  1. Yesterday morning my beloved dog, Honey, died from a stroke. We had a ramp for her to get from the floor to the bed and back down because she had back and vision issues. If someone has a pet who is old or crippled and could use this ramp, I would be pleased to offer it to them. Vaya con Dios to my precious girl. (I have posted this on Furry Friends but more people go here so I am offering it here as well. If I am inappropriate, please just delete this. I just want to reach as many people as possible.)
  2. Thank you Xena. My heart is bleeding. Thank you Mudgirl for your condolences. I had my ramp made at the Have Hammers carpenter shop where the students are taught. I am not looking for payment. I am looking for a pet in need. It was a real blessing to Honey and made her life so much easier.
  3. My granddaughter has a heart disorder that causes her blood pressure to plummet unexpectedly. Her service dog tries to warn her beore she goes down but afterward, she lies agross my granddaughter's legs to increase the blood flow to her brain. These animals are wonderful.

  5. I dropped Part B for 1 1/2 years for financial reasons. When I tried to get back on, I had to wait 6 months for open enrollment. After you enroll, there is still a 6 month wait before it goes into effect AND you have the privilege of paying a penalty the rest of your life. The penalty goes up each year you are uncovered.
  6. Yes, as a matter of fact, I am defensive. I am immune suppressed and a Covid death is horrible (you slowly drown in your own fluids). I am one you could kill. Hope you can live with it if you infect someone in order to protect your right not to be inconvenienced.. I couldn't live with myself if my behavior caused the death or severe illness with unknown sequalae to someone else. Stay safe and healthy and, please, stay away from me.
  7. Our "'asinine demands" include wearing a mask, distancing, and washing your hands. Personally, I think protecting others over my own desires is important. It literally costs you nothing but a little inconvenience to save the lives of others. If you consider that moralizing, that's your problem, not mine.

    Sausage

Many thanks, everyone. My son wants his Mom's lasagna so I need to get the makings.
  9. Wearing a mask and distancing cost you nothing. My wearing a mask protects you and not me. I am immune suppressed and have stayed home except on the rare occasions I have to go out. By you refusing to wear a mask and distance yourself from me, you can kill me. YOUR RIGHT TO NOT FOLLOW PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES ENDS WHEN YOU THREATEN MY LIFE! I am sorry it inconveniences you but that is no reason to potentially infect someone else. The virus is here. We are not testing. We have no idea who or how many people are infected. People can be infected without symptoms and can infect others. Concern for the wellbeing of fellow humans does not seem to one of your strong suits.

    Sausage

Can anyone suggest where I can find sweet and hot Italian sausage? Thanks.
  11. I am looking for a stationary bike that will accommodate a large man. It can be new or used. Can anyone recommend where I might find one? Thanks.
  12. This may not be a racial issue but it certainly appears to be a police brutality issue. Not wearing a face mask should not be a capital offense.
  13. We just got back from Santa Cruz to pay our maid for the next two months (as we have been doing). If things improve, she will come back to work but I am immune suppressed and she has a large extended family. She told me that Covid is in Chapala. I do not know if this is true or how she knows but it wouldn't be surprising as it is already documented on two sides of Chapala. We are between Chapala and Jocotepec, so it is headed our way. In no way shape or form do I think we are even into the worst of this yet. People, please be careful and stay safe.
  14. A professional woman we know in Guadalajara just checked in with us to see how we were doing. She said that there is civil unrest in the city and a person has been killed (shot by police). Does anyone have any verified information about this?
  15. Thanks for the hints. I fear that paper clips would be too stiff and be uncomfortable to wear. I'll check out the place in Ajijic, if they are open. I appreciate all the suggestions and support. Thanks.
  16. I am making masks for high risk responders, nursing homes, etc. I am running out of pipe cleaners to secure the mask over the nose. Does anyone know where I can find some or would be willing to sell or donate some to me so I can continue? Thanks.
  17. They have stopped selling alcohol to try to reduce domestic violence with people kept in close quarters at home.
  18. I want to say, "Thank you" to Chapalence. Because of her fabric and elastic donation to me, I have been able to make 27 masks. I am out of the elastic but still have more of her material to continue. I'll just have to get creative for the ties. Five of the masks went to medical providers. I am making 40 for Nurse Mina who has an assisted living facility. 19 are for her workers and 21 for her clients. I will continue making masks for our first line care providers like Mina. Thank you again, Chapalence, for your donation.
  19. Suspended maid on full pay and a warning to stay off the bus. The gardener is hired by the owner of the house and is still working. I have no contact with him.
  20. I am sorry you felt that my helping my maid because I  can is disrespectful of her.  It was not intended that way.  She is my friend and she needs help.  I had a doctor friend who earned a whole lot more than me but had to have back surgery and needed help with her children.  I flew to where she was and took care of her children.  She was a friend and needed help also.  That doesn't mean I am demeaning either of my friends.

  21. I am still looking for the supplies. Does anyone have any 1/4 or 1/2 inch fabric wired ribbon or 1/4 or 3/8 inch elastic I could have to help our care providers? I am not looking for patterns, I am looking for supplies.
  22. My maid has worked for me for the past nine years and has become a friend. She is very poor and cannot feed her kids without working. She came Friday and I gave her full pay through the end of April and told her to stay off the bus. I am immune suppressed and have no desire to get the virus so I will re-evaluate the situation then. Anyone who thinks this will last five days needs a reality check. I am middle class but, comparatively speaking, I live like a queen. With the exchange rate being what it is, her costs to me are minimal. Let's share the wealth, people. Reach out to those who are in trouble and help them. Businesses are required by law to pay minimum wages to their workers for at least a month. We should do at least that.
  23. I know HOW to make the masks based on a surgeon's experience and the pattern she made. They are washable and reusable. The question was does anyone knows how I can get the supplies to do so? They would be donated to our hospital and doctor's offices to help keep our first responders safe. I need: Supplies: *Tightly woven cotton cut into 9 inch squares ( 2 squares per mask) (1/2 in square plaids would speed up the production time but any tightly woven cotton would work.) 12 inches of 1/4 or 1/2 inch fabric wired ribbon (1 per mask) Version 1: 7 inch strips of 1/4 or 3/8 inch elastic (2 per mask) If some one has these items and would like to donate them, I will make the masks. If someone knows a way for me to get these supplies, again, I will make and distribute them. The time will come when we too will be affected by this virus. Personal protection equipment will be in short supply. These masks are not N95 but they will help protect those who take care of us (including maintenance and hospital kitchen staff, etc.) I am just trying to be proactive contribute to the safety of others.
  24. Joyinmexico, Elegante is offering $300mxn boxed meals but they have to be preordered by phone or online and picked up at the door. Only the chef will be handling the food and he keeps an immaculate kitchen.
