  1. I've been gone from the USA a long time but, I thought obama care was free for all?
  2. It would be nice if they'd grab those who are sharing my lane and passing on both sides. They should also ask the operator what the solid yellow line means?
  3. Yes, in past years different administrations have purchased Sat photos and they caught me with a bodega and pool I had not initially been assessed on. I challenged their interpretation and footage. They said they would come out and look and measure and I said no. I got an architect who drew up what existed currently and they billed me for the back taxes, no penalty.
  4. There really needs to be a site that list each frac and condos regulations where prospective can view the rules cost and restrictions. This way buyers could eliminate certain areas early and easily and get on with their search.
  5. Amazon would not refund these extortion charges by Mailboxes especially with no paperwork.
  6. Do you really have to have the car physically in Calif to renew tags? That is not true for most states. Generally it can be done online of by phone. They really just want your money. I finally switched mine to South Dakota, but primarily for their lack of having to have a physical safety inspection.
  7. I don't do business with Mailboxes San Antonio for this very reason. I paid it once and asked for a receipt, They said they couldn't give me one/ Next time a package came in they left me a not that I owed duty. I asked how much and then to please show me the info from Aduana. They said there was no paper on this. I asked how they knew how much to charge and they couldn't/wouldn't tell me. This was on a free book some well intended folks sent me and so was of course much more than the book. I said hell no, keep it. A couple of months later they asked if I wanted the book and just gave it to me. The only possible answer to this is any duty they collect (if that is what it is) they simply pocket. I left and took mu business a block west. Strange they won't just give you the bill and let you go pay it at the airport Aduana.
  8. I see a flight up on Monday June 3 for $2525mn which appears to be the last one. The worst thing about Volaris is their lousy web site.
  9. This year I switched from Chopo to Best Labs At Best Lab 12/2018 $1115.80 with Boomers disc On the Caraterra in Riberas on Lake side #248 Hidalgo open at 07:30 and showed up on time. 10. My spouse and I took the ETN first class buss to N. Laredo several years ago. It was clean and comfortable. It stopped around 02:45 in Monterrey and terminated it's trip in south Laredo several Kilometers from the frontier. The bus had a hostess who passed out cold sodas and las botanas. Our trip is over night and not much to see, having departed Guadalajara about 19:00 and arriving about 06:30. The distance from the frontier was a problem. Finally we got aa taxi and it was very expensive at that early morning hour. We walked across and found the rental car agency downtown was gone and at the airport only. Another expensive taxi. In my college years I took the the Aguila Azteca from Laredo to Mexico DF. The beautiful train had really nice rolling stock from MP and two Mex Fero Carillo pulman cars. It was entertaining and had vista dome cars as well as a great diner. It took from boarding at 19:00 day one to arrive 20:30 on day 2. The sleeping was really good and meals were delightful. The paper work was a snap, of course in those days we crossed the border with shotguns to shoot white wings with no paperwork. or inspection.
  11. A friend in Tlaquepaque bought an electric fat tire bike on Alibaba Express delivered in Mexico. Loves it. He Rides every Sunday doen Rio Nilo to Tonala. As I recall price about $900 USD. Doesn't the Carretera bike shop in Ajijic on Mountain side of road have them? (just west of Pemex)

Dave, I have an extra package of Natural Hog Casings. I can sell you. They are new in the pkg never opened. I'll check but think I've used all my collagen casings. I now just use plastic tubes for breakfast sausage.

  13. This may be a long shot but it is certainly worth trying. Download the Hiya app (free) from google play store for android and from apple store. Hiya does require that you have data so only try this if you have data on your plan. It will let the phone ring but shows on the screen if it has been reported as marketing call so you can decline. I put it on my Mexican ATT phone and thought it probably would not work but I have been surprised several times as it showed Mexican telemarketers.
  14. Yes absolutely. It is where I go up the toll roads to Laredo and around Lakeside and through Guadalajara and over to Colima and Cuyutlan. It was fine down the coast from PV to Acapulco. Good in Guatamala in metro and tourist areas, Good in Columbia and really spotty to non-existent in Chile. It is great in the USA as well. Unlimited calling to and in Mexico, EAU, and Canada.
  15. Switch to AT&T. I have had AT&T for 2 years and have no such spam, for now. You won't have to change phones just a new SIM card as they share the same frequency range.
  16. For availability and cost check https://www.farmatodo.com.mx/index.php

Where is Benno computer located  n ow?

  19. Auto Zone at the Walmart intersection will test the battery for you. Just drive uup and go and ask for test. They will do it in the car and show you the test. They will replace it if needed quickly. They did this to my dying battery 2 months age.
  20. There is too often "a cloud on the title" of much of that property. I have known gringos who have lost their homes after many trials up to the supreme court of Jalisco. The court ruled that since they gringos had built a residence they could live there until they died or moved but then the property went to the pretender who had never paid a centavo of taxes. They seem to come out of the wood work over there. The pretender to the property claimed that the property had belonged to his collective family many years ago and that when it was sold all members of his family had not signed on to the sale. This was several generations ago. We haven't had title companies here in Mexico like in the USA or Canada but several years ago Stewart Title had opened here (Guadalajara). They were actually researching the titles back for many years and if they approved you bought their title insurance. There were many properties they would just not insure. In theory Notarios research the title and insure that it is clear and seller has the right to the property and to the sale. In reality courts often overturn the Notarios decision on the title. I don't know if Stewart Title has survived here. They are really big in Texas. If I couldn't get title insurance I wouldn't play their shell game.
  21. Of course it could be mostly folks interested in pain relief who just won't take their narcotic prescription because they are afraid of it's side effects.
  22. As I recall NAFTA exempted autos from duty, including used cars. When the deal was done and signed all around the Mexican auto dealers assn. raised cane and Mexico never honored the used car importation rules. It they had there would be no need for the $300 deposit. In the late 80s and early 90s folks used to drive to Panama or Costa Rica and sell their Travelalls for more than they could in the USA and fly home. Not a bad way to spend 2-3 months. None of the countries going south needed a deposit including the country where you sold the car.
  23. We have used Intercam and gotten pretty good rates,. They skim about 70¢ to 75¢ (centavos) off every dollar. The Very best rate will be at an ATM, you get very close to actual FX rates. Check the actual rate here
  24. Interesting side note: Years ago the GR article said the bomberos hate fighting a fire there as there were too many rattlesnakes. I hope they have snakeproof gaiters. I am always amazed that snakes seem to survive the brush fires. It is probably the same guy sets them year after year.
