  1. I have had some minor work done at Costura Expres at 123 Colon in SAT. Below is a link to a map of their location. If you click on the street view, you can get a closeup of their sign that includes a phone number. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Colón+123,+San+Antonio+Tlayacapan,+45900+Ajijic,+Jal./@20.2959485,-103.2430284,17z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x842f413589f9ea9f:0xa885df6c6235010b!2sColón+123,+San+Antonio+Tlayacapan,+45900+Ajijic,+Jal.!3b1!8m2!3d20.2959209!4d-103.2431505!3m4!1s0x842f413589f9ea9f:0xa885df6c6235010b!8m2!3d20.2959209!4d-103.2431505

  3. I have gotten good information and help from the Telmex 800 number in the past. This time, I needed to re-activate an account that was in arrears. I called and got a good English speaker and asked him if I pay the bill at OXXO, would the account automatically be activated. He was not sure and offered to connect me with the billing department, but doubted that an English speaker would be available. I thanked him for his help and told him that I would pay it and see what happened. I paid the bill and waited until the next day to see what happened. Nothing changed, so I entered 331 520 9621 into my contacts on my cell phone. When I went to WhatsApp I was pleased to see that it was available to send text messages. I sent a photo of the paid bill and a brief description of the problem. About an hour later, I received a reply in English asking for more information. I sent the information as requested and about an hour later I received a reply telling me that the account had been activated and that I would be able to use the phone and internet in 3-4 hours. In about 3 hours, the internet and phone were working.
  4. Thanks. artsnob. Trying to minimize the worry. Did you receive your new passport the same day as your first appointment or did you have to return for it? Is it a standard passport or is it a modified "emergency" one? Any information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
  5. My passport expires before my flight to the US in mid-October. After I made the reservations, I sent an email to the consulate for information and they replied that I should send another email requesting an appointment two weeks before my flight. I have the photos and the forms that I need, but have no idea what to expect when the time comes to email the renewal request. Would like to hear from some folks that have first hand experience recently renewing their US passport. Thank you.

  7. Thanks, everybody. These flowers are unusual and pretty and I did not recognize them as dahlias. Now I know.
  8. Different specimens with different colored flowers of the same plant . The first photo shows the long brown flower stem with an out of focus flower and the leaf structure. The second photo is another specimen with a different colored flower. There's also one with an all white flower. Google image search was no help.
  9. Ismat's is closed. The steel door is down, the sign is gone and there's a se vende sign in its place.
  10. USTVnow does not offer a free option as of a couple of weeks ago. The best that you can get without paying is a ten day trial. They blamed the change on the pandemic.
  11. OP is referring to Black Vultures. You can compare them with Crested Caracaras on the attached links. It is a common sight to see Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures congregating together in the eucalyptus trees in lower La Floresta. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Black_Vulture/id https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Crested_Caracara/id
  12. Here is a link to the Lake Chapala Birders website. Click on newsletters for lots of information and galleries for some nice photos. They will be happy to add you to their once a month mailing list. https://chapalabirders.org/

  14. His name is Joel Galliano, from Galliano, LA. It is south of New Orleans on Bayou Lafourche near the Gulf of Mexico. He has been a chef in New Orleans, Mexico and other places. He is an inventive and talented cook. His new place is worth a try. I enjoyed the food and will go back.

  17. The Santiago River flows from Lake Chapala to the Pacific Ocean. "The Grande de Santiago River (Spanish: Río Grande de Santiago)[3] is one of the longest rivers in Mexico, measuring up 433 km (269 mi) long. The river begins at Lake Chapala and continues roughly north-west through the Sierra Madre Occidental, receiving the Verde, Juchipila, Bolaños, and other tributaries. At La Yesca, the La Yesca Dam was completed in 2012 and the El Cajón Dam was completed downstream in 2007. Below El Cajón, the Aguamilpa Dam was completed in 1993, creating a reservoir covering a large part of the territory of the municipality of El Nayar in Nayarit. From Aguamilpa, the river descends to the coastal lowlands, passing by Santiago Ixcuintla and empties into the Pacific Ocean, 16 km (10 mi) northwest of San Blas, in Nayarit. The river is viewed by some sources as a continuation of the Lerma River, which flows into Lake Chapala." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grande_de_Santiago_River

  22. The Ajijic Fishing Club will meet on Monday, December 2 at 9:00 am. The location is Fonda Dona Lola. They meet on the first Monday of each month. There is bass fishing at multiple lakes within a half day's drive from Ajijic and Lake Chapala has bass, too. The fishing club is gauging interest in a peacock bass trip to the Amazon or Panama or both. Here is a link to their website. There is a link to the club's Facebook page on the website. https://drhook50hp.wixsite.com/ajijicfishingclub

  24. Thank you for your suggestion. The opening is to a stairway. Maybe I could use a dowel or more hangers to stabilize the connection of the bamboo headers. Any other suggestions?
