The answer to the OP's question is no, probably not by any government as high inflation creates unrest and political change. I would expect inflation in the US to resonate at least somewhat in Mexico. We are NOB at the moment and the inflation is quite noticeable here. Also more than a few bare spots on store shelves. Amazing how we can't seem to discuss anything here without it degenerating into personal sniping. đ5 points

Got them[chofer, motocyclete] here in Chapala yesterday. Luis from Spencer's office did everything for me. Picked me up,drove me back and even brought a folding chair for me. His charge: $400p each for the service. Worth every centavo! pedro kertesz3 points

Wow, that will cost Pedro more than a week's worth of cigars or a bottle of his beloved Mescal. The least I can do is match his donation. PM me with your location or can I drop off a donation at the shop? I remember, when I first visited the LCS campus 10 years ago, seeing the HHWT volunteers and students working away. I was impressed. One of the reasons I joined the LCS. SunFan3 points

Why would you need any government to tell you about an inflation rate??? Cannot you tell just by comparing what is going out of your pocket today compared as to what was going out say a year ago for the same things??? I don't trust ANY government: Mexican, U.S. or any other!!!2 points

I am starting to wonder if the inflation numbers reported by the Mexican Central Bank are really a true representation. As one example, today I had to go to a hardware store with one of my workers and just happened to look at the price of stationary gas tanks. The 180 liter was listed at 8,770.00 Pesos. 2 years ago I bought the same tank for 4,500.00 Pesos (yes, almost double). These tanks are manufactured in Guadalajara so go figure. On a minor note, the Costco Hot Dog price increased a little over 30 percent. Have wages gone up to reflect this ? I doubt it. đ1 point

That is a great way to approach that, since my experience with the staff there last February was horrible. They made me go back home twice, since my phone bill said I had 4 pages to it, when only 3 existed, did not even have a blank page to count as page 4. I am sure use of Luis can avoid some staff attitudes like that.1 point

1. The repaving of the Ajijic carretera is a federal project...no local input 2. This morning Hector, Bob Howe and I celebrated the completion of the malecon bridges maintenance. The Garden Guild was invited, but, cited Covid concerns. Fotos to follow. 3 The original wood was supplied by the Lakeside Garden Guild. Other materials were supplied by Inside Lakeside Hosted by Bob Howe, and Chapala Sunrise Rotary. The labor was supplied by the municipality. This to the best of my recollection and the sign.1 point

Itâs been well known for many years that the US govt hasnât been truthful about itâs inflation rate. We shouldnât expect the Mexican govt to be any different. Those of us on fixed incomes are the most affected.1 point

First, you should know that Costco subsidizes its snack bar and its roasted chickens, and they take a loss on most of it, but it sure keeps the customers coming, so I don't think that's an indicator, lol. Don't know nuthin' 'bout 'nflation, but I do know the pandemic has caused the most unbelievable things to skyrocket in price, what with all the stalled container ships, export fees, government-imposed tariffs, loss of workers, etc. And yeah, that's a bit scary for a tank.1 point

Tecnically Mexicans are caucasians if they have no indigeneous blood so good luck on the Spanish whiteness.. if they have indigenus blood then they are from mixed race ,hence la Raza. If indigenous came from Asia then they are Asian and white. As far as the white Spaniards they are mixed with Berberes and Arabs who are white but also mixed with blacks so good luck on the idea of a pure race..1 point

Juts to be clear for all.... you must accept the first thing offered... which is the cost they are charging for your use of that ATM. It's the second one you must reject... where they actually you figures re: what their conversion rate will be. Usually "decline" button is on the bottom left0 points
