  1. Because delivery to the home is usually in the afternoon and I'm napping. Been there, done that. Someone knocked, the dogs barked and I just about levitated off the bed. Also, when there is only one person in the household, you are stuck in the house waiting. Absolutely worth it to me to have things delivered to a third party that is always there except Sunday.

  3. One of my first favorites here all those years ago when it was run by Lorri and her husband (who then went on to create Charlottes around the corner). My go to favorite has always been the Mahi Mahi fish and chips. Hard to get a way from this but recently have been experimenting with other specials on thier large chalkboard menu. Now I cannot resist ordering the Sopa Azteca (also known as tortilla soup). A large bowl of thick tasty broth with strips of fried tortilla, small white cheese squares, some pieces of avocado and who knows what else!!! This starter is almost a full meal, however a few days ago I ordered this and another special, a shrimp burrito. This consists of the nicely cooked shrimp, lettuce, melted cheese and a few chunks of avocado. Nice!!! This large burrito comes cut in 2 and I took one half home. All this plus 2 Modelo Negras for $250 (before tip)!!! Lake Taco is located just off the Libreimento behind the gas station and next to the car wash. Extremely pleasant outdoor setting under a palapa roof and service is very good and efficient.

  5. If anyone but the dealership who is selling you the car told you this at the time of purchase, I would consider it yet another rumor.

  7. Taxis are cheap so no reason to not use them if you don't have a car. I'm lucky and have a car and bike. So no need for bus or taxi. But I see why someone would like a taxi over the bus if they can afford it.

  9. We also live in Riberas and use taxis all the time. We have a regular taxi we call and usually try to do it an hour before we will need him. If he is not available he will send another taxi. We also get Taxis at the taxi stands in the plazas in Chapala and Ajijic. You can also usually get taxis at Walmart and Soriana. For trips to Guadalajara and the airport we make arrangements a day or two in advance. We have even had them pick us up at 3 in the morning. The buses start on time in the morning but later in the day you never know what time they will show up but usually not over 15 minutes for a wait. In the afternoon and evening they will be so far off schedule you will often find one bus following another one.

  12. I just return calls I miss that are made by people whose numbers are in my contacts. I shudder to think how many messages, in Spanish, I would get from solicitors, banks, etc. not to mention those from creditors of the former owner of my number if I had voice mail. The text messages they leave are bad enough.

  13. I don’t have the amigo plan but the 199 pesos a month telcel plan. It does not include voicemail for some reason. Each time a voicemail is opened it is about 4 pesos charge. I guess more expensive plans give free voicemail. I really don’t need it as no one calls me. 😂🤣

  14. I use both Amazon US and Amazon MX and get delivery right to my house by whoever they use. Ama MX is mostly Prime shipping and usually gets here 2-3 days early. Just got my Mezcal as we speak 2 days early. Why make things more complex and more expensive with third parties?

  15. If you want choices of styles, sizes and finishes then shop Amazon or Amazon Mexico. I have purchases sent to iShop in San Antonio Tlayacapan but I do not have a mail box there. They charge between 30 to 50 pesos per box depending on the size and weight. You can track your purchases so you know when they arrived there and pick up at your convenience. If you put in the address below and choose it as your default address then whatever you are looking for on Amazon.com will state, below the item description, whether or not it ships to Mexico. When you check out, you will see the shipping costs and import duties if either is applicable to your purchase. Your Name c/o iShop Carr. Chapala-Jocotepec #144 San Antonio Tlayacapan, Jalisco 45900 Mexico Número de teléfono: Your Phone number (land or cell)

  24. Just FYI, We gave all of those avacados away, for free. Every restaurant we went to, gave avacados. We loaded our car and went driving, stopped at construction sites and gave them away. I'm thinking that some we gave away probably got sold at the local markets.
