  1. We cannot compare Chapala with other regions. We also pay around 35 pesos in Oaxaca for the same distance. Even the airport taxis are more expensive here than anywhere else. Second biggest city in Mexico!!!
  2. Bingo! That's it? I'll try this. Thank you! This problem just happened this last week. Am I wrong to believe that Firefox is lazy or too busy with the holidays with too much work? 😀
  3. I snooped around and, in fact, there is a new Firefox called Quantum, which offers faster and easier browsing. I'm not sure the problem I experience has to do with the new version. It seems that what you suggested about the background service is the cause. I'll sleep on it. Good night!
  4. Oh my! I have never, never updated Firefox. It just changed once without me doing anything. I know because I still have the old version on my desk top and I did not put it there.😀 If the problem continues after the holidays, I will try to learn how to update it.
  5. I restart my PC every day. Even with this, I get this problem with Firefox every second day. I thought it was because the lines were too busy during Xmas. Don't laugh if my assumption is wrong. . . I don't know much about technical stuff. At least now I feel better knowing that there's nothing wrong with my PC. Thank you so much!!!😀
  6. How can I get rid of that app/program. I don't need this in my PC. 🤬 P.S. Yes, it's a good question, Mat.
  7. Yes, thank you. It's the way I get rid of the problem--but it comes back after a few days. What is a background service? It works now after restarting my PC.
  8. Well, when someone writes here that he has problems with Firefox at the same time as I have, then I assumed we had the same problem. Of course, if it had been specified what Firefox was doing, it would be clearer. My explanation was not clear either. Now, I will be specific: my problem was gone for three days and, again now, it acts up. The window says: Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old firefox process must be close to open a new window. I did not do anything different. So, I closed everything, but it says the same thing. I have to use Google.
  9. I started to get that problem with Firefox a few weeks ago -- twice in a few days -- and it went away on its own. It came back this week for another two days and now it's gone. It tells me that the problem comes from Firefox. I did not experience that problem with Google.
  10. My husband thought he was well-equipped with his 33 years experience in building his own houses in Canada. In Chapala area, we took a contractor to build our house because we did not have any contacts with the trade people, and we did not know what was involved with permits, IMSS, payrolls, material buying (best deal around) etc. So we trusted the contractor, who had been well recommended by someone finishing his house with him. We found out after, that those people had gone over budget around $15,000 US, and it was a smaller house than ours-- (4100 sq feet). They did not ask for granite but medium quality. Our house (4500 sq. feet) took 8 months to build (considered fast) and my husband lost 22 pounds in the process. He was on the site every day from morning until the last worker was out at night. In fact, he had to be there to watch for quality and direct the workers as the contractor was too busy to do his job. He even skimmed on everything on top of asking more money in between for items that should have been included in the first place. We did the shopping for bathrooms, light fixtures, floor tiles, etc. (without him) as he was going to install scrap. We, of course, paid extra for medium quality, which had been detailed in our contract agreement as high quality in the first place. The arguments with him were not worth our time and money. We were not going to take legal procedures (big deal here) so we paid a total of $18,000 over and above we had planned—not included the lot and gardens. Now that we know better, we would not build with a contractor, and my husband would never build himself here. No way!! Friends shopped around for a house, and they (with my husband) inspected the places with a fine comb. Their experience was so easy and fun. Of course, it’s not their own design, but they like it enough, especially knowing that they saved themselves lots of headaches. Our case is not unique. We were advised about building our own house before we started, but we did not really believe it would apply to us as we knew construction enough to avoid their problems. 🤐 NO MORE COMMENT P.S. We wanted to sell our house last year, but we were quoted by RE agents below what it costs to build it now. We have improved the quality and, over the years, added the extra we did not have with construction. Unbelievable! It’s cheaper to buy now than build. You can still figure out to make a few changes, but you would know ahead of time. Good luck for what ever you decide.
  11. Ditto Computer Guy!! I wouldn't get near her with a twelve-foot pole.
  12. My printer needs to be checked. I went, years ago, to a place in Ajijic (not on the highway) but I forgot where, and I'm not sure if he is still there. There was some one in Riberas on the highway but I'm not sure if he repairs printers. Or any other suggestions. Help, please!
  13. Volaris indicates at the beginning that they allow one free luggage (25 kilo) and two carry-ons. They are sneaky and try to fool you. At the end, when it's time to pay, you have an additional amount for the medium luggage that you did not choose, and you cannot change it. Now, they have terms for bags (light, medium and heavy) to justify their cost. Also, if you are not careful, you will also pay for the seats that they choose for you if you don't indicate that you don't require them at this time. It’s also difficult to get rid of it. I booked with Interjet even if it was $38 more. I just can't accept to be fooled. Interjet were sneaky too a while ago, but their web is improved and they are clear.
