  2. I am Canadian, if I'm in Newfoundland I'm a Mainlander. If in the Yukon or NWT I'm an Outsider If I'm in Western Canada I'm an Easterner. All of you chime-in on the many others. It really is all about context & perspective.

As for canoes, the saying goes that only Canadians can make love in a canoe, or maybe silly enough to try, never mind the resulting pain & agony. As pointed out Off Topic!

  3. We arrived safely at the Mexican border without our Retorno Seguro (Safe Return) letter. As Sonia warned, the waiting time can stretch beyond the 15 days.

In our case, the application was couriered to Mexico City March 12th, we departed April 21st, some 6 weeks later which included time for Semana Santa. We had included a request for our preferred dates, any time between the April 18th - 22nd to arrive back in Canada before 183 days away. We departed with full copies of our application & proof of a courier submission.

On arrival at Nuevo Laredo they iInspected our Permit & pushed us on to the border, we had the foresight to question where our TIP would be removed, so were directed back to the same individual who had pushed us through. Backing up in this type of line up is not done without help! It never hurts to ask a simple question.

Our thanks to Sonia, and the helpful traffic attendant at the border! All was much appreciated!

  4. Sonia, sorry but unable to locate the application on the 92page link you provided? The 1st page has a vertical right side margin for additional documents, is this where I should be looking? If so which one? None appear to have a title that matches: Solicitud de autorizacion para el retorno de vehiculos extranjeros con permiso de importacion temporal de vehicles vencidos.

  6. Aside from the debris in the wells, any opening, any leaks in the water mains will suck sand & dirt back into the lines once the pumps are turned off. On a restart the next day all this debris gets into your storage tank. Hence we residents try & report to Simapa? The fix usually takes far longer than necessary. In my experience weeks, I send maps pictures & a translated notice. You really need a good primary filter before the storage tank which is not always easy or cost effective as filters are expensive. We have a Zeolite filter on auto backwash between the Aljibie & the UV purifier then a charcoal smell & taste filter. 2 years now & all seems to be working well.

  7. My application for a permanent visa was not accepted today at the Embassy of Mexico in Canada. I was prepared with all documentation: Passport, Visa Residente Temporal, Application, Financials & Photographs. I was politely & surprisingly informed that if my existing visa had not yet expired, that my application was only acceptable in Mexico. No other explanation was offered.

Over the course of the last 4 weeks I have spoken on 4 occasions on the telephone with Immigration Services within the Embassy of Mexico in Ottawa, Canada.

In each conversation, I related that I held a Visa Residente Temporal, that due to the very long & unpredictable wait times with-in our part of Mexico for a Visa Residente Permenante, that I wished to make application from Canada with my 12 months Financial Statements as a retiree. At no point in any conversation was I informed that my application could not proceed.
