  3. Seems like they taketh away more than they giveth, EVERY TIME !! I dropped Part B shortly after we moved here. Even with several short hospitalizations and numerous doctor bills along the way since 2004, we're way ahead. The problem I saw was finding a doctor who would take a new Medicare patient in the U.S. and the expense of getting there and staying while the problem was taken care of. I've been happy with my care in Mexico.

  8. This is a misleading statement... and 'under the sheets' it may not even be correct. Whatsapp does share 'information' with other "Facebook" companies. It may or may not be what we construe to be 'our data' but there is cross-talk between platforms. Also, I for one would NEVER make the bold statement that companies like and especially Facebook don't 'use' your data in ways that we don't know and that we did NOT specifically get a change to say yea or nay about. I think that it is naive to assume otherwise just because 'they' said so.

  9. I would not hesitate to buy a unit when completed. Just think about it, every morning you will be able to breath in all the exhaust fumes caused by the well maintained Coca Cola trucks and at no additional costs. ☺️

  10. Turn south on street on the east side of Strom Movers parking lot. One block south, turn right on Zaragoza. Go 2 blocks and on the Southwest corner is Beto"s. Six or seven different burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, onion rings, pulled pork and more. I had the double which reminded me of an In and Out burger. Excellent meat, juicy and, cooked perfectly! Great burger in walking distance from home....I'm happy!

  12. At first, I believed it to be a major outage over a large area. Yes, there was an outage, but the outage was over a much smaller area than I thought. The great thing was, that CFE came through and had the power back on in the very early afternoon

  16. It's definitely on colon. While waiting for my cocktail I walked a few short steps up to the atm at Bancomer. Twelve of us ate their on Wednesday and were very pleased. Yes it's pricey, but the whole experience was worth it. The food was fabulous, try the French onion soup! They open at 3 pm, don't know what time they close.

  17. Backup systems can now be whole home (including water pumping and heavier loads) or "essential loads" as Pete mentions. Both kick in automatically when needed and can be based on several different types of battery technology including li-ion (which cost more upfront but are cheaper in the long run and with no maintenance either).

  20. Ah ah.... So same as Facebook albeit on a much smaller scale. .... And you probably are not aware that Whatsapp has business accounts they charge for. Did you know in India Whatsapp is the primary source of contact for many small business?? Generally, the charges are between 5cents and 9cents depending on your location. WhatsApp business charges in India, for example, are not yet fixed, but they are around ₹ 5 to 6 for a single message. The bottom line is that even though you need to pay for certain services on the app, they aren’t too costly. So it's is to Whatsapp's advantage to furnish the service free to non business users to enhance the use by business users where they profit And I am no more naïve than you are.

  21. I never said that wasn't true and I do use Whatsapp. I said that while Whatsapp is free to the user, you can bet that the provider is gleaning data from it. This forum is free to use because the forum administrators are using it to attract people to their real estate business. It's an advertising venue for them. Most public forums run on that basis.

  22. So What do you think this web board gains? You pay nothing to access it.. If you think it's free you must be truly naïve. Meta makes it's money from targeted advertising on it's various platforms. Since Whatsapp does not display advertising how does Meta benefit? If you use Facebook, or Snapchat then your information is shared. If you remember at one time before Facebook bought Whattsapp they charged 99 cents uUS for a years service and were profitable so Facebook's costs are nothing to run this app. Again Google knows far about you and about more people than Whatsapp or Facebook will ever know. Every search you ever made, what computer-pad-phone you use, every Google Maps search, where you visited, where you ate, what route you drove to get there, what time you go to bed, what time you get up, what you like to buy and where, if you visited a doctor's office, attorneys office, etc. Last thing I would worry about is a messaging service. Google is even tracking movements of people in cities for Covid transmission. If you actually want to download everything Google knows about you you can but you will need to buy a huge multi terabyte storage device and tie up your computer for a few days.

  25. If you are planning a trip anytime between now and March 21 2023, domestic or international you may want to check out the Volaris website. Tickets purchased by 11-16 (Tuesday) will enjoy a 70% discount! For example fly GDL to Oaxaca round trip for select dates in January ....$55 US including an extra piece of carry-on luggage... $22 if you only need a 'personal' carry-on bag! Similarly round trip GDL to Orlando $275 w/extra bag. I normally pay.... $275-$300 one-way from Denver to Guadalajara. Now I could fly that route round trip for that same $275 on select days, including the extra bag! Don't tarry 'tho..... ends Tuesday.

  26. The average EV is currently getting about 4 miles (6km) per kWh. For solar electric system users, this means that each added panel (using 400 watt size panels here) would give them about 12 km per day of driving range, (84 km per week per panel) and stay at the same place with their CFE bills. Many ways to play with this, as not everyone drives everyday, or for different distances, just a starting point for reference.

  27. OK.... can't stand it any longer. If no canned spinach is not easily available here, WHY can't the people seeking buy some fresh or frozen and simply cook the amount required ( to death) to equal volume of canned needed?

  28. Opportunity for what? Be ignored still? The problem around here isn't our neighbors, it is our government that does very little outside of Chapala itself. Sorry, years of deteriorating everything around here unless volunteers take care of the government's work ourselves has made me a bit cynical.

  29. You have that right, Bisbee Gal. No Facebook or WhatsApp, and since there are others like me who don't care to have their information sold, he should put his information in a more generally accessible place: like the weekly paper, with phone numbers and/or and an email address.

  30. A friend of mine recommended this place so I tried to get an appointment and because I spoke perfect Spanish my appointment was declined. I obviously didn't know this at the time, so I went in person with my friend who's from Mexico and we encountered a very disappointing attitude, as soon as we asked the owner about pricing for colour and haircuts she said she doesn't work with "latin hair" as in she doesn't want Mexican clients. Very sad to see this coming from a Mexican business in Mexico! I am personally from Canada but because I speak good Spanish and was with my friend she treated us like we were leppers and then quoted a ridiculous amount so we wouldn't go... 750 pesos for a haircut and 5 thousand pesos for highlights. Please don't support these types of businesses, discrimination is not ok!

  31. The 5.3% cost of living increase that the U.S. Federal government indicates does not include food and fuel. The 5.9% COLA would not make much of a dent if we lived NOB, I fear.
