  1. After looking at various options in security camera systems, I decided to buy from SIAS TECH. They are located in San Antonio across from the Corona distributor. I went to the store, and they had all the different cameras on display and hooked up to a monitor so I could see the difference. The features of each camera were explained and demonstrated by Alberto. I wanted one indoor camera and three outdoor cameras. I wanted motion sensors and alarms that I could turn off/on and set the sensitivity via my phone. After determining the package I thought would suit me best, Alberto offered to meet me at my home and verify that this setup would work best for me. That afternoon, Alberto arrived and made a few suggestions for changes after seeing my home/property layout. I agreed with his changes, which were insightful and demonstrated his hands-on experience with these systems. Alberto presented me with a quote for the system, including all “extras” and installation. He asked for a 70% deposit, which I thought was reasonable considering the cost of the equipment was the vast majority of the camera system versus that of the labor. We set a time for the installation a few days later. The level of service I received during the whole process of purchasing this camera system is the primary reason I am writing this post. Alberto arrived and provided the most professional installation of anything I have ever had installed in Mexico (been full time since 2008). He laid out all the cables with concealment in mind. He brought with him the PVC channels that hide the cables and can be painted for the few cables that could not be hidden. He used a level, drill, and the proper wall fasteners to install the power box/CPU, and concealed it in my home where it is not visible. Next, he asked for our cell phones and programmed them for the camera systems. He downloaded the apps and taught us to use them. He later sent me a user guide that I have yet to open because the system works great, and I have been taught how to use it. Before leaving, he swept the floors and removed all the debris, boxes, packaging, etc. We have all had different experiences with services here, from excellent to bad. I think that those businesses that provide outstanding service should be recognized for that, so others that may be looking for something similar have another option. For reference, I have no financial interest in this business. For those wondering if this is something that fits in the budget, my total cost was approximately 11,000 Pesos. PM me if you need more information.

  2. Definitely hiring someone who does aljibe cleaning regularly for this job. He will have the tools to do it right and know how to avoid problems like damaging the aljibe.

  3. I got an original Constancia for both of us this morning. Took 10 minutes at 9:15 AM. I went to the papeleria that luvsdawgs recommended. It is on Ramon Corona in SAT. Turn toward the lake at Ishop, continue down to Ramon Corona, turn left. Go past Jesus Garcia which is the calle that Panino is on ( one way, up from Ramon Corona). The papeleria is a long block from Jesus Garcia on the left. It is on the corner of Privada Ramon Corona which is not a thru street. You should take your RFC number and CURP number, that's all. 100 pesos for each Constancia. She gives it to you on 2 sheets of paper which I then had her make copies back to back. Could not have been any easier. It is a Cyber location also. FYI- If you want to make any changes to your account you must go to SAT in Guadalajara.

  7. As far as my observation goes, the overloaded transport vehicles are the primary cause of traffic accidents in Mexico, even if they are not directly involved. When a vehicle is incapable of traveling more than 20 kms/hour where the speed limit is 60-80, with 2 kms of cars backed up behind them, drivers get so frustrated that they try to pass where it is not safe to do so. This why they have weigh stations up north that transport vehicles are required to pull into. I remember driving up the Olympic peninsula in Washington, where the highway is 2 lane and quite curvy, with very few safe places to pass- there were signs saying that any vehicle that had 5 or more other vehicles stuck behind them are required by law to pull off the highway and let those vehicles drive by.

  8. And a wire brush is most definitely not the right tool for the job, even if one is doing the cleaning oneself.

  9. Your joint owner comment about BBVA is odd as I have had a joint checking account for many years with separate credit cards and debit cards. The phone app requirement is correct. The phone acts as a security device for credit card purchases since the physical card does not carry a CVV. You set up a digital card and use it for all electronic purchases.

  11. After reading your list of candidate cities/areas and your comments on clubs, it is obvious that money considerations are not a concern for your family. With that in mind, my suggestion for your Strong Consideration would be Queretaro, which has a very large influx of young people and families that work from the Internet.(more coming every day) Yes, it is an expensive city(yet much cheaper than SMA), very modern, but with a beautiful Centro Historico, excellent year round weather (except April/May, which is hot everywhere in Mexico). Excellent/modern private schools, many beautiful and safe areas to live, with all amenities/parks, etc. Lots of modern sports activities available for all ages. Excellent medical/dental/hospital/airport/transportation. I think that once you look into Queretaro, the more you will feel it is where you will want to be.

  12. One note??? Historic Inflation, doubling of gas prices, record number of illegal immigrants flooding border, record drug flow across the border, historic crime wave, record murder rates, corking Keystone pipeline, green lighting Russian pipeline, supply chain boondoggle, infant formula fiasco, catastrophic Afghanistan pullout…and all in the last 18 months!!! Beethoven could create an entire symphony with all these notes, and I am sure that I have left some out!!! And yes, this is, and will continue affecting us here well into the future…and it is just starting!!!

  13. Many thanks for this information. Last year I had a camera system installed for my building (five cameras total). It was a disaster and I ended up paying 20,000 Pesos. I will definitively ask him for help once I have a budget available. The guys that did the work have a flight by night operation so I have no name to give. (it was friends of a friend....😒).

  16. This from New York Magazine: Trump has shattered norms with his willingness to brazenly use his authority to benefit friends, associates, and allies who could help his political aims. Yet, despite the personal nature of his pardon pen, he apparently began offering pardons to anyone in his vicinity after his election loss, reportedly telling one adviser he was going to pardon “every person who ever talked to me” regardless of whether they asked for one or had committed a crime.
