  1. "Don't ask, don't tell" fits many situations in many countries.....
  2. Left off that list was a free annual mammogram and free prostate exam and free blood tests (if/when ordered by a Doc). But/and all these and the things that you mentioned come with the key words.... YOUR DOCTOR. One can't just 'travel north' and bop into an office to get them done at will. My experience and information from others in the US is that getting that annual appointment can be daunting or at least not 'in a couple of days or weeks'. IMO if one is/would be considering going north for any of these services one might surely want to find a Doc willing to accommodate your needs.
  3. Can one actually fly with a desktop computer as luggage? Would it survive?
  4. RV... is there a price-differential buying an iMac in the States vs in Mexico... say in Guadalajara?
  5. You are correct.... is it new in a box? I would take it out of it's original box if possible and present it as used....
  6. I purchased a HA's from Costco and was pleased with their selection and their audiologist center/personnel. AND, Costco pricing on said HA.
  7. Moderator maybe could make CG's information a Sticky?!?
  8. Dental Express west Ajijic... latest techniques
  9. Well, that's not quite how it happened, but.... Mexconnect was in fact the go-to website before any of the others had anything/much going. BUT, the Forum was just a small part of the offerings on Mexconnect as they, over the years, have had some fabulous writers. IMO, the main reason the Forum is seeing less traffic these days is the advent of other Forums like this one and Bob's as well as Facebook. Back in the old days San Miguel, with it's Expat population, also did not have a forum but does now. Times change. Moderator, Mexconnect
  10. Ditto for Lakeside. Seemingly very tolerant.... if that is even a good description. Most of us could care less what your sexual preferences are. Now being African American.... I don't know about that!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜
  11. Yes, on the surface it would seem to be a recipe for trouble. BUT, if one knows what they are doing it can be OK. I've done maybe 15 sight unseen over the last 5-10 years, including one 2 weeks ago, and haven't yet been sorry. Just gotta do your homework.
  12. Just make sure the house already has a phone or service. Some don't and lead time can be long or forever. Understand the true meaning of the word maรฑana!
  13. Get a life dude and chill! Post was clearly marked. If it doesn't interest you don't open it in the first place. And I strongly suggest that you go back on your meds...
  14. Telcel also has a " me casa" service which is a box in your home, utilizing the cell signal then broadcasting WiFi inside the house.
  15. i suspect that the OP knows of those options....
  16. As the name implies (to some), an SSD device (Solid State Drive) is basically electronic memory set up to mimic a physical, mechanical disk drive. As such read and writing data to/from a SSD drive is all done with circuitry and not a physical twirling disk that has to be accessed by a physical 'arm' before info can be gathered and used by a program. As a generalization think in terms of miliseconds... thousandths of a second.... versus maybe 1/2 a second to access the same info. For another not so good analogy think 'dial-up access versus a fiber optics access'. ๐Ÿ˜Š Hard to answer your other question... An SSD device will make any program/operating system that has to access data MUCH faster. It will NOT act like a faster CPU (brain) but the affects of changing to an SSD can be much more dramatic than either adding a faster CPU and/or more internal memory. Also having someone 'clean up' your installation can also make a dramatic difference.... especially at Startup. Someone local like CG could do both things for you and your (computer) life would benefit significantly.
  17. Sonia's information about the contact was not 3 years ago... much more recent. Of course contacting her is still an option but.....
  18. One does NOT have to swipe the newer Kindle. Simply touch either side of the screen to go forward or backwards. Easier than pushing a button. Quick and easy peasy.
  19. On the other hand... I installed Win10 over Win7 when that became available and on a 7 YO laptop. Recently installed an SSD drive. Now runs like the proverbial spotted a** ape. I always do updates including the latest to Ver 1903 last week. Still got a blazingingly fast but old laptop. To each his own I guess.
  20. I don't enjoy reading on my iPad because of 1) the glare of the screen, 2) the weight/size of the iPad and 3) the blue light that comes from those screens. I much prefer the 'ink-like' characteristics of the Kindle and Nook. YMMV
  21. Mine uses the same cable that I use for my Android phone... and other similar devices but not the apple cable.... so I don't remember even what I did with the cable that came with.
  22. I recently bought the 'new' Kindle like below. Perfect size for me. One can surely read it in the sunlight. The 'lights' it talks about are not really visible but do make it so one can read in the dark also.... but I always prefer a little light in the room when I read. I've read a couple of books and haven't recharged it yet. https://www.amazon.com/All-new-Kindle-now-with-a-built-in-front-light/dp/B07DLPWYB7
  23. There were lawyers who said that they could Import a US vehicle at the Guadalajara airport instead of at the border as the law requires several years ago. Some bit, most got burned for 1,000s Caveat Emptor
