenship are the only ones who need to have a record of their exits and entrances for several years as there is a 180 day limit out of the country and should ask INM officials to stamp their passport in and out, not other legal residents. In the video a woman and then a man ask about filling out a FMM card when leaving on an international flight and the INM officials seem to only be talking about filling out the larger top portion ONLY when entering Mexico. They continue to say don´t fill out the bottom smaller portion that is only for tourists obviously still talking about entering Mexico not leaving Mexico. If they want you to fill out any portion of a FMM card when flying out or driving/walking out they surely did no even mention that. The woman asking the question first didn´t state at the airport flying out, she just stated at the airport, helped to confuse the INM officials, but the man taking the microphone from her can be heard saying when flying out at the airport, which obviously the INM officials didn´t hear because they were busy translating the woman´s question. In conclusión the 2 people asking their question did not get answered directly except the man was told not to fill out the bottom smaller portion because this is only for tourists, or in other words, don´t do anything and don´t give the airlines the tourist bottom portion filled out but seem to think they still need to stop by the INM desk at the airports in Mexico and fill out the larger top portion of a FMM card when they don´t need to because they are leaving not entering Mexico. Simply show the airlines your RT or RP card. The larger top portion is asking specifically: "Purpose of your trip" to/into/while in Mexico nothing to do with leaving Mexico. They stamp it upon your entry and enter the data into their system that you a RT or RP with your NUT number on the form [your immigration number] entered Mexico on this date etc. for statistical purposes. They keep it and you get nothing. The smaller bottom portion isn´t used because it in not relevant to any RT or RP because they do not need approval for so many days to be in Mexico or proof of beng in Mexico legally, they have their RT or RP card for that. The INM officials never mentioned needing to stamp passports either.
  4. I spent 4 years 2 hours per day learning to read Spanish from 2008 to 2012/13. It took that long to become very good and I can write somewhat and I was concentrating and not screwing around.
  5. I have always marked "other" in the boxes on both halves. Maybe that is why they always give me the correct halves each time, after all they have my RP card in front of them, but It might confuse them if you mark "tourism" on both halves. They might give you a tourist status. Who knows? The point is the FMM is a Mexican Immigration questionaire as to why you are going into Mexico, not a USA Immigration questionaire why are going into the USA or any other country. It is not to tour, or to do business, but to live in Mexico as a RT or RP so "other" would be the "Purpose of your trip" to Mexico.
  6. See the above; FMM sample filled Out Forms link Box 9 : Purpose of trip: mark other Bottom box on the top half: mark Residente Permanente card or Residente Temporal card Box 7 of the bottom half: mark other again On the last box on the bottom half: mark RT card or RP card Fill it out and give it to the INM officer - get both halves stamped and take the bottom smaller half to the airline checkin desk and give it to them or at the departure gate. Keep the larger top half and when returning hand it to the INM officer.
  7. RV the newest FMM form has printed right on it with a box to check: Residente Permanente, Residente Temporal, but as you stated you also need to mark the box beside "Other".
  8. This is not correct as far as re-entering Mexico by plane. You do not fill out a new FMM form. You can if you loose the top half of the FMM or the INM offical only gave you one half and not both or airline personnel screwed up and gave you the bottom half to keep or you gave the airline personnel the top half by mistake etc. - no big deal to do this and not against the rules or law.You retain the top half you were given leaving Mexico to hand in when re-entering Mexico. The IMN officer does not fill out the FMM form leaving Mexico so he could not process it as a tourist FMM unless you didn´t mark the box other and then the box either Residente Permanente or Residente Temporal. People who don´t recieve the top, larger half, from the INM official need to speak up and tell them that you get the top half because I need this when returning to Mexico. Also the way the article is written it is explaining the 2011 INM law and rules very poorly . It insinuates you will loose your legal resident status if the above is not done correctly - wrong and not true. You will only loose your legal resident status if you re-enter Mexico and give the INM official a filled out 180 day FMM tourist card and they stamp it and accept that your are in deed a tourist and not a legal resident of Mexico. Not leaving by air but by land most legal residents don´t ask for FMM cards [to much trouble to park and walk back to the INM office which is usually close to the car lanes entering Mexico] and retaining the top half when returning to Mexico except some of those re-entering by air. There is no real danger getting caught doing this as the INM law and rules have no sanction for it. The INM law actually states legal residents are advised to do this for statistical purposes and also those wishing to apply for citizenship need proof of their exits and re-enters from/to Mexico for several year before applying because there is a 180 total days out of Mexico limit in 3 years to qualify. Printed on bordered box on the FMM card where you X the small box for either Residente Permanent or the box for Residente Temporal it states "Únicamente Para Efectos Estadisticos" [ Only For Statistical Effects [Purposes] ].
