  1. I paid in cash also. I was told I'd receive a check in 2-3 weeks. They said they'd call when it was ready. Then they took my telephone number when I asked if they had it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Ah, yes.
  2. Shouldn't the person who thought the green tire was a doughnut get a special forum award? Cause that was a golden moment. I'm voting 10/10.
  3. I sent you an email. There are bad words and tear stains. But I met Pete for the first time so the day was a win. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. Well, I was in front of Pete at the Ilox office and was told there would be no installations in 3-5 months. I had an 22 month old contract in my hand from being an early adopter in the signup for service. We asked the question several ways to make sure there was no mistake in her message. I also asked if it was okay to tell anyone I met that there would be no new installations for 3 - 5 months. I was trying to make sure that her message wasn't just for me for whatever reason that might have been. Actually I was thinking of this board. She said yes, tell everyone. As a result I cancelled my contact with the year advance payment and will receive a refund. If you want to make up a story that this isn't true, I suggest you check with Ilox first. Edit: On second thought, the story about the equipment being delayed at the border, that I'm not defending. You can tell stories about that to your heart's content.
  5. El Doc is a large, well known eventos in SAT, at La Paz and Priv La Paz. The noise used to be intolerable music and cohetes until 2 am on weekends. etc. The locals took up a petition which apparently half the town signed from what I saw. The noise is much better now. Cohetes usually finish before 10 or 11 and they aren't as loud and long as they used to be. Usually. And never the all night sessions that we used to have. So noise abatement is possible. https://www.facebook.com/eldocterrazadeeventos
  6. Dee closed her kennel and retired. She didn't sell it. Second Carlos as an excellent trainer. I'm looking forward to seeing his new kennel, haven't been yet.
  7. San Antonio was quieter this year for the June festival. The story was that Chapala had run out of money for cohetes, so they were fewer. It would be too much to hope that the condition lasts for a while.
  8. Try washing with a vinegar water solution. It won't take all the smell out, but it's better than only soap and water. Nature's Miracle is the brand name of the enzyme that's suppose to neutralize dog urine. I haven't had luck with it either. We use Odoban which used to be available at Sam's. I don't know if they still carry it. It's hospital strength disinfectant and order control. Since you have porous tile, you've got a tough problem, but these are the things I'd use.
  9. Totally agree with Ferret. A vet knowledgeable about nutrition and your dog's needs is your best bet. If you don't want to feed Virbac, Hector will give you other options. I also recommend Hector for this issue. Getting opinions on this forum would be as wild as googling "dog food reviews". Which I DON"T recommend. ๐Ÿ˜€
  10. The entitlement in this thread to discuss another person's bereavement without permission or invitation is astonishing to me. Being lectured on how we should be enlarged by the existence of All Soul's Day is personally offensive. I usually talk myself out of posting on this forum when I'm ticked off. Probably should have followed my rule here.

    Joe

I've taken my own frames to Rios's office before. Had no problems, but they were nothing special plastic. Never occurred to me that this type of theft would be a problem anywhere. We are warned. Thanks for posting.
  12. And please, never refer to yourself as a Techno-Moron. We, who might be slightly techno challenged, like to refer to ourselves as "Delighted Clients of Brilliant Tech Specialists", who are certainly entitled to call people who don't employ them morons.
  13. I don't walk my dogs myself. I don't bag dog poop for that reason. I don't carry dog poop. I don't drop dog poop - my knowledge, but my memory isn't getting any better as I age. I'm now traumatized that I might accidentally drop a bag of dog poo (that is not in my possession, as I've explained) on a side walk somewhere on the North Shore of Lake Chapala. I must apologize in advance should that happen.

