  1. I got one in Phoenix in March when I went up there to get the J&J vaccine. Thank you anyway.
  2. Does anyone use that device? Can it play US music? I want to bring one when I return to Ajijic from the US.
  3. I just discovered that the shop next to the Sunrise Restaurant is gone. Have they moved? Is there another shop inn the Lakeside?
  4. As far as I know, it does have a thermostat. The flame is out of adjustment, does not change size and the oven temp is 48 C no matter where the oven knob is set. It a good thing that we didn't try to do a turkey this Thanksgiving! I worked for Southern California Gas about 40 years ago as a tech and used to do this kind of work. Some special tools are needed as well as the appropriate thermometer.
  5. Our propane oven does not work properly. It needs to be adjusted and calibrated. Does anyone know of a technician who does this kind of work? Continental, is the brand of the stove/oven.
  6. El Fagon de Charlotte was our favorite restaurant. We knew Carlos, Lori and Charlotte personally. I was absolutely stunned when I heard the news today. The Lakeside has lost its innocence and we can no longer say, THAT does not happen here.
  7. It´s next to restaurant Doña Fonda Lola on the west side of Ajijic, lakeside of the street.
  8. Now now HoneyBee, it's not as bad as ALL that, lol.
  9. Naturists are people who live life in the nude. Google The Naturist Society if you are not aware. Is there a group there promoting this way of living?
  10. Kyle, I have had crowns and bridges done by Dra. Candy and I have been very pleased with her work. If you have any problems, talk to her. She is very understanding and reasonable. I just had a root canal done, by her oral surgeon, and she is going to put in an inlay. Current practice is not to put in a crown if possible but an inlay, Dra. Candy told me. I´ll have that work done on Nov 10th.
  11. Does anyone have any recent experience with this facility?
  12. I had my brakes done yesterday. The front didn't need to be done after all. The rotors and drums were turned. They discovered that the large lower control arm bushings needed to be replaced. They called, gave me a price and I OK'd it. They showed me the bad bushings and one was absolutely trashed. Felipe and his wife Rosie appear to be the real deal, honest people. I would recommend them heartily. Yes, they do habla ingles.
  13. I just got back home. Alex replied to my email a little earlier today. His dad lives in a rural area and does not have internet service at his house on the outskirts of town. Alex went to the local library and bought some time on their computer to access his email account. Alex says that his Mexican cell phone doesn't pick up a signal in the area. He'll be in Laredo January 8th through 12th. So, I'd contact him by email regarding a delivery/pick up in Laredo slated for January.
  14. Thanks El Saltos. It would have been nice if he had emailed that information out to his clients, of which I am one.
  15. I can recommend my gardener Otilio Leal. His phone number is 045-333-467-2366. Otilio speaks ingles well, and works with his brother. He is very reliable.
  16. He hasn't responded to email over the last few days. One of his phone numbers doesn't work, left a message on his other cell phone number at 9 am today.
  17. We were headed to iShop from Chapala on our way home to Ajijic and we saw the front door open. I dropped my wife off as I went to find a place to park. The restaurant is open and it is the same cook. I am not sure if Sandra the waitress has returned. It's the same excellent menu. We are going tomorrow.
  18. I just bought a Hospitalization policy for my wife who is 84. The policy is with Cigna which is based in the US. Cigna has two plans for expats, one that provides coverage for you at your country of citizenship and your country of residence. The other plan is global for world travelers and will cover you no matter where you are. I got the policy from Chris McGough who works with Jesus Tejada. He can be reached at chris@tejedainsurance.com Chris is a very nice guy.
  19. My gardener's name is Otilio Leal. He's nice, speaks English well and works with his brother. They come to my home in La Canacinta just west of Ajijic. They live in the area. The phone number on his business card is 333-467-2366 Otilio lists the several kinds of work that he does. PM me and I will scan it and send it to you.
  20. I had one on June 17th. The GI doc was Dr. Paulo Santana Arias from Guadalajara. He is a referral from my local internist Dr. Gerardo Leon. The procedure was at the Ajijic Hospital The base cost was 5800 pesos. Polyp studies 500 pesos/ea. I had two. There were no problems or complications.
  21. Most sciatic pain is caused by the piriformis muscle being in contraction/spasm. It is one of the lateral rotator muscles under the glutes. It can be worked by a knowledgeable massage therapist, and stretched. In other cases the sciatic nerve roots can be entrapped at the lumbar vertebrae due to tight lower back muscles, which of course can be worked and released by a knowledgeable massage therapist. If it isn't muscular, there can be other problems and a good orthopedist should be consulted. Pain killers may help in the short term, but the majority of the time the cause is tight muscles which need to be released. Find a good massage therapist. Retired massage therapist.
