  1. The body bags were shipped by King county Wa. In what they said was a mistake. The funding for Federal Indian Health Board for the covid pandemic was passed by the House of Reps but stalled for more than a month in some legal dispute. The Federal Gov started distributing Billions of dollars Tuesday to Native American Tribal government. Read more
  2. MEXICO CITY — Mexico has received a shipment of 211 medical ventilators from the United States as part of aid that U.S. President Donald Trump promised his Mexican counterpart. “We want to very fully thank the government of the United States, especially President Trump,” said Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard. “As the saying goes, when there are hard times is when you know who your friends are.” info here

  4. To keep the brakes from over heating, truckers every where are taught to use the engine to brake. A compression release brake, also commonly known as a “jake brake,” opens the exhaust valves at the top of the compression stroke, creating a loud noise similar to the firing of a gun. ... Engine braking is prohibited in some areas because of the loud noise it creates. So for the gringos complaining about the noise (noise existed when they bought near the hill) the truck incurs a higher risk of overheating it's brakes. As the brakes heat up they become less and less effective.
  5. Perhaps it is not greed but a owner who paid for the house in dollars and has done his calculations on what it will take to pay Gardener, Hacienda taxes, water, CFE, internet, telephone and still make a 7% return on his investment. Maybe he even calculates his exit strategy and has to apportion that immense chunk of the sale price that the taxman here will take when he sells. Most of the homes that have locations and amenities that would attract a norteno tennant will be sold in dollars, therefore rented in USD. Remember that tax is a percent of the sale price not the profit. Even priced in USD it will be difficult to come out ahead as a landlord. Remember that rents here are quite cheap on a world market. Rents are typically 0.8 to 1.1% of value a month in north America. A house appraised at $250,000 would rent for $2000 to $2750 monthly. I suppose in the future you will be able to complain about houses priced and paid in Bit Coin.
  6. U.S. Citizens Missing Out On Stimulus Checks Based On Spouse's Immigration Status https://newyork.cbslocal.com/video/4527308-u-s-citizens-missing-out-on-stimulus-checks-based-on-spouses-immigration-status/
  7. It was news when the US refiners started selling their own US branded gasoline that they intended to build refineries in Mexico. I believe they are buying refined gasoline from Pemex at this time. At Texas prices they could afford to truck down their refined product and sell it here. I don't really think Pemex can compete with the world's publicly traded oil companies as they willingly tolerate too much shrinkage. I think a foreign refiner here would not do so. That said prices like we are seeing do not fund any refinery expansion.
  8. Just sign it on the back and I will pick it up and return it for you. Guiness wants to stop reading so much about the USA and goings on there. So perhaps someone will tell us if they got their check from Canada and how much it is for?
  9. When they sent checks out in 2008 it took 2 months (8 weeks) before the first checks went out. I haven't gotten one yet and am not surprised. everything happens slower in the swamp.
  10. Not anytime soon. It took two months to start distributing the stimulus checks in 2008. Why should it be different now?
  11. There is of course an annual renewal fee. You may not be able to get said permit as if everyone is allowed the equal right to park in front their house then you get your situation.
  12. I have to wonder if this situation existed when you bought or rented the house.
  13. Last time I tried I had to use my Mexican credit card as it never accepted the US cards. This is the last of the regularly need to pay accounts that won't accept a US credit card. I will be happy when I can pay Hacienda taxes online. My experience is that companies are better off paying the 3% to use credit cards as it cuts down on the theft by employees. CFE has already had big problems with employees pocketing the payments several years ago. They weren't worried as all the employees were family. For a while there was no paying inside only to the machine.
  14. I have bought Scotch and Bubbly white wine and vitamins a half dozen times with no problem with my US credit cards, It is worth using Cards for gasoline as well if you have the Citi card with 4% back which can be 15¢ to 20¢ a gallon back at year end. Never been asked for voter ID as I don't have one.
  15. A friend from Tlaquepaque emailed today to say the lines were around the block going into a local bank. The rumor among the Tlaquepaque locals according to his Mexican spouse is that the banks are going to be closed 3 days during the week. May not be accurate or accurate here but it is better to be prepared than surprised.
  16. What is racist about it? What a steaming pile to hide behind! The reason I posted this post was to advise those who normally drive that route to the USA to be extra cautious. My post are only there to help those who need information, what was yours there for? So far most cases had a China connection. The Chinese have a large presence in the Montclova area. I guess you knew that because you travel that route regularly?
  17. I have been at the Fiesta Hotel when sprinter buses pick up groups of 12-20 of 25-35 year old male Asians to take them to what sounded like a tour or class. The groups were met and managed by a what appeared to be a Mexican national interpreter. They probably weren't going to visit cousins.
  18. Why would your statement be useful information to anyone who checks this board looking for accurate info? Your statement contributes NOTHING to the knowledge base. Other than indicating that you have inside information on the President's posterior. You will note I provide sources for my info!
  19. 26 infected with coronavirus at Mexico hospital; doctor dead in Montclova Montclova is a stopping point for nortenos heading up into Texas through Saltillo to Eagle Pass. It is a steel town with both iron ore and coal and steel furnaces. The reason for the cluster in Monclova is probably the large number if Asians we see at the hotel Fiesta Americana when we stop there who seem to be on business in the steel or coal sector. You might want to avoid this route if this is your usual stop over. Article Here
  20. Intelligence agencies say China lied and continues to lie about the number of fatalities. There is NO way we have any idea of how many have died there, so perhaps it's not President Trump who is fulla crap? article here
  21. These stats to have any validity must be calculated against population not known cases. Population is known but total number if cases us an unknown. You must use a per capita infection and death rate or you are just manipulating numbers.
  22. Last week at Hospital San Javier, Dr Jose Salas did angiogram on a friend and found that a stent would not help. So everything but the Stent ($2000 USD) cost under $7000 USD and went on a Visa Card. That was all hospital cost (cath lab and 1 night room) and the physician and his team. The hospital is relatively virus free with only 4 covid cases last week. 2 in ICU and 2 in isolation rooms. Every one wears a mask and temperature checked before entry. Most doctors have privileges at several hospitals. If you are going to do it do it before the big virus wave hits.
  23. No insurance. The price was lower than many posted here and certainly less than the $25K USD average. The cost of a stent adds $2600-2200 depending on whether plain metal or drug extruding. It was certainly higher than the one I had 21 years age.
