    You Suck at Cooking

I had fun with that. Thanks, Chillin.
  2. SAT was part of the original area that ILOX said they'd cover. Never heard anything about stopping at Walmart. I'm in SAT and have a contract with them.

    Product Of The Week

This thread is alarming. You all love the same thing I do. Herdez Salsa Casera. For reasons unknown, it will now disappear from production and never be seen again. (in advance of the earnest explanations that we would all appreciate... joke!)
  4. Check the state that you moved from. California lists 5 (I think) criteria for paying state taxes. I no longer qualify.
  5. Furniture for Less in San Antonio. Formerly C&D. In the strip shops with Sunrise Restaurant and Oxxo. Hidalgo 119, San Antonio Tlayacapan, 45915 Ajijic, Jal., Mexico
  6. I once killed the hard drive on a brand new computer by plugging in a USB thumb drive. Shorted it somehow. It's a record, even for me.
  7. Second rec for Mike Riley, the Computer Guy on this forum. Good prices, very knowledgeable. And patient with people who break computers by looking at them. 👍 765--4156 mike@ajijiccomputing.com
  8. I don't understand. Buying gas for your car is "dumbassery"?
  9. Most of the people I saw in line were Mexican, which makes sense because most of the population here is Mexican.
  10. Those pictures above are in San Antonio, starting almost to Superlake going west. It is tightly controlled by police. This is the only line. If you want gas, if you're coming from the West (Ajijic), got through the libramento intersection in front of Walmart, staying on the carratera west toward Superlake. They are moving traffic into a bypass, but it moves fast. If you want gas, hang a u-turn somewhere around Superlake to get in the line the other way. You'll see how far down you need to go. Maybe around Panino's would be easier. From the east (Chapala), just head toward San Antonio. The lanes are controlled around Superlake. Gas to your right, other traffic to the left. There is even a hand held sign. I've never seen the police so well organized here. I
  11. I know. When I wrote my post, I had to edit out all the "so sad's". It bordered on depressingly drippy.
  12. So sad to tell you all that Salvatore left and is no longer managing Cinco Potrillos. As happens to so many of our favorites here, the lease was raised and he couldn't afford it. So .. that's all folks. He was the brains, energy, cooked...he also had a relative helping with the cooking... but it's all gone. When we checked, he doesn't have any prospects of opening a new place. Confirmed today that he's not there anymore. He really appreciated the people who dropped in from this forum. I don't have any good news to give you.
  13. Thanks for sharing. Never hear of these lights. Verrrrry interesting.
  14. I started ordering Costco's very reasonable eggs from them.. safely delivered. Also ofc all frozen items, including ice cream. Some routine pharmacy items aren't listed, so I ask for them in the comments. Have had good luck with that. Also anything I'm curious about, I ask them to check for me. I try to do it as an order, for instance, that large 14 inch frying pan Costco always seems to carry. Excellent service.
  15. That map is great. It's easy to find. Drive on the main road into Ixtla., through the plaza. Continue one block, turn left. One block, left again. It's in the middle of the block on the left. I don't post on TOB, so if anyone wants to copy my first post over there, (and add to it or whatever), feel free. Full permission.
  16. The last time I ordered, I was told the tip was included in the price I was given. Apparently, YMMV. 😃 No idea when this went up, but there is now a message on the website: “Lakeside Food Delivery” will remain closed until further notice, do to improvements for a better service. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  17. This is true. When dogs become a problem to the community, they are rounded up and killed. Putting pressure on community leaders isn't a good idea. I won't name places where this happens, but it's common knowledge.
  18. I did that. The message is going via a friend, but since he has events, that would be perfect for him.
  19. I think there are a lot of different rationals packed into "returning to be near the grand kids". It's our local socially acceptable excuse. And that's great. I think a big adjustment for many people coming here is to the rural environment. That doesn't feature much in all the promotion of the Lakeside area. It can be a big deal for some people after years of living here.
  20. MC, sorry, I don't have that info. I have a sample menu, but it's not on there or the Facebook page. Your best bet is to call. Salvatore, 333 507 0722
  21. My friend from Ixtla. was with me. She reluctantly switched over to other village restaurants... there aren't many, as you know. She's switching back to 5 Potrillos again. Has eaten there twice since I went, takes her own favorite wine like she used to - that was fine with Salvatore. Quite pleased with all the dishes she tried.
  22. It looks like Pancho's family doesn't have much to do with the restaurant now, other than perhaps leasing or renting the space. The tables and chairs are the same. When I was there, it was quite slow. It has a long way to go to rebuild clientele.
  23. Great news for fans of Los 5 Potrillos in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos. New manager, Salvadore; new menu, all food and drink stocked. It's been (re)opened for about 3 months. Salvadore impressed us with his hard work to turn this old favorite around. He's running a Sunday, all you can eat buffet, from 8:30 am to 1 pm. He's put a grill out in the dining room to display his cooking, in addition to the buffet. 80p adults, 50p for children under 12. He's putting in a pizza oven and will start offering pizzas around December 1st. He spent 15 years working at a pizza place in the States, so I'm looking forward to this. The prices are really reasonable, a lot of dishes 45 - 60p. Plates, for example, mole poblano, 60p. Burritos, 45p. He's planning a New Year's Eve party with mariachis. Lots of energy and creativity going into this, as you can see. I'm wishing him good luck. Have a lot of fond memories of this place.
