  1. Re The Ranch, another option would be to donate the funds directly to them as dog food is purchased in large volumes and delivered by truck directly to The Ranch ….so your donation would go farther
  2. You might check with Bone Voyage…they’ve had occasions where they unexpectedly (flight delays/cancellations) needed to board dogs in transit from Lakeside to NOB
  3. This requirement applies to concerts only? Not required to just enter the property for other reasons (dining, visit etc)?
  4. a warning ..My first experience there.. convenient to my house so I wanted to give them a try. Took my two small poodle type dogs there today for grooming at 1pm and was told they’d be ready in about 2 hrs. After several calls where I was told they were not yet ready I was finally able to pick them up at 6:45pm. The haircuts were ridiculous- not a major deal , it’s only hair after all and will grow back. My real issue is that the groomer had decided to tranquilize one of my dogs for the process — without even notifying me or getting my permission. I didn’t know until I went to pick them up. I had to carry him all the way home as he could not move or stand. He was able to stand finally around 8pm. not only did they tranquilize him without my permission, I believe that he was over sedated and that’s why they kept pushing back the pick up time and telling me they weren’t yet ready. FYI he’s on the nervous side so I’ve no doubt he wasn’t happy about getting groomed; however he’s been groomed before somewhere else and no problems. The vet was not on site at pickup , only the groomer, but I plan on going there tomorrow to speak with him
  5. And imagine the fun and thrills trying to enter/exit onto the carretera from there!
  6. A friend who knows her work is interested in commissioning an art piece. Or maybe someone knows a local shop that sells her work? Ms Nery lives I believe in Chapala
  7. I’d like schedule a visit to this winery with some friends….Anyone have contact information? I tried FB and Google with no luck
  8. Looking for recommendation and current contact information for mobile dog grooming services
  9. Home recommendations are most welcome… however well-intended general commentary on the topic and judgements are simply not helpful at this point
  10. Thank you I spoke with Happiness Care (Riberas) today. They are full with a waiting list — and charge a basic rate of $40,000p/month ( excludes medications and adult diapers) . my friend has only US Social Security income - approx 25,000p month so that is far beyond the budget.
  11. Looking for suggestions /personal experience for a care home for a friend with rapidly progressing dementia and no family. (Residente Permanente status) . Individual has a very Limited budget ..U.S. Social Security income only . No very serious medical conditions at this point but needs 24/7 oversight
  12. Yes you can go back to the lab at Soriano for a paper copy if you wish…airline will accept paper or smartphone (I take both with me -just in case)
  13. Frankly Anywhere from $400 US to $2,000+US ......you’d really need to define a lot further what you’re looking for #1 what do you think of as a ‘decent area’ ....and what are ‘amenities’ to you (swimming pool? On-site workout area?walkable to gringo grocery store? .close to bus stop............) then # of bedrooms/baths; furnished or unfurnished, in a gated community or not; parking desired (off street, garage, carport ...); in-village (and which village) or farther from the center; yard or no yard; purified water system or not required; US-style kitchen and baths or not necessary etc etc
  14. For anyone interested in Mexican history , along with the history of Mexican passenger trains (for many decades the only way to travel), I highly recommend this amazing book ....if you can find it “Yesterday’s Train - A Rail Odyssey Through Mexican History “ , Terry Pindell , 1997. A review https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/687641.Yesterday_s_Train
  15. I like ‘ Chapala Health Talk ‘on FB for current, accurate, comprehensive & neutral local Covid-related info as soon as it is available and confirmed. I appreciate that some people are reluctant to use FB —and I appreciate the reasons- but like it or not that’s largely how & where the information you’re looking for is communicated to the general public
  16. I’d also suggest printing out the rules you find on the airline website and bringing the printout with you when you go to the airport....it may come in handy should you encounter a rep at check-in who has a different understanding......it happens
  17. Keep in mind any airline might have different requirements...
  18. Went this morning and to my great surprise the bagels are like the real NYC bagels I’m used to - well, very incredibly close at least- and the (warm!) walnut raisin bread loaf is to die for. Very pleasant place , pleasant staff
  19. Went Tuesday Dec 1st to Lydia’s , medical office 1 door east of Vinos America on the carretera in Ajijic. ,$750 for #4 flu shot you must get on the list a pay deposit
  20. FYI, anyone can send mail to the US via Ishop - for a small charge. You don’t need to buy a box
  21. My 7 year old dog has been diagnosed with Addison’s disease. Can anyone speak to their own experience with treatment for their dog locally for this ?
  22. My personal experience . Flew recently to US east coast and most pleasant trip since before 9/11 . Airports super clean and quiet and calm. no crowds/no rushing, no lines anywhere, super easy immigration experience . Everyone — 100% - masked , social distancing observed and everyone super chill. I fly a few times/year ...If only it was always like this
  23. Mostlylost....so when my friend pays the typical $200p for my Telcel Amigos Sin Limites plan she could also request / pay another 50mx for 30 days of North America coverage? that and connecting to a WIFI network as much as possible and using Roam only when I can’t connect, I should find my pesos going a good deal farther than 12 days?
  24. If you’re one of those folks who regularly use your IPhone both Lakeside and the US I hope you can help as sadly I’m very unsavvy about smart phone technology and lingo. I have an iPhone 7 and Lakeside I buy Tercel’s ‘amigo plan sin limites’ plan, 200p for 28 days.— all good. Im in the US and arranged for a friend to pay my Telcel for me while I’m away. But I’m obviously doing something wrong . With phone Set to WIFI , nothing works. With phone setting set to ‘cellular data’ ON all is good (phone calls, texts, emails internet) but the 200p paid lakeside lasts only for about 12 days. Is it the Sin Limites plan I’m buying Lakeside? How I’m setting my phone? (Strangely when the Telcel rep called the ‘main office’ they said I’d need to go to a Telcel office here in the US ....but as far as I can determine Telcel doesn’t exist here in the US so ....) Thank you for any advice you can give me — as simply put as possible
