  1. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I really don't see Ajijic as a Pueblo Magico when compared to others.

  2. I don't mind you sitting in the bleachers as long as you don't ever infect anyone else. That, for me, is the kicker... to be an asymptomatic carrier and to unintentionally infect and/or kill someone else and/or a member of their family. In protecting yourself, you protect others. Yes, variants will evolve but they will more easily evolve in unvaccinated people. The buck stops with YOU doing your part.

  3. The salient point of the story is that in this IT office, there were 5 cases, resulting in 2 deaths and 2 more hospitalizations. NONE were vaccinated while a fellow employee who is vaccinated, did not get the virus. My feelings towards the unvaccinated is that they will prove Darwin correct once again.

  7. If I told some of my Mexican neighbors the costs listed above to live in a retirement home, they would probably offer their entire family to look after you and at a fraction of the costs. ☺️

  8. "The Feast day of San Antonio is celebrated on June 13, the date of his death in 1231. In Mexico there are more than 60 communities hosting 9-day fiestas to honor San Antonio each June. At Lake Chapala, local legend ensures that the annual rains will surely begin by the Day of San Antonio, June 13." https://www.mexconnect.com/articles/1425-saint-anthony-and-john-the-baptist-june-festivals-at-lake-chapala/ I for one cherish the Mexican ability to party down and chill out frequently. Sure, the noise is annoying. But the celebrations started long before any expats arrived here and will conti

  9. IMHO, it is the same chronic bitching about everything the government does locally. Can´t you people ever see anything good in the evolution of events and enjoy what we have instead of being constantly negative?

  10. Well then, shut up about the traffic lights in SAT since you don´t live here. Your "come back" was hardly worth an answer.

  11. It's not that they'd do better. It's to prevent him from enacting several of the dangerous proposals he has in mind for 2nd half of his term. Gaining more seats would give a better chance of achieving this before it's too late. I AM a Mexican citizen, but will say no more because I want to respect the rules of this board.

  13. We went back multiple times, though not for burgers. Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding; and also the aforementioned Fish n Chips. And a few other sandwiches. His home-made bangers (which he also sold raw in a few different flavors/styles) were excellent; we kept some in our freezer. Ribs, but they may have been on special, not regular menu. Don't remember exact prices, but they were certainly not out of line with other eateries at that time. Not by a long shot.

  15. Choosing to remain unvaccinated is really selfish. It is for those with such sociopathic tendencies that mandated vaccination is needed.

  18. I don't think folks are getting their jollies by constantly complaining, but are simply frustrated by what actually happens instead of what could be. You can enjoy what we have, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be more...and then to see such half-assed efforts get awarded "Pueblo Magico" ...

  20. In this weeks Guadalajara Reporter there are 3 Obituaries. I would like to acknowledge the passing of Ralph Courtney . Both he and his wife worked tirelessly for the community by giving of their time, talents and cash in the following manner. I first met Ralph and his wife Pat when they were members of St Andrews Church and Ralph besides being i/c of the church maintance, both were very involved in organizing the clothes sales section of the annual Regalorama Bazaar. That section of the event was by far the top money raiser due to their organizational skills. The event was thought up by

  22. If you haven't gotten your first jab, go right now to the Instituto Tecnológico. Short lines, lots of chairs, English speakers, VERY organized. Bring a copy of vaccine registration, CRUP, and IMN card front and back. Also proof of residency - we are renters and used a TelMex bill in our landlord's name. Open until 4 pm. It took us about an hour start to finish. Very impressive.

  24. CAT LOVERS Lakeside - URGENT ALERT Two months ago, there were about 50 wonderful cats of all colors and personalities in the Riberas Cat Shelter. Then there were 87, today (and I don’t know the exact number, but I think, over 100) in overcrowded suites, and at least another 20 or more kittens. Many people are going north, and not taking their cats with them, instead taking them to the shelter. There is NO MORE ROOM. Now they have to be turned away, and will end up on the streets. There is a DESPERATE NEED FOR ADOPTIONS. If you are in a position to give some of them a “Forever”

  26. Huh??? Restaurants here have charged IVA (embedded in their prices) for a long long time. We went to Magana's at least monthly since we arrived in 2008 until he moved. I don't at all remember his prices jumping towards the end. You said you went ONCE....me thinks you are making things up.

  27. The article was by the Associated Press (in case you didn't notice). That's about as central as is possible right along with Reuters.... Unvaccinated Missourians fuel COVID: 'We will be the canary' (msn.com) I'm not living in fear. I'm living with knowledge and will protect myself and those I care about from those who are ignorant. I like Bisbee's Darwin theory principle though. Pretty soon there will be no right leaning ME, ME, ME's any more and the world can get back to living in harmony and taking care of each other. THAT benefits us ALL.

  30. So rain now can´t be part of the "rainy season", do they make that same distinction with snow falls, that can´t be part of the "snowy season"? Only if everything is in a certain alignment? If it rains, it rains, and if it don´t, it don´t. What difference does that make to the rainfall total for the year? Are we supposed to pretend that no rain has fallen the last few days?