  14. Hope so cause I was ready to switch for Google for a while already but, it's a nuisance. Thanks for your reply.
  15. I received this note from yahoo. If you haven't heard, Yahoo plans to sell its operating business to Verizon. We anticipate the completion of the transaction to occur in June 2017. At the completion, the Yahoo operating business will join the Verizon family of companies, and Yahoo Holdings, Inc. will be offering the Yahoo services you love and enjoy. Will it change anything?
  16. Wow! Thanks, ComputerGuy. It might just be what happened. This is very clear. I'll work on it again and let you know how it went.
  17. My issue is NOT with the yellow color from feeding them Marigold but with the RED coloring spotting at random and showing in the juice. If that was from food, you would not have this red, definitely red, not yellow.
  18. Years ago, the chicken skin was yellow, yes, but it did not have that red color spotting the skin with whatever tint they use. It's not the feed. I don't see that red anywhere else but at Walmart. It's not spread evenly and definitely shows spots of red tint. Am I the only one noticing this? I laughed when I read this from Chillin: The yellow (for these types of chicken) comes from an underpaid meat department clerk using a paintbrush and natural dye (could very well be from flowers). He might have a point.
  19. I've been doing a lot of things to solve this problem. I succeeded in re-installing my all-in-one with the link (below) except it just did not pick up the right one. 1310 kept coming back and I kept replacing it with 1315. I thought I had it but at the end 1315 was there. The result is that now I have the same problem except with 1310 on my screen but it works the same as before. The PDF file is still missing in my list. I cannot get my files in PDF documents but in pictures. This link (below) is exactly my case. Unfortunately, I've got an additional problem: as I bought everything in Mexico, they picked up that the language did not match. How fussy they are!!! But it did not seem to affect the download because it changed my software. I'm not giving up. I'll try again another time. Right now, after 2 hours of this mess, I need a break. Oh, yes, now I also have something extra: Photosmart Essential and a few more things I don't need. Thanks everyone for your information. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/PSC-1315-software-for-Win-7-won-t-convert-scan-to-PDF/m-p/5325712
  20. The PDF File is not an option any more when I scan from Hp all-in-one computer in windows 7. It suddenly disappeared. All the files that I scanned earlier this month have been changed automatically in JPG in my files. PDF is not supported by Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, so I have to open them in Window Photo Viewer or any other photo programs. I only have JPG, BMP, PNG AND TIF in my scanner list. I have to use a program to convert my JPG into PDF. What a bummer! Did I do anything wrong?
  21. I believe the add coloring to their chicken. You can see red pockets and red juice inside the package. I complained many times and they say that they don't. Others say that they add natural coloring because customers prefer it to white chickens, other say it's that Jamaica Sorrel or whatever. Who is right? It does not look too appetizing to me.
  22. When they mention the best temperature they mean the average temperature, also taking into account rain and humidity. I don't know of one PERFECT place (12 months a year) that would satisfy everybody's own body thermostat. It is true that Chapala has two months of colder temperature (mostly at night) where we have to wear warmer clothes (no boots and gloves though--not for me anyway) and hotter in the spring BUT, as an average, it is not so drastic as northern or southern countries. Most of us know what that means. I lived in Canada and in the Caribbeans for many years. So, to me, Chapala is the best of the two worlds. "Perfect temperature" at least 9 months of the year. I would personally consider 10 months as the warmer spring does not bother me , , , but that's only me--not most people. So 9 months is pretty good.
  23. If you compare the temperature chart of Cuernavaca and Chapala, it's almost the same with a few degrees more or less.
  24. I believe you, Lizzy, and I feel for you as I went through hell myself for two years. I would like to share this information hoping this will help people decide before making a clear choice. What qualifies surgical specialists to place dental implants? Dental implants may be the best option to replace a missing tooth, but remember that there is a difference between “dentists who do implants” and “dental implant experts”. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Periodontists are the only surgical specialists recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). As part of their surgical training, they attend post-graduate residency programs. Oral Surgeons spend an additional four years beyond dental school in a hospital-based residency, including a full year of anesthesia training. Periodontists attend three-year surgical residency programs following dental school. The formal training and education alone is significantly greater for surgical specialists than for general dentists. The following questions can help you determine whether a non-specialist is experienced with dental implant placement. How many surgical training courses has the dentist taken and how long was each course? Did these courses comply with the recommended guidelines for meeting the legal standard of care for surgical implant placement? How many courses has the dentist taken specifically on the management of complications? How many continuing education courses on implants does the dentist attend on a yearly basis? How long has the dentist been placing implants and how many implants does the dentist place each year? Does the dentist refer complex or difficult cases to a surgical specialist? How many bone grafting procedures has the dentist has done? ================================================== I should have known better and be more careful in my choice before I had work done to my teeth because I went through hell just to have amalgams replaced in two good molars. I ended up with root canals, crowns, extractions and finally implants. At least, after my bad experience I did my research and had a specialist do my implants and crowns in Guadalajara with excellent results. P.S. It is true that Dr. Haro's office quotes us in US$. They will convert it if you want to pay in pesos, but they still go by the value of the US as most of his clientele are foreigners. He makes a mint right now.
