  1. Spencer, could you please step in here and let me know the situation.  Thanks.

You do not need to be Temporal before becoming Permanente.  You may apply for it directly from a Consulate outside of Mexico.  You will be approved as long as you can prove income requirements.  If income is joint, you will need to show original marriage certificate and it will possibly need an Apostille.

This is not guess work on my part.  The information is directly from Immigration as well as an attorney here.

  2.  (1)  My husband has had his Permanente for about 2 years.

    (2)  I come into Mexico on a Visitors' Visa and now wish to apply for my Permanente.  I had understood that I could make the application from the Mexican Consulate in Toronto, and when I receive the paperwork bring it back to Ajijic and submit the application within 30 days.

    (3)  I have subsequently read that I must have a Temporale for 2 years before applying for a Permanente, because my husband already has his Permanente.

Can somebody please clarify this for me or know if there's any way around this to shorten the process.  Otherwise it sounds as if I won't be able to get it for 3 years and I'm concerned in the event we need to sell our home, which is in both our names.

Any accurate help would be most appreciated.  Thank  you.

  3. Computer Guy - I don't know if this will give you any more info to help resolve the Outlook problem, but this occurred shortly after using TunnelBear.  I used it last year and don't remember having this problem.  After that I started getting Google emails telling me about unusual activity on my account, so I changed my Google password.  Then I re-entered what I thought was my Outlook password.  And things went from bad to worse.  So I'm still up the creek.

  4. Thanks for your suggestions.  I didn't have any luck with the first part of your suggestion.  I went through many Microsoft code retrievals and answering questions which culminated in my receiving an email from Microsoft as follows:

We recently received a request to recover your Microsoft account. Unfortunately, our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership.  Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously, and our commitment to protecting your personal information requires that we take the utmost care in ensuring that you are the account owner.

Please submit a new account verification form.

At this point I don't feel comfortable submitting a new form which asks many more questions.  I don't really understand what a Microsoft account has to do with Outlook.

So I clicked on your second suggestions and got the following message:

admin.google.com is for G Suite accounts only. Regular Gmail accounts cannot be used to sign in to admin.google.com. Learn more

So I'm still locked out of my Outlook account and searching for a resolution.  Really hope you can help me.

  5. I'm being driven to distraction by this persistent "Enter Network Password" message popping up in Outlook 2007 for the past 2 days.   I'm unable to send  or receive emails.  I've tried changing Passwords and am having no luck.

Incidentally this coincided with receiving an email from Google saying " Sign-in attempt was blocked for your linked Google Account".  I changed my Password and then this Outlook problem began.

Can some brilliant person please help me  Many thanks.

  6. We have two wonderful, large bath mats that over time have become a very pale blue and consequently need washing about once a month.

Can someone please recommend a place that would dye them a darker colour to avoid wearing them out with all the washing?  Many thanks.

  7. We returned to Lakeside to discover that our maid is pregnant.

She works one day a week for 5 hours for approximately 6 months, and 2.5 hours a week for the other 6 months.  We have read various things on the Web Board with differing information, so can someone please let us know what are our legal obligations?  Many thanks.

$849 pesos is a little expensive.  On .com I'm looking at the Logitech Wireless Combo Mk520 With Keyboard and Mouse Bundle for $26.99.  When I looked at shipping options, it told me it was used.  So back to the drawing board.

It helps if you use a desktop computer or laptop with Google Translate if you don't have a command of the language.  It is nice to have the pages instantly translated so I can read the descriptions and specs.  I also do a lot of my searching by going to the department then looking for the translated item I need as opposed to doing a word search. For example, I wanted a bench to go at the end of the bed but had no clue what they call it here in Mexico. I went to the department Furniture, then Bedroom, then looked from there.

Good idea but I just realized I probably won't get an English language keyboard from .mx

I used to have a link to translate a whole page but I appear to have lost it - it just says Translating but nothing happens - do you have the website, please.

I am having great luck with Amazon Mexico all of a sudden. Just ordered a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo as construction dust destroyed the one that I had. It arrived in two days.

When I moved here four months ago Amazon didn't seem to have anything I was looking for but now that they have opened the Guad warehouse, I'm pleased with selection, price, and shipping - most of the time.

Thanks for the tip - I was just looking at Amazon.com last night but will try .mx

  11. My Microsoft keyboard is acting crazy.

When I hit the letter c, it inserts a paragraph return.

Shift key is not working on left side of keyboard.  Control V for paste doesn't paste the material copied with the Control C function.

When these errors occur, a green light flashes on the lower corner of my keyboard.  I just put in new batteries, so I'm really baffled.  Please help.

  12. Just returned from 6 months to find water spots on four floor to ceiling glass patio doors.  Tried Windex and White Vinegar and it doesn't make any difference.  It seems the sprinklers were watering our windows for 4-6 weeks and the marks are probably etched into the glass.

Does anyone know if  there is a company in Ajijic that may be able to remove such stains?  Failing that, it appears we may have to have them re-glazed, so we need a recommendation for a reliable company to do that.  From a cost point of view, would it make any sense to get new doors instead of having them re-glazed?

    Any knowledgeable info much appreciated.

You can try downloading and installing TunnelBear from here: https://www.tunnelbear.com/download

This is a VPN or Virtual Private Network that is very simple to use, and gives you a limited amount of connection time every month. Once it is installed, you select Canada as your country, which makes it look like you are actually in Canada. It works most of the time, and is an easy and cheap way to test your requirements. If it works, and you can get into your Plus account (no idea why you are blocked, when my own PCFinancial account has no problems), then you just fire up the program every time you need to access the account.

YIPPEE - Computer Guy, you're a genius - I FINALLY got into my account - thank you so much.  Do I close the TunnelBear when I'm not using it or just leave it open?  Will there be an icon to click on if I need it for another website?

PC Financial isn't blocking - only PCPlus because accounts were hacked and points stolen. Seems silly to be able to get into one's bank account from Mexico but not the points account - those people in Mexico are trying to steal points, not $$$ ?  ....

I agree completely - I've wasted numerous hours on this stupid issue.

Many thanks for your suggestion.  I just downloaded TunnelBear and created an account.  I think I might be getting somewhere after my bear tunneled from Mexico to Canada.  I'll have to wait and see what happens after trying to re-set my password.  I'll keep you posted.

I use PIA - Private Internet Access ..... download it to your computer and use it when you need it. There are free apps but this one costs $$ and works better than the other ones I've tried

Sorry if I'm uneducated but what will PIA do for me and how do I use it?  What is the cost and is it annual?  Why is is better than the freebies?  At the moment, the only website I get Access Denied is for PCPlus.  Thanks.

Yes - I had the same problem until I used my VPN and made PCPlus think I was accessing from Canada - they are obviously in high security mode and blocking account access from Mexico ...... if you have a VPN  server, see if it works for you with PC Points .....

Thanks for your reply.  I need some help - I don't know what VPN is or how to make it think I'm accessing it from Canada.  Help, please !!  I got yet another PC Plus email today asking me to re-set my password and got the same result.  This must be at least the 12th email I've received.  Such a time waster.
