My mistake was that I did not call them to cancel them when the oximeter wetnt off..  When your souse is dying in front of you , you cannot think of everything, you ll see if it happens to your spouse,,,

I do not think you understand the problem. The driver from Cruz Roja , when my husband was pronounced dead by the ambulance medic, sneaked out back to the ambulance to call the police. I have been here for more than 20 years, I speak fluent Spanish and I know better than call the police but the ambulance driver, called them and left the door open ao they came in uninvited..

I did not see the driver leave and the next thing I new 5 cops where in the bedroom, they had to cross the whole house to get there...nasty as could be. Thank God my neighbor who was a cdmx cop was with me and his wife otherwise I would have been in real trouble.

The ambulances have to follow the law and all they had to say.was excuse me now I have to call the police . I have a lawyer friend who told me what happens between emplyyes and police. WHen I went to complain the next day , Cruz Roja was crawling with cops haveing nice conversation with the cruz roja emploees, they are bodies ..I saw it with my own eyes.

You are reading the nice literature on how to  and if you think that it is what happens at one on clock in the morning you have a lot to learn about life here. If you are lucky and you can contact your doctor immediately or if the San Antonio hospital tells the ambulance to come right over and declare your husband or wife dead on arrival you are lucky but if you have a doctor that cannot sign the death certificate because the office is out or does not open until 8 in the morning you are in for a whole lot of fun

After the funeral home took my husband they harrassed the funeral home until morning.

Your post on how do things is very misleading and does not represent what can happen in real life. If you are lucky it will happen that way but after speaking with several family who went through it and the funeral homes I can tell you there is plenty of room for improvemtn ,

  2. Many Mexicans complain about the cohetes but the church is powerful and they continue. They cut back  because of the money not because of compalints.. In the other town where I l also live, the weather is cold and the cohetes fall on my rood and breajk the roof tiles. Every year I have to pay for fixing the roof. I am seriously thnking of asking the church to payy for it.. but I do not think that will go very far. I will be told to leave town if I do not like it.. That is the way it is.

  3. yes I do want to have an app I can use remotly. I am planning to give access to my neighbor and give him a camera so he can moniter the 2 properties when I am not in town .I will have the app. too.. SOunds like there are lots of options and good ones.. Thank you all I am going to check everything and see what works for me.

John my house is in CHiapas so I do not need a tec here.but thanks anyways.

  4. Be aware that Cruz ROja as well as all ambulances will call the police in case the patient is dead when they arrive. WHat cruz ROja did to me was inexcusable.. my husband passed away as they were on tehir way and the driver sneaked out of the room to go and call the police.  He did not have the courtesy to let me know he was going to do it. My gate was open for a quick entry and exit  and the driver did not warn me to close the gate and let the police in without my permission. It is a violation from the part of the police to enter a home uninvited..

I found my self surrounded by 5 cops at 1 in the morning and what followed was so traumatic that  8 months later I still have loss of memory from what happened that night.

I will never give to Cruz Roja  for the rest of my life and will use other services a

  5. Interesting answers from everyone, showing thateveryone has differnt restions so you just do not know how your body will react one way or the other and the relief will be very temporary to quite long but in all cases it is just something that you cannot do for long term relief. Of course when you are inpain relief even for a short time is wonderful. Good luck to you.

  6. What kind of wrought iron work are you looking for?

The traditional wrought iron done on the forge with hammer is just about gone. The National School of Ceramic was looking for someone who could do vry fine traditional old wrought iron work to do tops of large jars and they asked me to kook for someone in this area because their herrero  in Tapalpa who was doing a very fine job decided to do balconeria which is  is the work you see everywhere on protection bats gates doors etc.. because there is more money in it. I am friends with the 2 families in CHiapas who are left doing that kind of traditional work and cound that ther is no one in this area that does the old fashion type of work any longer.. There are many men doing a fine job but no one doing the hand hammered work any longer.

I had some furniture at one time done the traditional way  in Tlaquepaque but that was expensive and many years ago.

I live near the 6 esquinas and know several people but they are almost impossible to get because the good ones who are reasonable have a long list of work to do for architects and develipers. I had to battle with 3 people in the neighborhood to come to me house and one recommended 2 others because he just was too busy.. I ended up having the work done by one man o Ocampo and another one in the 6 esquinas and anotehr one  on Rio Bravo who did not do a good job.. I could not give yo names as my gardener knows where tthey live and goes and gets them.

WHo is the one west of Blue Rose ?? West of there is the LaHuerta Center and there is no Herrero there,. There is one on Rio zula on the left before getting on Ocampo but who else is in the area? WOuld love to know as I am forever chasing down good herreros..

I live in Chapala and have never heard anybody call it 4 corners, that is confusing.  Its just the light or intersection at Hidalgo that takes you to Ajijic.  We like to keep it simple.  Almost at every intersection in centro Chapala has 4 corners.

All simple intersections have 4 corners and I have never heard of a 4 corner intersection either.

  8. Thank you for the information, I am about to embark on  a new adventure and live in a community awaa tinaco higher upy from it all  including internet and phones to learn a new language and I know the conditions are very primitive. Will this work when connected to a hose fed by gravity from the mountain?

