  1. YAYYY!!! And happy for the students on the receiving end!!!
  2. All true. Add to that maybe driver was drunk.... maybe the car was stolen......maybe driver has no insurance and no way to pay..... maybe, maybe, maybe That's why paying for legal services on your insurance is a necessary expense. If YOU have done the killing of someone you might still go to jail, but in most other cases legal rep shows up and deals with police in order to avoid that.
  3. There is never a way to know. The guy who used to be the guard there (now retired) told me it depends on demand at all the machines that company services (Guad included), what they think will be needed and when, IF they actually perform as expected (he would sometimes tell me "xxx hours" and when I went back "not yet.......much later"......) Those delays were not under anyone's control out here altho' I think he had a little more info since he was the one there with the big gun! (they are safe, they wear face masks..☺️) WHAT has that got to do with this post?????
  4. There's a product sold in many ferreterias called "Plagas-Sin"..... 1 L. whitish spray bottle with red sprayer top. Label says it kills cockroaches, crickets, ants, Black Widow spiders, bedbugs, fleas, ticks, etc. I can absolutely say it kills those pesky little ants in the house instantly. I identify where they're coming from (always from behind light plugs/switches or else in spaces in mortar between bricks ). It sets from wide spray to direct stream. I aim direct stream right at source from a short distance (according to label). Dead ants everywhere!! It's a synthetic pyrethroid (not to be confused with permethrin) and is a lot safer to use. Still need precautions listed on label, but much more environmentally friendly than Cynoff.
  5. CiBanco does not own that ATM. A Guad company does, and it's up to them to do the refilling, servicing when down, etc.
  6. Cynoff and Home Defense are TERRIBLE for the environment, especially for bees (disappearing all too fast without our "help") and fish (when you wash sprayers etc. and it goes down your drains to the lake). It is also, as are all permethrin and cypermethrinin compounds, deadly for cats. If they get it on their paws(when wet or damp) and lick them to clean, it is highly likely they will die or at least be seriously ill.
  7. Yes it's confirmed by phone call..... spoken for and aimed at a worthy project HOPE SJC can work a miracle. Thanks to all.
  8. Spoken for!! And if fixable.... will go to deserving Mexicans. YAY!!!!!
  9. NICE when the power of this board results in something positive instead of ending up in a tangled mess. Second that YAY!!
  10. In the interest of all moving along, have copied/slightly altered this from last night's post in case someone interested misses same. To those who think it might be repairable...Ferret, Curmudgeon, Mainecoons, and Johanson and anyone else who wants to leap into the fray.... and knowing I'm certainly not infallible, especially with anything remotely tech-related: (my tech knowledge could fit in a thimble and still have room for a cup of tea πŸ˜‰) Have I got a deal for you! Come and get it (bring something to wrap it in) along with manual and remote (batteries included). Goes to first one in the door. Take it to SJC. IF the guy thinks he can repair it...... (1) pay the piper and get yourself a "free" 55 inch flat screen Smart TV (2) same as # 1 but be a hero and donate it to a person/family/ ?? of your choice (3) tell the guy to go ahead and fix in on HIS dime, and then HE can either keep it for himself/family or give it away to a needy person/family (SJC certainly not lacking in that category). Hoping somebody can come out a winner in this.🀞 Just don't ever bring it back 🀣 376 766 3580 to arrange (phone has answering machine)
  11. OK... enough already!! 12. YES!!! Thank you Ferret.... and I think AP is talking about the same place. Sending a note to my friend ASAP and they'll be able to manage that one....the angle up into the shop might be difficult, but with assistant and wheelchair he can do it (for the fitting) First trip he can stay in the car. Agree with you on Dr. Pinto too. 😠
  13. Juts to be clear for all.... you must accept the first thing offered... which is the cost they are charging for your use of that ATM. It's the second one you must reject... where they actually you figures re: what their conversion rate will be. Usually "decline" button is on the bottom left
  14. Guess I'm speaking incorrectly. I do NOT misunderstand. What you're describing is exactly what I'm seeking! A LOCAL location for him to attend. Where the glasses are actually made don't matter a whit! So.... tell me about this shop on the sideroad near Telmex in Ajijic.... it might work for him. Also the one in Chapala on the main drag.... because I have no idea what/where you're referring to. Gracias.
  15. Not the point. His extreme disability is. Trips to Guad are harrowing and difficult for him, so if he can order them (already has nearly new frames) and have them correctly fitted locally, his life would be very much easier.
  16. I wouldn't' have sent him there anyway as the last pair Dr. Pinto made for ME had the lenses reversed.... and they REALLY argued with me until I made him check them on his machine....even tho' he was the one who did the eye exam and wrote the Rx.! Hoping for an Ajijic location as long as one can drive to the door.
  17. Thankyou, but in this case 2 knowledgeable techie friends talked me thru' some diagnostics and concluded the video "chip" (whatever) is fried. Dead forever. Bought a new one on MercadoLibre today.... excellent price as one-day-special. (Better than Amazon.mx)
  18. A friend is seeking someone local who can make glasses with one lens needing a slight prism. He has the (Guad) ophthalmologist's prescription but prefers to do locally if possible do to being extremely disabled. No steps as he's in a wheelchair and can't manage even 2 or 3 stairs. Thanks in advance. (I know there's info here somewhere but can't find it. Sorry.)
  19. Sneaky AND deceitful!!! By the way MostlyLost talks about Visa card with 1% exchange rate. Not in MY world!!! lucky to get 3.25%. Get in the habit of checking www.oanda.com for current spot as well as 1-2-3-4% rates going both ways.... to or from pesos.... to have a better idea what you can expect at the machine.
  20. Thanks. Of course Canadian dollar is at a new low this a.m............ things just get better and better.....
  21. Thankyou AP but this one came from WM and turns out to be a tier 3 brand. (What difference did I know?---- nada, that's what --- but I do now 😬). Also the next (smaller) TV purchase from them which I REALLY messed has no "change language" option. So will go to ML and pay a little more for tier one product.
  22. Gracias. Yes it appears the video card is fried. GGRRRRR ML also has some..... now a question of $$ vs getting a better quality unit . I guess that's why the old sayinggfoes " it's made round to go (a)round"...........
  23. Already checked all connections. I don't have wires either. I so appreciate the comments ladies. Will see what my friend Apha1 sent..... but already checking out ML and Amazon πŸ˜’
  24. Really.... they have THREE inspection points open and they're going to swoop down on any unverified vehicle in the entire state? Thinking I can wait a while.....πŸ˜‰
  25. Hi electronics fiends. Yesterday picture went out while watching (local cable). Turned off. Turned back on. Picture struggled for a moment and then came back. This morning sound works, channel change works, but black screen. Changed batteries. Nada Can't try Firestick because can't "see" to change to HDMI. Large flat screen (4K Ultra HD LED , 6 1/2 years old, only a few hours per day. Yes I know it's a cheap Walmart brand but was price the purse could pay at the time. Is there such a thing as TV repairman these days for this? Or is it dead in the water? Thanks in advance.