    salt in food

I've had two friends who got very ill from putting themselves on no salt diets, thinking it would be healthy. If you've made assumptions and self diagnosed your salt intake, run it by your doctor. I also was told to eat more salt.
  15. My neighbor started a noise petition among his friends and church members a few years ago, eventually got half of San Antonio to sign from what I saw of it. If you live around El Doc eventos in south SAT, it's the reason we don't hear cohetes and loud music late into the early morning anymore. The local Mexicans were just as annoyed by the obnoxious noise as gringos. They were especially upset with Tapatรญos coming here on the weekends, when noise ordinances were enforced in Guadalajara. So just my 2 cents on assuming automatically that nothing can be done with local officials on the literally insufferable noise we experienced this weekend.
  16. Reviving this topic for new information. I have an 11 year old dog with cataracts. Dr Ladron has a relatively new treatment that stops the growth of cataracts. It's been out for about a year. It's a daily pill. I'd recommend anyone concerned about cataracts in their pups see him.
  17. Room for all in Art's class So, more news. Art is splitting his class, starting Sunday, Sept. 22, into two groups. Big dogs and medium/small. If you were turned away because the class filled, that's all changed now with this new arrangement. There is room. Contact Art for info and scheduling. I'll be in the afternoon class with the lovely, "you call this a beagle, seriously?", Bobbi. See ya there.
  18. Wow. Just talked to Art. This class is full already. That says a lot about the great dog people around here. He is planning another class with mid-January start date. So contact him for details or early sign up or whatever.
  19. Tremendous news for those of us with dogs. After hearing that Art is starting his class again, it took me 2 seconds to decide which of my miscreants is going. Art is starting a 6 week, basic obedience class on Sunday, Sept 22 at Pat Lawrie's old dog park in San Antonio. It's between La Floresta and San Antonio on Ramon Corona, #166. 10:30 to noon. If you're interested, call or email Art for details. artthedogguy@yahoo.com 766-3580
  20. You guys are hilarious. Every once in a while this forum soars. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  21. Just to recap, Alex Peterson is still in the delivery business, generally once a month. He also moves people and boxes to or from the States. Last time I talked to him, that's an important part of his business, although he still does local driving, facilitation, etc. Last year, he took my van to get the smog certificate. Had to chase all over for it and ended up going to Guad because it was the last day. I couldn't recommend him more highly.
  22. Give Alex Peterson a call before you write him off. His fees are quite reasonable. He beats regular movers by a good amount. It's worth checking out.
  23. lb Furniture, in the strip mall with Sunrise Restaurant and OXXO, in San Antonio carries recliners. Plus they have catalogues and you can check on line for the brands they carry. They have the motorized or pull type. This is the store that used to be C&D furniture years ago. They have all the samples for upholstery and will order whatever you want. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ib+Furniture+%26+Accessories/@20.2961044,-103.2376018,18.75z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x842f41365d0a28c5:0x7e87c840da0b430!2sSan+Antonio+Tlayacapan,+45900+Ajijic,+Jalisco,+Mexico!3b1!8m2!3d20.2929811!4d-103.2389353!3m4!1s0x842f413392c1ce65:0x2a7b3422033a8b30!8m2!3d20.2961625!4d-103.2366686
  24. A well seasoned cast iron pan is a thing of beauty. I wouldn't cook eggs in cast iron, because why. They pick up the seasoning and have an irony flavor. But as a substitute for grilling indoors, at high heat, it's hard to beat. Food doesn't stick. I've had the ones I brought here for 30 years. Before that they were the only 2 things that survived a fire that burned down a house. I got it them at a yard sale from a teary woman who almost decided not to part with them because they were her grandma's (she of the burned out house). I promised to take care of them. So they are cherished Wagner's and damn near indestructible, since I have no plans to actually nuke them. Now that I think of it, this story is a good as the pans. And as for cleaning, whisk with water while they're hot (mine have never warped) and dry on low flame. Dot with oil and wipe with paper towel. Can't imagine anything being easier. That's a non-stick clean up in my book. Of course, I defend with my last breath CG's right to despise cast iron and the horse it rode in on.
