  1. Another hopeless case, searching for that "right" answer. He´ll know it when it finally arrives.
  2. i agree that is probably the only and the best way to do it, swift # to swift #, but he doesn´t want to use a bank.
  3. Well you got one person to agree with you about cutting the time to arrive before departure so that should be your consensus for doing what you want.
  4. Happyjillin is it safe to tippytoe through this board or do I have fear a strike from you? Come on folks, his penetration of anyones´s psyche is about as deep as a thimble full of water. If he bothers you, you should probably stay out of the sun too.
  5. Where´s happyjillin when we really need him?????...…..to take the heat off all these innocent bystanders???
  6. "now we check the balance every week or two" That´s what you have to do or even oftener now with online banking systems. I wouldn´t go away and leave my house unlocked and ask someone to check it once a month. Heavily used credit cards are like unlocked houses.
  7. Absolutely, and the xxxx-in-chief, or one of his xenophobic stooges, has indicated they would like to stop that flow of funds, altogether. Sorry, my American friends on the board, for taking such a Mexican point of view opinion. but that´s just who I am.
  8. Many years ago when i lived in San Antonio Ocampo, Mich, which is east of Zamora up in the sierra, there were more vehicles with US Indiana placas than Michoacán. They would go up to Gary/Calumet to work in the steel mills and travel freely back and forth to visit and be with family and the old folks. Of course, no one who stayed behind in Mexico could afford a vehicle but they would bring them down and leave with the indiana plates. Now with the strict enforcement of vehicle importation into Mexico and immigration policies in the US, those days are over and families are much more isolated from each other than they were 30/40 years ago. Two or three trips back and forth every year were not uncommon.
  9. It´s even better than that, I took Moses (Moises) to see Pythia, the Oracle of Delphi, and she confirmed that either address will work until it doesn´t. Mose takes his responsibilities seriously, and I can bear witness to his development from day one to now. He wasn´t always this inaccessible…..LOL.....like the days when he very first started in the SAT store. A perfect example of how a harmless question can turn into a ridiculous thread.
  10. I´m all ears gringo man, thanks for the headsup.
  11. You are guys are creating a tempest in a teapot. Either of the aforementioned names work and could be considered official. Even through La Floresta the carretera has several names including Carretera Chapala-Jocotepec Ote. and some Chinese name. In Chapala, the Riberas area it can be the Carretera blah, blah, blah, or Hidalgo and on and on If you travel to the big city, the name changes frequently from eje to eje. In Mexico, everyone likes to get in on the naming game, street names are a way of honoring and recognizing people, places, and events.------makes postal and delivery people really be on their toes.....LOL For many years, years ago when FEDEX first started serving Mexico, they couldn´t even recognize SAT, and if you wanted a delivery there, you had to call it Chapala.
  12. Find a lawyer who will draft a will, not all do, then take it to a Notario Publico for official registration and future enforcement/viability.
  13. I heard that at his new assignment, if you don´t grease the palm, you get a big smear of wet paint right in the face. LOL
  14. Hector delivered paint to El Gordo....now that´s laughable news. Probably painting stripes on the center lines of the Carretera by hand. Wait until he´s finished for your accolades and thank you note
  15. Good post traderspoc. I am always skeptical of these reported bank fraud activities. I´m sure some are correct but after dealing with Mexican main stream banking institutions for over 40 years without any problem, I just have the gut feeling that sometimes things might have a different spin than just the sensationalized media accounts of the situation, and there might be more of the story that is not included. I have never lost any money or sleep over any Mexican banking activity. Of course living in a peso economy and peso earnings, what it is in relation to the US dollar doesn´t concern me in the least. When the peso had sudden and dramatic loss fluctuations against the US dollar, the interest rates raised in accordance, and prices for the products that were imported, and wages and salaries followed right behind. In 90+ % of the country where real estate in sold and bought by Mexicans. prices (in pesos) lagged for a little while but eventually came up to the new value of the currency. A lot of people made a lot of money buying pesos on the future, 18 months out, when we had severe devaluations, before NAFTA. Big foreign corporations doing business in Mexico, would sell their calculated future peso profits for a pittance of what they would be worth a year and a half out as they wanted to guarantee some kind of profit. Those days are over for the foreseeable future.
  16. Who cares?......other than the four above. LOL
  17. There is deposit insurance but you have to know where it is valid. Check out Ley de Protección al Ahorro Bancario.
  18. Couldn´t have said it better myself, and if I could, I wouldn´t. LOL
  19. No entiendes la "o " por lo redondo...…...
  20. I´ll say your housekeeper doesn´t know what she´s talking about. There are price control limits on certain staples but not on Coca Cola or any other refresco. Walmart, Soriana, or any other chain or individually owned tienda, restaurant, puesto, or whatever can charge whatever they want. Housekeepers are not always the best source of info for how sociedades anonimas run their business,
  21. I think you should qualify your post by saying "foreigners, no lucrativo"". Mexicans and foreigners engaged in any kind of business activity here have to have domestic bank accounts for accounting and tax reporting purposes. Even if you rent out a casita, a Mexican account is necessary, and why would any Mexican or even a foreigner risk sending their funds to the US? There are a lot of good banks and bankers in Mexico and the SMA situation, if it happened as reported, is a rare exception. I have never lost any sleep over it and put it in the same category of chance as the foreigners who are murdered in Mexico, maybe even less. (edited by moderator to remove political comment)
  22. Health care in Mexico is determined by Mexicans and Mexican needs, not foreigners. Basically it is…... SP for the poor IMSS for the working poor and lower middle class Private doctors and hospitals for the upper middle class and well off Just figure where you fit in if you are a foreign resident, it´s not that difficult gringal, I don´t believe the new SAT hospital is affiliated with the company offering US medicare recuperation of costs other than leasing them space. The payment/cashier caja at the hospital certainly isn´t offering them.
  23. LOL......better than "thank you…..good byeeee"
  24. For years, they sold it on the northwest corner of the Carretera and Colon in Ajijic. Don´t know if they still do.
  25. This gets my vote for "The most worthless thread of the month" award--------LOL...…(maybe the year)
