As in all things....be careful what you ask for.......Ontario Hydro crews come around "proactively" and cut tree limbs and branches near the lines.....however in most streetscapes, the poor trees look like a giant version of a straight cut hedge when they are done. Normal limbs, branches and leaves on the house side.....bare and stripped on the street side. "Muy feo"....it is done for function, not aesthetics, that's for sure, and takes several years to start to look normal again.

Here is a graph of some of them on March 1 earlier this week from a solar monitoring system......cropped for client privacy....has been going on a lot in that area and appears to be broadening geographically from the comments here. Will go into our master account and check this further from users in other neighbourhoods.

I'd say little looks right about this, actually. 1 - what are the meter readings / consumption in kWh? 2 - what is the tarifa code? Residential is 01 or DAC. If you're being billed monthly, it may be on a commercial tariff such as 02 or other.

I would agree with this, we've seen it numerous times. My reco would be to find the issue and get it corrected, possibly by a very good private electrician but be sure there is no evidence of tampering. If solar is planned, then do it right after that.

The intent of a vaccine is to prevent a disease, yes, of course that is the goal. The function of a vaccine is to stimulate an immune response in the body. We are not all equal, it is not a digital 1 or 0 thing, more like snowflakes in that literally every person can have a different type and amount of response. Nothing wrong or different about that from any vaccine. And all the vaccines approved to date (and several that are about to be) all have been shown to do the job, very well. That is the bottom line.

To build on that.... 1 - unlike Texas, Mexico residential rates go UP with amount of use. So higher users are encouraged to conserve, not waste, be energy efficient, and / or produce their own power. And 1 national energy utility and regulator......not hundreds. 2 - Not to rub it in....but lakeside has an even BETTER climate than Texas......! 😉

Here's the community water pumping solar system / aljibe and "patio" covering at Laguna Vista. 6.4 kW size system producing about 32 kWh per day, on a year round average basis. It's nice when solar can be integrated into coverings of carports, patios, pool decks, miradors, and balconies, both for space and aesthetics. I think we'll see much more of that going forward, including in solar carports with an integrated vehicle charging station, either grid-tied or self-contained with energy storage.

Neat system, they've been showing this for quite awhile now. Not cheap.....and a bit complex.....my personal view is: 1 - better without the motors, controls, trackers, etc and expense thereof 2 - this would get abused on the ground..... and who'd want it on their roof....??? 3 - solar buildings with PV technology integrated right into the walls and windows (and roof) should be awesome...."invisible" and with a "solar building" wrap, many would produce enough to be net zero or better, too. Tesla STILL isn't there yet with his solar shingles, the concepts look good but while he can put satellites and global internet access in space, he apparently can't do a mass solar shingle roof yet. "Sigh"...... 🙂 However, we can now get a 2 kW system, today, at lakeside, from 4 panels and 1 micro-inverter, to produce about 10 kWh per day, and pay back in under 3 years for those on the DAC rate. So, ...there's that! 😉

Further to this, are portable / box size "solar generators" that can charge from either AC or panels, on a plug-in basis, and then you can choose what to plug into them during an outage. Plus take them camping, etc. There's a range of them size and quality wise, and we are strongly considering several models to have available at very good pricing in the near future.

This can now be done in a basic way as you suggest Rick, for not much more than a grid tied "regular" solar system. There are both hybrid inverters and also even simpler, inverter-chargers that can work to charge batteries from either AC or the panels, then use the battery power through the inverter when needed to feed the whole house loads. Sizing and type of the inverter unit, in terms of wattage, in terms of 120 or 220 V, and whether it feeds the grid or not are all factors in cost. Then on the battery side, whether one chooses AGM (sealed lead acid) or li-ion, and how much capacity. AGM are fine for occasional backup needs, and less $$ upfront. However, the deep depth of discharge and very long lifespan of li-ion actually make them equal or less costly in the long run and a pleasure to own and use.