  9. The sharing of info. when entering the US from Canada has been in effect for at least 2 years. They also track Canadians in the US so US Immigration can fine them if they spend over 182 days in a 12 month period in the US and deny them entrance if they try to re-enter before the 12 month period is up.

IMSS does all manor of heart disease treatment and so does the SP. If IMSS in your area isn´t set up for it they will refer patients to the SP nearby that does and vice versa. 13. I remember reading that in a news article also. I was downtown and after reading this thread I went into a fully supplied "Head Shop" and they had 2 makes of them and cartridges. One type was larger and didn´t need a cartride, the tortoise shell colored ones. I know what they are used for as I saw them in bars and on the beach in Puerto Vallarta.
  14. In Baja California in my many trips from San Diego and living there since 2006 until 2011 part time I was pulled over by police 16 times. The most often was when my then newer Maxima had no front license plate. When the car got older only for my traffic mistakes as I got new plates after a few years. I paid mordida twice and it was my fault I got pulled over. Only once did they take me to pay the fine for running a 4 way stop. The rest I argued with them and they got tired of dealing with me and left. One time the 2 cops left very angry by spinning their tires on a gravel parking lot and spraying the front of my car with gravel. After moving full time to SLP and having a locally plated car not once and I drive now like the locals breaking the rules in front of police when I feel like it or need to. They drive here a certain way and for example you slam on your brakes to avoid going through a yellow/red light or pothole you might be rear ended. I was rear ended twice and almost twice more but heard the screeches and excellerated through the pot holes fast while the cars just touched my bumper. Now I swerve around potholes [and cars parked 4 or 5 feet from the curb or cars and trucks entering from a side street past the parking lane and 4 or 5 feet into a traffic lane through a stop sign and into the other lane of traffic] like everyone else and everyone in that lane swerves to avoids you hitting them. If you don´t know the game here you will eventually be rear ended or side swiped. Some cars and trucks end up part way up on the curb on the grass of divided blvds. when everyone has to swerve. Just great for their alignment. Everyone and I do this in front of police and they never do anything. We can park where ever we want and they only regulate, ticket and wheel clamp in Centro where they have parking machines you pay at and get a slip of paper to put on your dashboard 6AM to 8PM except Sundays [free]. You can double park, park 3 or 4 feet from curbs anywhere on narrow one way streets in Centro blocking everyone and on very wide one way streets or triple park and bottleneck the 6 lanes [2 parking lanes] down to 1 or 2 lanes with no problem. Autos repair and tire shops places can block 1/2 a traffc lane while reparing cars. Vendor carts can block a parking lane and 1/2 a traffic lane as long as they have a city permit. I have seen people eating on stools in the street at these carts and cars swerving around them at 30 MPH. Small motos [scooters] drive between lanes to get in front at red lights and then slow down everyone when it is rush hour. I just swerve around them as do many drivers to get them out of out way. 4 people on a scooter... father and mother and baby between them and the older child standing up where your feet go is a common sight and scares me: No helmets almost on everyone here and if they have one it is usualy unstrapped. No one usually wears seat belts.

