  1. I'm looking for a good welder who can weld an broken aluminum welded rear fender on an electric bike. Thanks.
  2. I crossed at Anzalduas two weeks ago. Plenty of hotel, shopping and eating places between Pharr and Laredo. Left aduana at 7:30 and arrived back in SAT at 6:30. Eleven hours with only minimal gas and bano breaks. Mostly close to speed limit. Paid 1,480 pesos in tolls, 14 toll booths. Easy drive. Used WAZE gps.
  3. I would highly recommend Anzalduas bridge at Pharr, Texas. Crossed a couple of weeks back around 7:30 a.m. and was third in line for TIP and 180 day visitor permit. In and out in 30 minutes or less. Laredo has only gotten worse recently, crossed there two months ago, with all the immigrant activity and all immigrants being detained in Nuevo Laredo. Plus locating the aduana office is a major headache and a number of the border patrol agents in Laredo are complete jerks.
  4. If you cross near McAllen at Anzalduas or Pharr/Hidalgo early morning around 6:30 or 7:00 A.M., you'll likely be very close to the front of the line to fill out your Immigration Permit and TIP forms. Aduana is right there. Very simple process and you'll be on your hassle free way in a half hour or less. Laredo is a totally different story and I'd advice avoid crossing at the Laredo International Bridges I or II at all costs. Google Border Wait Times complete listing of bridges, times of operation and usual wait times.
  5. Any info on where to get a flu shot? Preferably a drop in not requiring a visit to my doctor's office. Thanks.
  6. I've got no sound on my PC and am not savvy enough to troubleshoot and fix. Any computer techs who would be available to come by and help me out? Of course I'll pay for the help. I'm in lower Chula Vista. PM me. Thanks. Problem solved. Had to download driver. Thanks.
  7. Also much easier to locate Aduana and obtain TIP and Visa at Pharr than Laredo.
  8. Would appreciate it if someone knows the daily rate for parking in the parking garage at the GDL airport. Gracias.
  9. I have the dreaded 5:59 a.m. flight on 9/2 from GDL to San Jose, CR via Panama City. Just wondering if two hours before departing flight is sufficient or should I allow more time? Also would appreciate the number of the Miramontes? for an early morning ride to the airport. Thanks.
  10. Anyone have the 3 digit number to reach Telmex and have them remotely check my internet connection or lack thereof? Thanks.
  11. Does the improvement in Telmex internet speed in SAT apply to lower Chula Vista?
  12. Can you purchase the Tag Pase at Oxxo or is it better to call and order one? If you do call and order one are there any English speaking options or strictly Spanish? What is the cost? Thanks.
  13. I had a round, semi hollow, jadeite disk, Aztec or Mayan in origin, no questions about antiquity, only that it would not be allowed because I could pop somebody in the coconut with it, I guess. If I had put a string through the hole in the middle and worn it around my neck I think I wouldn't have had a problem.
  14. Could someone please provide info on how much the embassy notary charges and what form of payment is acceptable? Thanks.
  15. Don't I wish. Three blocks up, Privada de las Penas, 1.7 Download, 0.26 Upload.
  16. I had a US Amazon Prime account but when I relocated back to Lakeside I switched to Amazon Mexico. Can't say enough good things about them. Prime is two day delivery max. Some things that come from the US take longer. I use a US credit card. I'm not sure who the delivery people are but I live in Chula Vista and have ordered maybe four or five items from Amazon Mexico with ZERO problem or delay. They are very good about emailing you with the status of your order or you can go online and check on it. Highly recommend.
  17. Thanks. I'll check with them about when they might be installing this way unless someone on the board knows.
  18. I know this has been posted before but where is the local Ilox office located? Also, does anyone know if they provide service in Chula Vista just up from the golf course and tennis courts? Thanks.
  19. Went for a procedure a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad experience and certainly better than going to Guad since I wouldn't have been permitted to drive afterward so would have had to taxi and bus. However, it was I thought on the pricey side and both the doctor and anesthesiologist required that I pay them cash after the procedure apart from the regular hospital bill which I was able to pay by credit card. I'll probably go to Guad if the need arises in the future but it's nice to have the new facility here for emergencies.
  20. I had one performed yesterday at the new Hospital San Antonio here in Ajijic by gastroenterologist Dr. Daniel Briseno. The total charge was $14,580. I had a polyp removed which was sent to the laboratory in Guadalajara for biopsy which added an extra $1,680.00MX to the price. so without the biopsy the charge would have been $12,900MX. I paid the doctor in cash, $6,000, and the hospital bill was $8,580.00. The crap you have to drink the day before the procedure, 4 packets/2 liters total, cost $500MX. It was done under partial anesthesia so not much discomfort. Believe me, the prep was far worse than the actual procedure. Nice new facility here and very courteous staff. Overall a good experience.
  21. Just moved back after a couple of unhappy years back in the states. I'm in need of an iron & ironing board and possibly a few other odds and ends. Used is fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all.
  22. My poop-in-the-box or Cologuard test came back positive. When she received the report back from Cologuard, my internist in the States said I needed to make an appointment with a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy as soon as possible. Of course, false positives on the Cologuard are not unheard of but colonoscopy is the next step after the test returns positive.
  23. I'd like to hear from folks who have had a colonoscopy performed in this area. Guadalajara in particular. Hospital, doctor, cost, any experience good or bad with the procedure. Appreciate any input, positive or negative.
  24. I'm driving to Ajijic in May and crossing at Pharr/Reynosa. Would greatly appreciate directions to Ajijic once I cross the border at Pharr/Reynosa and a decent motel to stop at and spend the night before continuing on to Ajijic. Don't care for the Midway in Matehuala. Thanks.
