  1. I recently was taken here after a cardiac emergency. Although the medical care was fine, the checkout process was very stressful especially since I was there as a heart patient. First, although the doctor was ready to discharge me around 10:00am, I was held up until after 4:00pm waiting for insurance clearance that never came. To add to the aggravation, I was billed for an extra day's stay because I was in the room past the discharge time. Reading many other comments on Facebook, I see that over billing is a common practice here. Beware!
  2. Check out the brand new rendition of HouseSitMexico where you can find qualified house sitters or look for house sitting opportunities for yourself in Mexico. Check out the website at HouseSitMexico.com and if you sign up now, there's a 50% off coupon for a limited time.
  3. RVGRINGO, iShop encourages sharing and they seem to be doing quite well.
  4. My partner and I have different last names and we have had a mailbox their for 5 years with no problem.
  5. Yes, but it happens all the time.
  6. I'm looking to share a mailbox, preferably at Handy Mail beginning no later than September 1. It can be an existing box or starting up a new one. Please PM me with your response. Thank you.
  7. Anybody driving or flying to US in the next week? I need a small package dropped off at USPS. Thank you.
  8. I need to return a small package to the U.S. in the next week. It weighs less than 2 lbs. and is approximately 8"x8"x6". I has a prepaid USPS label and can be dropped at any USPS or FedEx office or box. Anyone heading that way soon? PM me to arrange details. Thank you.
  9. Ditto. Where and when can I get an appointment?
  10. I'm in the middle of an important print job that I need to complete before the copy shops are open in the morning and I've run out of ink! Does anyone have one or two HP 60 black ink cartridges that I can buy or borrow and replace? Reply here or call me on my cellphone at 331-944-7845. Muchas Gracias!
  11. We drove to the Salinas Cruz area about 2 1/2 years ago via RT 200 from Manzanillo. It was a pleasant and safe drive at that time, but I'm not sure I'd feel the same traveling through Guerrero now, whether on 200 or the Toluca-Acapulco autopista. I would opt for the route bypassing D.F. to the north and around Puebla to Oaxaca city and then Salinas Cruz. Other than the major cities, I don't have any hotels to recommend.
  12. I think it's a great idea for an informational seminar at LCS. If anyone here has the knowledge and information to present such a seminar, I suggest that they stop into the LCS office and get it on the schedule.
  13. Navajoa is a long 10 hour drive from here, but it's doable in one day if you get an early start. There is a Best Western on the north end of town that I believe is pet friendly. There may be others in the area, too.
  14. Oh, puleez! That's plain right wing paranoia. UNESCO does wonderful work around the world recognizing world heritage sites.
  15. The Chapala Plus bus that runs from/to Guadalajara and Chapala no longer operates into Ajijic on the Carretera. The Directo via the Libramiento runs each hour with the last bus to Guad leaving Ajijic at approximately 7:30 pm.
  16. Another alternative if coming from Austin is to cross at Laredo/Nuevo Laredo or Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras and proceed through Saltillo to Concepcion del Oro, about another hour south on the road to Zacatecas. This is a newly widened road and is faster and cheaper than the route through Matehuala and San Luis Potosi. There is a small, secure hotel in Concepcion with an attached simple restaurant. I haven't traveled with dogs, but we had no problems staying there with a cat last year. If you'd like more details on this route, let me know.
  17. is enjoying another day in paradise
