  1. Yeah, my lake Buchanan is down 12' and Travis is down 44' so it's a bit dry. It's so dry the mosquitos are buying bottled water to breed in?
  2. It's toasty in Texas also. I remember the good old days in Riberas when it only got to 90 once in a while. Up here I hit 114 the other day showing a heat index of 121. It's 80 when I get up in the morning. The high pressure dome is moving so it should drop into the 90's next week.
  3. I was in Acuna Coahuila today and it was mostly normal, bars/restaurants closed, but people out and around and no one asked me anything about why I was there or where I was going when I crossed.
  4. I'm late to the topic, but yes, we still fish etc up there in TX. I was by the Lake today and there were at least a dozen bass boat trailers in the launch parking area. Yesterday I was in Lowes, Home Depot and Autozone, they were glad to see me (or my money). Last week I saw a flight of pelicans spending a bit of time on the Lake before heading on N to Alberta. Life goes on. In my county which is 966 sq miles with 22K people we have 3 reported cases, we don't see the problem.
  5. RV nails this one, at our age, ALL the hours count. Who cares about sunny or cloudy?
  6. Yes, it's no longer a NOB thing, it's coming to your town. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/08/20/report-dnc-chair-tom-perez-to-fundraise-in-mexico/
  7. That has got to be the dumbest scam I've seen in years, absolutely NO WAY it will ever do that, it goes in the museum with the X-Ray glasses when we were kids etc.
  8. Nope, June 12th, just like always. I know because that's when we start to dry up?
  9. Well? - attempting to sort out your dissociated comments, bringing Canada in as an unrelated country to this subject, I will tell you that all the touchy feely emotions are rendered irrelevant because the US, America (if you will), is a country and society of laws, and the plain, unabashed fact undisputed by any legal authority, is that crossing into the US illegally is a crime. All the smooze, touchy feely emotions etc is a mask to cover the reality of that fact that there is essentially an "invasion" of illegals into the US - which is increasing in an attempt to swamp, overcome if you will, the border security. NOTE: On a specific note, Frum was attached to the Bush administration - not really a proforma validation of Conservatism, maybe a member of the Republican establishment, but not Conservatism I can assure you. PS: Here's something most folks don't know, the legal immigration system in the US was mostly shut down from the mid 20's until the early 60's - for one simple reason, to allow assimilation of incoming non-Americans. I assume you live in MX, I lived there, let me assure you the current "crop of immigrants" has little or no interest in assimilating into the American culture. They are there, by their own admissions, to access a "better life" etc. In other words, they seek the easy life, the milk, the gold and are unwilling to follow the previous generations path that came to America to find those same things, but learned the language, that assimilated into the American culture and knew that doing so causes a rising tide that floats all boats including their children and prodigy.
  10. Often a divergent point of view allows a person to arrive at the truth, especially when those divergent views appear to come to the same conclusions. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/05/us/crossing-the-border-statistics.html Or https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/us-has-hit-breaking-point-at-border-amid-immigration-surge-customs-and-border-protection-commissioner-says/2019/03/27/d2014068-5093-11e9-af35-1fb9615010d7_story.html?utm_term=.3fdf18e5da00 I presume these sources are acceptable.
  11. None so blind as those who will not see, nor so deaf as those who will not hear. Often the truth is shocking.
  12. Maybe, or maybe not? https://www.breitbart.com/border/2019/04/30/video-111-central-american-migrants-cross-arizona-border/
  13. I didn't get the memo, what is the official age of Prune-juicers? I just rolled over 76 last week, do I qualify?
  14. Hi Pete,

Just a note to say thanks for all your support over the years, Max and I won't forget. Spencer and I tried, but he has a career and being a weather guy doesn't fit in. We'll run the station to the end of the month and then pull the plug one final time. It's sad, but all things begin and end.

    Thanks again,

    Steve and Max the WeatherCat

  15. Often NOB the hospitals etc. don't pay any attention to the DNR, I don't know about down there.
  16. I had a 4M volt stun gun and it was legal, when you hit the key it arched between the contacts making a very very loud snapping, crackling electrical arching noise, plus you see the arch and I would hope that would be enough to interrupt the event, if not you use it, shouldn't take more than once to make the point.
  17. In my case we had eight foot compound walls, so that didn't work out - although it didn't stop me from chucking fallen palm fronds over the wall into the vacant lot next door as is traditional locally - and to be fair, several of the palms were on the lot line so depending on the wind, most fell over there anyway, I just added to the collection.
  18. Here's a thought, if it's so annoying to you, why not offer to pay his gardener, or any gardener to sweep his property with a nice MXN broom - nice and slow, everyone wins, you have peace, his property is clean and you employ a person, what could be better?
  19. When I went looking for one a few years ago I had to go to Guad and at Home Depot the small one was at that time $820p, the same thing NOB is about $35. So, I bought NOB and imported it for my gardener. And, as far as neighbors not liking it? - nobody blows leaves at midnight unlike music until all hours and barking dogs with no "off" switch.
