Angus, when was the last time you drove this route ?
-
Has anyone driven this route lately ? Is it safe ? I drove it several times in 2019 mid day without problem; but that was over a year ago. It saves about 100 miles from South Padre Island to Lakeside versus going through Monterrey.
-
We have had this problem come up several times over the last 13 years; showed our Residente Permanente card and the problem went away.

Why would Canadians return this winter

I beg to differ; most of the airport including the passenger terminals are in Mississauga. The dividing line between Etobicoke and Mississauga in the area of the airport is Highway 427 except where it wiggles near the 401. The Airport Hilton on Airport Road is east of the passenger terminals and is also in Mississauga. The Peel Regional Police (region that includes Mississauga) patrol at the airport because it is in Mississauga. -
My Telcel service works fine in Canada and the US just like it works in Mexico; incoming calls, outgoing calls, text messages and data on the Amigo plan; I add 100 pesos at a time which is good for up to 60 days. I am not a heavy user except for data when I travel. No I don't pay 50 pesos to add North American coverage. I do buy extra data packages when required. The Mi Telcel app on my phone tells me my remaining balance and I can recharge as required.

I also have an Iphone 7 with the Amigo plan and use it frequently in the US. If you are using cellular data for everything you are probably drawing down the megabytes before the 30 day refill time. I use a lot of cellular data when travelling so I also purchase an amigo internet package to prevent drawing down my regular package. WiFi is pretty straight forward; turn it on, connect to a network you know and enter the password, then you are connected. If that doesn't work go into a Best Buy or Apple store and ask any clerk to help you. I recharge using the Mi Telcel app on my phone with a credit card (US or Mexican). Never had a problem.

SE Ajijic, continual TelMex internet disconnects

We are central Ajijic near the lake; TV streaming has been a problem. I reported it to Ilox by email on Saturday; no answer yet. -
SE Ajijic, continual TelMex internet disconnects
Out1 replied to Mainecoons's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
I have been having internet problems with both Telmex and Ilox for 3-4 days. Do a speed test at nperf.com and you can see the bandwidth drop out to zero within the 10-15 second test. -
Many places are rebottling from large containers to small pump type bottles so there is no way to tell what the product is. The sanitizer used at front door of Walmart is very sticky compared to other hand sanitizers. If the virus doesn't get you the hand sanitizer might.

I wouldn't advertise it as a business directory; maybe advertisers directory. -
Where to buy SD memory card for camera at lakeside
Out1 replied to sm1mex's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
There is always Amazon.com.mx or Mercadolibre -
I have been emailing Ilox all week about the poor speeds; nothing has improved; maybe it is all of Ajijic.

In general, if you have buffering on Netflix, Youtube or Hulu then the problem is likely your internet service is too slow or it maybe that you have an original Firestick; a Firestick 4K may solve your problem. If you don't have buffering problems on Netflix or Youtube but have buffering on IPTV then the problem is likely your IPTV source.

Not all VPNs are equal. I am convinced that Ilox throttles streaming if you don't have a VPN. John Shrall said above that Ilox throttles torrent downloads. You obviously need a good VPN to hide your upload destination. Test a few different VPNs on your uploads; StrongVPN works for my needs. By the way I think Ilox guaranteed me 100 down and 70 up when I signed up 2 years ago; never got better than 40 up from day one and they have never done anything to improve it; today 90 down and 22 up through StrongVPN.

Try StrongVPN; server from Houston. Works very well for me.

A strong do not travel to MX from USGOV

The Level 4 travel advisory was world wide until today; now several other countries are just level 3. -
I had a similar problem last week with channel 232; I did a factory default reset then had to call Shaw to re-authorize the receiver and still couldn't get 232. The tech guy at Shaw told me to check the cables. The next day 232 worked, that night it rained and 232 didn't work. So I think I have a problem when the cables get wet. Must be time to replace those 12 year old cables on the roof.

U.S. Citizen Driving Mexican Vehicle into U.S.?
Out1 replied to jh5127's topic in Customs and Immigration
I don't think a US Permanent Resident (green card) can legally drive a foreign plated vehicle in the US as they are considered a resident of the US. If she shows a Mexican drivers licence and more ID such as immigration status is required because of an accident I think there will be problems. A US non-resident citizen can drive a foreign plated vehicle for up to a year. -
Back up in Ajijic; except upload speed is very poor.
-
I ILOX down in Ajijic; I have a LOS flashing red light.
-
Thanks, I know what to look for; been to just about every dealer in Guad and couldn't find anything with the DOT and EPA stickers.
-
RickS; can you let me know which vehicles made for Mexico meet the EPA/DOT standards; I would like to buy one.

Stay away if you think everyone should be wearing a mask. Just walked the dog and saw more people than I have seen on the malecon since March; at least 25 people (more than 50%) without masks.
