  1. That is a strange phobia since nearly all Mexican long haul buses carry a second driver in a compartment below forward of the luggage area.
  2. Yes they are elaborate, but the money would have been better spent on patching pot holes and removing topes.
  3. Parking will be difficult to find on the street. Just pull in at the front door and use valet parking.
  4. I received my bill this AM by email and this PM by post.
  5. It has been a while but we have used Edgar 331-068-6029 or 765-3559 Hidalgo 234A Riberas del Pilar. I don't know if he is still around. There is also a marble & granite shop in west Ajijic before the fish market. I tis on the south (lake) side lateral facing the Carretera. It used to belong to Rudy Rentreia and you can see marble and granite in the front. Granite doesn't much stain so you probably have marble or marmol which stains easily.
  6. They have stated that it will run into the homes that are ready (have polyducto to the location where the FO will terminate). Must be no short radius turns.
  7. The "Trained" in Spain work mainly on the sprained
  8. Basically you can make an appointment for tomorrow if you will drive or taxi to Guadalajara for the appointment.
  9. We have had an offer from Telmex to install the fiber optic internet to a group of houses. The install will have to be paid up front and is expensive. After 20+ years I just don't trust Telmex to deliver the "up to" 30,000 mbs they promise. I think their ads should include an "at least" figure. Does anyone have this Fiber Optic from Telmex and what is your speed experience and outage history? Also do they throttle your speed after a couple of weeks of streaming?
  10. If you are looking for a less expensive wall consider Panel Wall with concrete foundation and brick post with rebar post. I have some close to me that I watched being built 21 years ago. The are stucco finished and the bricks left natural. They look fine and were much less expensive than my brick walls. The look the same after 20 years. They will have to be kept painted every 4-5 years.
  11. I have used battery maintainers for many years. Those battery tenders will boil out the water over time, so be sure to check it when you get back. I finally put my tender on a timer while I am gone and do 2 hours a day of power. It won't take much to keep it up. As for ;unhooking the battery while you are gone, be sure you have the radio code to re-enter as it will lock out radio operation without a charge for some time.
  12. Lakeside you can probably get a norteno to come by or a local mechanic. It all areas around it is the Taxis that provide a jump start. Just flag down a Taxi from Juarez to Progresso and he has cables or will radio another taxi for you. This was a real surprise to me 30 years ago that I have had to use a few times since.
  13. Go to Autozone and one of the young men will put a tester on the battery. If it is the battery they will carry one out to the car and install it. No wait, no muss, no fuss. This is where I start
  14. We had the same problem several years ago. Antonio was the 5th plumber to try to find it. He did. The gas is under really low pressure 4-6 psi. Antonio unhooked at the tank regulator and adapted an air compressor to the pipe. He put 30 psi into the line then searched and listened. Yep it was under the marble floor. He was able to dig down in a bodega that had replacable tile and repaired the leak. Bright guy. Antonio, cell 331-361-6610 or home 766-5338
  15. It is very difficult in Mexico as they tax rolls are not complete and they do not require a house be registered with the municipality. If you go to municipal building in Chapala and ask to look at the plat for the neighborhood or frack they will ask you why? But be open and friendly and they might show it to you so you will at least know section and lot number. Or you might ask a realtor to see if he can find out as you might want to make an offer.
  16. Perhaps now that Chapala has it's own transito department the municipal government gets the fines?
  17. The Topes are not effective if a vehicle hits them at any speed. A vehicle being surprised and hitting the first tope finds it is more airborne than in contact with the pavement. The obvious maneuver at that point is to hit the brakes which are not as effective as the tires are not in full contact with the pavement.
  18. The plumber who installs it for you will adjust the regulator for a good flame in the WH and stove as well. I have never seen one of the tube meters here. It is all by sight.
  19. There is NO legally mandated annual raise per year.
  20. I was simply pointing out where to easily buy the sliced packaged corned beef. Of course I make my own and sometimes buy the finished product as well. Most people here are more interested in buying finished product. I have not seen it for sale here, but I am glad you have. Perhaps you should list where it is available for those who want to know. Many people here do not need a whole brisket nor do they have curing space in their refrigerator. The product at Costco's is by no means inferior, I know because I've bought it several times. I only corn a brisket a couple of times a year now and run out between times. When did you last purchase the Costco sliced corned beef? Perhaps the supplier has changed since then.
  21. Next time you are in Costco look in the specialty cases in front of the meat, roasted chicken area. They sell a two pack of good sliced corned beef usually on the top shelf on your left, we open one package and freeze the other. These cases have specialty cheese and packaged refrigerated foods. Add that to some of the rye or pumpernickel bread from Superlake and you are on you way to some good eating.
  22. You think that comparing the cost of living between countries makes no sense? But it does. you can live in one cheaper than the other especially if your currency is from the most expensive.
  23. You are safe going with the Federal Holiday, today.
  24. The difference is compensated for by cheaper construction here so the comparison is valid. Rent is cheap here.
  25. I have always thought that rents here at lakeside are ridiculously low. In the USA and Canada an accepted rule of thumb is 01% of value of property for residential. A $100K house will rent for $1000 a month on a t least a year's lease. Here you can get a $1,000,000 house for $3500-$5000 a month not he $10K you would pay up north. At lake side you can rent a $160K house for under $900. That is quite low for the USA or Canada where the majority of came from. These are houses that any norteno would be at home in with all the amenities. San Francisco sees 1 bedrooms renting for $3025 Las Angeles sees 1 bedrooms going for close to $2000 Seattle has 1 bedrooms for $2158 NYC cost for 1 bedroom for $3607
