  1. Try calling them at 1 206-266-2992 That is the Amazon customer service line. You can also try their 800 number - 1 (877) 586-3230
  2. Hi did you sell the iPhone yet?

  3. And 3 days before the 4th, the Canadian Club is holding a Canada Day event. So you can celebrate twice! Friday, July 1, 2016Canada Day CelebrationOur Club together with the royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 and 904 Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association celebrate together at the Nuevo Chapala Club House, located at Zaragoza #731, Chapala (up the hill from the Pemex station)
  4. I went to the main Telcel office in Plaza Laguna the other day and was told that any calls I make using my cell phone with a Telcel SIM card while in the US or Canada will be free. In other words, it is the same as if I were calling the US or Canada from Mexico - free.
  5. Well...see Spencer's comment above. I would accept his advice as he is a lawyer and therefore knows the rules. And I know of people with a foreign plated vehicle who have been stopped by the traffic police in Guadalajara and questioned as to why they do not have the sticker. So while Spencer says "technically" I am not sure I would want to debate this with a traffic cop if stopped for some other apparent infraction.
  6. At 8:15 a.m.today - Down 14.46; Up 0.78. 3 blocks North of Carretera between Revolucion and Encarnacion Rosas

  11. My Telcel plan gives me 1GB Data, Unlimited free calls to the US and Canada as well as within Mexico for a total cost of 199 Pesos per month. And I get Internet speeds of 23.6 Mbps download and 22.30 Mbps Upload, which is far better than Telmex Infinitum. I have installed the app for my VOIP service on my Android phone and can use it to make and receive calls with far superior sound quality, particularly for the other person. But competition is always good......
  12. My understanding from people who have used 1USA/AT&T is that currently the coverage outside of major centres, including Lakeside, is not good. That said, they say they will be setting up addition cellular towers etc. to provide country wide service. So if you are travelling much outside of this area and Guadalajara you may not have any service for the immediate future. That is the reason I will stay with Telcel as I want to make sure I have service in an emergency.
  13. We have had some false alarms and SOSE has always called within 5 minutes. We have also found Danny to be very responsive. When we were not at home, we know they came to check things out. Several friends have the SOSE system and have had good service. Like any other service, people will have good and bad experiences. I guess we are lucky.
  14. Here is their phone number so. you could call to find out (37) 67 65 21 41
  15. Yes, apparently the rate has increased by 50 pesos.
  16. Here is what I understand to be the only official testing station in the area. I have been there twice. The whole test only took about 10 minutes. There is a standard government set fee for this. If you go to anywhere else, you might find they charge more. Also, they may say that you need new spark plugs, air filter, etc. etc. Here are the directions: CONTROL VERIFICATION MANDATORY VEHICLE ZARAGOZA STREET #375 CENTER CHAPALA TURN LEFT AT THE LIGHTS IN CHAPALA TAKE THE SECOND STREET TO THE RIGHT THEN CONTINUE DOWN THE SECOND STREET FOR TWO BLOCKS. TURN LEFT ONTO ZARAGOZA. CONTROL IS ABOUT HALF A BLOCK UP ON THE RIGHT,
  17. I would highly recommend Dr. Leonardo Millan who I was referred to through Dra. Teresa Morales in Jocotepec. His e-mail is drmillan2012@gmail.com. I had total knee replacement surgery at the end of December last year in Guadalajara. Three years before that I had knee replacement surgery on the other knee, in Ontario. I would say that the experience with Dr. Millan was at least equal to, if not better, that up north. One of the advantages with Dr. Millan is that all the follow up visits can be done in Jocotopec, instead of having to drive into Guadalajara as with many of the other surgeons. I interviewed 3 other surgeons and decided that Dr. Millan was the right choice for me. For physio, I would recommend Adriana Diaz Badial Cell: 333 955 1625 Email: aditedb@hotmail.com Adriana came to the house, which was very convenient.
  18. I suspect that Banco Actinver has a Canadian dollar account with RBC. So your Canadian funds will be deposited to their account at RBC. Then they give you credit to your peso account with them. Essentially, Actinver do the FX. The only caution is that you check the FX rate against what you would have got if you had effected an electronic funds transfer directly from your Canadian bank to Actinver. Or deposited a Canadian dollar cheque with an organization such as Intercam, and have them do a same day transfer to your account at Actinver. Also, there may be "buried" fees in the peso equivalent they credit to your account.
  19. You would need to contact the pension administrator in Canada to see if they can do that. I suspect, but don't know for sure, that you would be better off having it paid into your Canadian bank and then do the transefer yourself, per the various suggestions already made. If you are concerned about tax,and you are a non-resident for Canadian tax purposes, you can request the pension administrator to withhold at the non-resident rate which, for Mexico, would be 15%.
  20. That is really surprising. When I give a Canadian dollar cheque to Intercam it usually is debited to my Canadian bank account within a week. And as I mentioned before, Intercam give me same day value here.
  21. The last time I checked a while ago, Bancomer wouldn't give credit for a Candian or US cheque for about 10 days. Generally, I have found Intercam's rates to be competitive.
  22. You need to get the routing information from your bank in Mexico. Depending on the Mexican bank, they may have different BIC (SWIFT Codes) for various types of transfers. For example, Bancomer has several, depending on the transaction. Here is what one Canadian bank requires: The address or BIC (SWIFT Code) of the destination bank. The recipient's name and address. The recipient's International Bank Account Number(IBAN), if applicable. They charge $13.50 per transfer. Also our Mexican bank makes a service charge. We used to transfer funds this way, but now we have a relationship with Intercam (by Oxxo on the Carretera). I just give them a cheque drawn on my Canadian bank and ask them to convert to pesos and transfer the same day to my Peso account with my Mexican bank. The transfer is made within a few hours and I receive an e-mail confirmation. Rosey at the Intercam reception desk speaks English and will help you set things up if you decide to use them. There are also other banks or foreign exchange offices in Ajijic who will offer similar services. The advantage with Intercam (and maybe others) is that they give me same day credit for my Canadian dollar cheques.