The TIP is valid only as long as the associated visa is valid. When we fly out, we surrender the visitor's visa and INM cancels it. That makes the TIP vehicle automatically illegal to drive, unless you get a Retorno Seguro permit. Since many TIP holders carry a copy of Article 106 in their car, we can go back to our 'old friend' Article 106 of the Ley Aduanera (the section expats have used for over a decade to show police how long our TIP is good for).:" This applies to Mexican citizens only. Foreigners with an INM document are suspossed to turn in their TIP every time they drive out and when they return get a new TIP If the above post is correct. "Validity The term to return the temporarily imported vehicles by Mexicans residents in a foreign country will be of 180 natural days of effective stay in the country, starting from the date of entry of the vehicle to national territory and usable in a period of twelve months, considering multiple entries and exits, guaranteed in all moments by the existing guarantee. The term to return the temporarily imported vehicles by foreigners will be that of the term of their stay condition granted by the immigration authorities." http://www.sat.gob.mx/aduanas/vehiculos/importacion_temporal/Paginas/automoviles_ingles.aspx

""The term to return the temporarily imported vehicles by foreigners will be that of the term of their stay condition granted by the immigration authorities. " Authorized term = 180 days for the TIP: FMM tourist card = 180 days when applying for the TIP = TIP is valid for 180 days "[the term of their stay condition granted by the immigration authorities. ]" . I see nowhere where it is against the law to leave the car in Mexico and hand in your valid for 180 day FMM tourist card say 3 months early and then 2 weeks later get another 180 day FMM tourist card when re-entering Mexico and still return to the border before the 180 day TIP expires, hand in the TIP, get your deposit back and then hand in your second FMM tourist card early.
  17. You took my post and twisted it around. Fear mongering is one of several things trolls try to do which has nothing to do with the TIPs or FMM tourist cards mentioned by me.
  18. Of course he is but he is not the person posting this: "a person said the following: " Our car permit is in my husband's name (we're on tourist visas). He had to fly out yesterday to care for his mom for awhile. When the plane was just about to take off, they found him and he had to pay a 390 peso fine because he's leaving the car behind. Word to the wise! "
  19. http://www.sat.gob.mx/aduanas/vehiculos/importacion_temporal/Paginas/automoviles_ingles.aspx "The term to return the temporarily imported vehicles by foreigners will be that of the term of their stay condition granted by the immigration authorities. Return: In order to register and obtain the receipt of the partial or definitive return of the vehicle, the interested party must present before the personnel of BANJERCITO working at the CIITEV Units of the customs offices of exit of the vehicle, the permit, hologram and, when applicable, the recreational vehicles and the tow for its transportation that have been temporarily imported." If I understand it correctly if you have a 180 day FMM tourist card you are good to go for 179 days before you legally have to return to the border and turn in the TIP and receive your deposit back. It doesn´t mention what happens if you turn in your FMM tourist card and leave the country and then return with a new 180 day FMM tourist card before the TIP expires but won´t the TIP have the original 180 day expiration date on it? It appears you will get the TIP canceled and your deposit back if you show up at the border within the original 180 days and turn it in. Also I am leery of posts that seem strange from posters I don´t know are not trolls on any Mexico forum. I´ve read some obviously false testimonies so many times it appears to me some people are simply bashing Mexico and Mexicans and fear mongering.
  20. A Mexican National with proof of dual citizenship or living in the US with a US Permanent Resident visa/card with proof of Mexican Citizenship can get a TIP good for 12 months with multiple exits and entries for a total of 6 months in Mexico with the vehicle every 12 month period.
  21. Google Translation: "About notification of updates: If you hold the status of temporary resident or permanent resident, you must notify the Institute [iNM] within ninety calendar days of the occurrence, changes in marital status, nationality, address or workplace." http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/usuarios Appears they only require the above changes that you need to update with them.
  22. I looked at the SRE, Mexican Consulate form you complete and take to your interview at a Mexican consulate and the address they want is your current address in the country you are applying in. Once you are preapproved and take your needed paperwork to your local INM office in Mexico an address might be needed but I have read even a hotel will be OK at that point. Don´t worry about it.
  23. Did they ask for the $1124 pesos processing fee or was it another fee or free?
  24. Never is a long time and in some circumstances it might be foolish to stick to your value of never paying a cop to let you go on your way in Mexico. I have been stopped 15 times in 9 years and did pay mordida 2 times. I was asked to "help them out" 4 more times and thought it wise with those police at that time to ask to follow them to the office to pay the ticket. All these times I was driving a California plated car. 4 times I followed them to the office to pay and 3 of the cops didn´t go into the driveway to the office and I waited for them to return and they didn´t show up so I left. The most I paid was $110 USD and was relieved at 4:30 AM to pay it as these 2 cops were very abusive and might have done something ugly to me had I not given into their aggressive demands. The other time I had expired tags and had been south for months and parked my car at my house in Mexicali and the tags were in San Diego and would have had my car impounded and missed a day or two so gave him $300 pesos to go on my way. Using discretion is always a good thing to do and not worry about what might happen if you run into someone who is willing to make your life a nightmare over a few dollars. IMO
