  1. LOL! Paranoid expat? Not! And I've been here 25 years on May 1st. I believe it is better labelled as "street smart"... in any country. Or as my mother would say "count the pennies and the dollars will accumulate".
  2. If they give too much change, I always point it out. I have also informed waiters that I haven't been charged for something that should have been on the bill. You can't (shouldn't) take advantage of anyone.
  3. No steak tartare for me. Not ever. Rafterbr's explanation left me off the hook for medium rare filet. Thanks!
  4. In a perfect world, what you order is what you receive. Even in Canada, that is not always the case and errors can occur from the shipping end. Lots of ways to screw up. I pay with my credit card and that solved the problem (for me) of being shortchanged. BTW, being short changed also happens in both Oxxo and the 711 (now closed).
  5. Try and keep up Andy. Some people just don't feel the need to explain themselves more than once. Considering that you posted in the thread in which her comment was made, the onus is on you for not remembering the content. I prefer to make my decisions in life based on my own opinions and research. However, everyone else is also entitled to do the same. Stop badgering other people's opinions. It makes you look pathetic.
  6. She has explained herself before. It's up to you to connect the dots. Ferchrissakes, stop being such a curmudgeon.
  7. It's the 1/4 inch thick that is going to be the problem.
  8. Too many digits in the cell number. Should be 331-026-5450
  9. Considering the number of countries and people who have taken the Sinovac, don't you think anything bad would have been reported long before now?
  10. I believe that you will find it in Gourmet Garage. In the freezer and called Beyond Meat (burger shapes).
  11. Andy Panda answered you. All I did was correct MostlyLost's link. Other than that, I have no knowledge of TotalPlay.
  12. I contacted him last week at 333-492-6851
  13. It snowed last night... 8:00 am: I made a snowman. 8:10 - A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman. 8:15 - So, I made a snow woman. 8:17 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere. 8:20 - The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead. 8:22 - The transgender man..women...person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with detachable parts. 8:25 - The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with. 8:28 - I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white. 8:31 - The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be covered up . 8:40 - The Police arrived saying someone had been offended. 8:42 - The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role. 8:43 - The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction. 8:45 - TV news crew from CBC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied "Snowballs" and am now called a sexist. 9:00 - I was on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather. 9:10 - I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services. 9:29 - Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be arrested. By noon it all melted Moral: There is no moral to this story but, if it snows, make snowballs and throw them at everyone.
  14. I have been running vinegar through mine.
  15. Too funny! It's behind twelve foot walls.
  16. Me either. The link is broken. In the past, I have had a lot of trouble trying to match blown glass glasses. I opted to go with mix and match complimentary colours. It sure took the headache out of trying to match anything that got broken. Helps to pinpoint which wine glass is yours as well.
  17. I don't have a solar water heater but do have an on demand water heater. My little 180 litre propane tank was last filled in December of 2019. And I absolutely know that none of my gas pipes leak because they are outside. I cook, I use hot water for bathing and washing the dishes. I'm very happy especially considering that the last house we rented needed to have the 300 litre tank filled every two months.
  18. Sigh. I was given the receipt when I was in the tent waiting for the vaccine but I didn't get the vaccine. Sort of a humourous situation which is a$$ backwards to everyone else's experience.
  19. ROTFLMAO! I went the last day in Chapala and I have my receipt in my hot little hand but then none of us got the vaccine because they ran out. I had the Doctor, who made the announcement, write across the top that I hadn't actually received the vaccine. Then he signed and dated it.
  20. Perhaps this article will put the danger into perspective... https://wintoncentre.maths.cam.ac.uk/news/communicating-potential-benefits-and-harms-astra-zeneca-covid-19-vaccine/?utm_source=Nature+Briefing&utm_campaign=e0241f75ca-briefing-dy-20210409&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c9dfd39373-e0241f75ca-45565550
  21. Agree with using a business. Quickblinds can do that with their staff installer. But they also fix fans and many times it's just the capacitor which is a very, very easy fix as Mudgirl has already pointed out. Lemme see now... 50 pesos and a service call or 3500 pesos up for a quality fan? No brainer imho. The fan does not need to be taken down and apart to fix most problems. Do not buy cheap fans! The aggravation is simply not worth the price. My preference is Hampton Bay and one of the fans in this house is now 20 years old. It was also converted to a remote control. I have no idea if Quickblinds has insurance for their staff.
  22. LOL! Chillin' says ceiling fans are so inexpensive... so just HOW and WHO do you think takes down an old ceiling fan and a new ceiling fan gets installed? Uh huh. Requires a ladder.
  23. The one that most people have is 300 litres but it is usually never filled past 85%. My tank is 180 litres (I wanted the space and the old tank was 20 years old).
