  1. Yes, only people using the libramiento or arriving from the west are allowed to shop in Walmart.
  2. Ouch! It was bad enough turning left onto the carretera from Revolucion even before the bicycle path went in. I feel for you!
  3. Damn. Now it's running through my head too. All time classic rock. Updates on the fires?
  4. https://tienda.dianadiaz.com.mx/senegence/lipsense/?mpage=5
  5. If you can't find it locally, it is available on Amazon Mexico and Mercadolibre. I just typed in "lipsense" to search both sites. Mercado Libre has a bigger selection... https://listado.mercadolibre.com.mx/lipsense#D[A:Lipsense]
  6. Yup. And staying in a resort atmosphere does not properly address doing normal every day household chores in that heat and humidity... nor does having to buy a car with air conditioning so you can get the butter home before it melts.
  7. Fred, I think most people are grown up on this forum and we all made the decision to move to Mexico and received a lot of negative feedback from friends and family in our original country of residence. We are also older now and have different needs including availability of medical care. That item certainly wasn't high on my priority list when we moved to Mexico in 1996. I recommend that anyone moving to Mexico rent for a full year before purchasing a home here and to keep your "stuff" in storage should you decide it's not for you. So, I offer the same advice to anyone changing location within Mexico... and I wish to hell that I had heard from anyone about summers on the coast of Nayarit before we sold our San Miguel de Allende house and built one in San Pancho, Nayarit.
  8. Winds should peak again this afternoon around 5 pm from the WSW. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/mx/ajijic?cm_ven=localwx_10day I hope they keep dumping the water.
  9. The young man who walks my dog reported at 7:30 am that the fire is nearly out. Here's hoping it stays that way. Kudos to the Bomberos!
  10. I know and remember that you also already have a house there. Wishing you the very best in your future endeavours.
  11. If you're buying, get a rotary cutter as opposed to the large guillotine style cutting knife. I used my rotary cutter for well over twenty years with no problems and no decrease in efficiency. Still have all my fingers too.
  12. In considering either Chiapas or Oaxaca, you may want to concentrate on one line in the above Joni Mitchell song... "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone". I'll stay here. I chose the east side of Ajijic specifically because of the traffic congestion and have everything I need within five minutes. I also chose a one level, small one bedroom house and small garden for easy maintenance and care. Look before you leap.
  13. You can also search on Facebook for smaller local rental companies. Mark Turford (333-398-9045) rents cars and so does Antonio Regalado. Here is another one...
  14. imho, if there is cargo involved then you should tip. That includes luggage or groceries. IF I have to put the groceries in and take out the trunk (same for luggage) then I do NOT tip. I appreciate being helped.
  15. Agree Jreboll. There are pointed questions that must be asked. Like "After I go through this chemotherapy (or whatever) how much time will it add to my life?" Between that answer and understanding whatever hell you will endure while taking the treatment, it comes down to quality of life not length of life.
  16. Yup. It's been a process. Thank heaven for competition. At one point I had Telmex, iLox and TotalPlay. Dumped iLox first and then Telmex. TotalPlay is the most consistently reliable service here. Hands down.
  17. I don't call being without telephone service for over six weeks a minor problem. Incidentally, it wasn't Telmex who repaired it. I had someone trace my line to the junction box at the top of a pole around the corner from my house. The wire connection was corroded. He snipped off the corroded parts of the wire and re-attached it. It would have been simple for four different Telmex repair men to have done the same thing. Pathetic service. I don't have any problems with Telcel.
  18. Nope. Missed it by six years. LOL.
  19. Some people also have allergies to some of the ingredients (fillers) of a capsule or the capsule material itself.
  20. There are so many spelling errors, grammatical errors and punctuation errors in posts on forums, that I just let it roll off my back. If you understand what the poster is trying to say then don't bother trying to correct them.
  21. He meant a reciprocating saw which means the blade moves forward and backward. All you've got to do is hold the handle and the saw does the work. In this case, it requires a blade for metal.
  22. What they offer and what they deliver are very different things depending on where you are located.
  23. I would also recommend iherb.com and/or iherb.com.mx They are very reasonable in price and offer an extensive line of brand name vitamins and supplements. The price is as stated with no extra charges added. An order usually arrives within a week and I have my orders sent to iShop in San Antonio Tlayacapan so that I can pick them up at my convenience.
  24. Wondering if they've had to increase their prices due to the number of customers that they've lost.
