"Good-bye — if you hear of my being stood up against a Mexican stone wall and shot to rags please know that I think that a pretty good way to depart this life. It beats old age, disease, or falling down the cellar stairs. To be a Gringo in Mexico — ah, that is euthanasia!"

  1. So... are you saying that we should only post wonderful, glowing, happy happy happy reviews - even if the businesses don't deserve them? The major reason so many places go out of business here is because they don't (or won't) listen to what the customers want. If I like a business, I support it. I don't throw pity money at it just because the owners have a family. Life is tough, so is business - anywhere.
  2. I also think it is waaay overpriced for the amount one gets. For 80 pesos or less, one can get an entire roasted/BBQ'd chicken with sides that will last for a number of meals. I just can't pay "north of the border" prices when there are so many less expensive alternatives.
  3. We're big fans of Peter's Mariscos (sooo convenient for us), but I have been wanting to try out Lupita's for awhile. With all of these recommendations... Mmmm - sounds good!
  4. RVGRINGO was referring to broken shards of glass cemented into the top of walls to discourage anyone wanting to climb over.
  5. I would rather drive to Cinco Portrillos any day of the week than to almost any of the restaurants in Chapala/Ajijic. It's always a great meal. Great owner, great staff, great prices, great portions, great guns - I'm hungry now! Mmmm... Parrilladas!
  6. Our group of four also found the restaurant to be average at best. And we went on a slow night when we should have been the centre of attention. We all agreed that they are not any competition to Tango, Hacienda Ajijic or anyone else. Just my 2 centavos, for what it's worth.