  9. Everyone is differnt , obviously I- When  you are hurting very badly 2 or 3 weeks without pain is wonderful  but I forgot how much it was but it was not cheap so it is also a question of how much are you willing to pay or how much can you pay for some time  without pain.  the doctor said that having it done gives the doctor some idea of how much they have to clip when they do the surgery if you go to the same doctor.

For me it was worth it and after the pain came back it also has been diminishing a bit after two years-

Now I pretty much have chronic off and on pain from the sciatic nerve.

The doctor in Mexico is recommending surgery, which scares me.. I did therapy , massages , exercises etc..

I am going to Paris i in a few month and I am going t take my MRI and ask a well known doctor who treated my brother for his opinion. This is what he told my brother about surgery,

Do not get surgery intil you are almost paralysed.

The surgery improves your pain in 3 out of 5 cases  and does nothing or gets worth in 2 out of 5 cases.

The problem in the case of the pain after surgery is that is cannot be improved.

Usually after a certain time the hernia will reduce in size and the pain can lessen of course it also means that another hernia can be formed, it all depends on your body.

In France we have social medecine so the doctors tend not to want to operate. They also do not do the microscopic surgery because it is more expensive, needs special equipment that cost more money and is not always available.

In Mexico in private practic the tendency is to want to operate and get the money..

It  is  all to be considered.

A doctor who is not a surgeon or a trauma doctor in Mexico told me she knew 5 patients of hers who had it done. Out of the 5   3 are pain free one is a little better and the fifth says she is worth. The same doctor says that the woman who says is worth does not need more pain medecine and is also pretty fat and out of shape..

This too e pretty much confirms what the doctors are saying in France.. As an orthopidic surgeon told me , there is no waranty.. I asked him what happens if the surgeon screws up, can you get paralysed. He said no, but you will drag a foot.

I will see what the French docotr says in my case.. but I  have been in pain over the last 2 years , I went to 2 therapists to try aliviete the pain via massage and exercise.. then I quit the therapist and got the cortisone shot and 1  year late I am still in pain but less pain..

Good luck to those who are in pain,

I have a cleaning service. Every other week. They bring their cleaning products so Don don’t need to but that. If interested I will post it on you their information. Have had the service for about 2-3 years. Don’t need to pay holiday or aquanaldo or vacation since it is a service and not employees.

do not worry it is including in the price but it is good to know you do not have to worry about it, I agree.

  11. lets not panick.. there are aljibes and tinacos and pools and friends and neighbors and water bottles. with a little planning it is not the end of the world. In another part of Mexico we can go a month or two without water. The water from the truck is contaminated, the little water there is go the center for the tourist and people living on a hill like I do do not get water. We get water delivery at night 2days sometimes 3 days a week the pression is so low that is does not go up in tinaco.. This is the real Mexico or another face of Mexico. Do not complain get buckets and bottle water and sit tight , this too will pass..

In San Cristobal de las Caas to add salt to the wound the cocacola plant is hoaerding water and using a huge amount..

  12. Ajijic has grown a lot, 20years ago when we came in we had to go and shop at SuperLake if we wanted anything  imported .. now I may go there once every three months if that much and only to buy one item, I need, there are lots of other options besides Pancho and SL and closer to where I live.

Walmart is an annoyance but good to have for basics and others..  It is amazing how much more product we have access to, now and how much less I need...

  13. you did not say when you are going but if you are there on the 12th of December be sure to go and see the Danza de la Pluma in Teotitlan.. It atarts around noon on the plaza in front of the church and ends for the general public around 10 at night then they continue dancing until dawn in one of the homes of the danzantes. They are 22 danzantes and it is something to see. If you visit Teotitlan the town where mosts wool rugs are made  you are close to Mitla  where you can see the ruins . There are also many other villages around to visit.

They also have 2 candle makers that are worth a visit and some nice food. The local food is excellent so plan on having the comida there if you are goig to visit.

The church was built on top of an old zapotec temple and the whole center of town is an ancient village. Every time people remodel in the center they end up finding tombs and old carving which they place on the walls of the church ...

  14. THe city center deserves a few days.. then you have to decide if you want to take colectivos or tours to the surrounding villages to see the artesaania or visit the mezcal producers or take the route of the dominican convents etc.. There is a zillion thing to do in Oaxaca and the surrouning.. You also have a string of indigenous villages that have built cabins in the woods where you can stay and comute wit nature ,, they are called the malcomunados villages..  You can go in the sierra and visit the villege that grows silk worms and procuces beautiful woven items in silk and on and on.. It all depends on your interest and what you want to do.

We have to pay for every person we employ in France.. Th e pay is prorated according to the number of hours you employ that person. SS also includes pension and sick leave.. It will be interesting to see how it is enforced and what each employer will have to do. If it is too much trouble it may backfire and some people may lose thieir job.

In France it is enforced and the system is simple and expensive.. it will be interesting to see how and if it is enforced here.

There are plenty of people working full time who are not getiing paid ss... Imagine all tHe vendors at he tianguis and on the street who hae relatives  selling for them  part time and full time. None of them are getting IMSS..  I also know that the government fines the employers if this is found out but I would imagine that it is rarely discovered if no one complains.
