  1. On behalf of Mayor Moises Anaya, I would like to express the Mexican community's condolences to the American people and all those who lost loved ones on 9/11. And in this terrible tragedy, all the amazing heroes who ran into danger and gave their lives to save others, we salute your example! Our prayers are with them and all who suffer today! 2. I will admit I have never understood why anyone would think they have the right to force a woman to endure pregnancy against her will. Or why a clump of fetal cells is more important than a woman. There can be a million reasons for having an abortion - one out of four women in the US has had one - and most all I would agree with. But it is not my decision to make. Yes it would be preferable if birth control were safer, cheaper, more easily available and always worked. In a perfect world there would be no rape or incest. There would be no pregnancies gone terribly wrong where the life or health of the mother is at risk. No one would ever be diagnosed with cancer and told that without chemo they would almost certainly die but the fetus would not survive either way. These are very personal decisions to be made by the woman and those she chooses to include, not Brother Billy Bob or Senator only-my mistress-can-have-an-abortion. And yes I have been active in Planned Parenthood since the 70s.

  3. Nice fluffy dough with good fillings. Reasonably priced at 20p. They are calling them Russian empanadas, but they are true piroshki. Located in Plaza Montana in Ajijic. Northeast intersection of carretera and Calle Colon. Russian family with Mom and her grown daughters in the kitchen. They have a take-away window where they also display some of their baked goods, which include the piroshki as well as savory and sweet pies. Their inventory varies day to day and throughout the day. No indoor seating, just a few tables in their 'courtyard' which is just a corner of the parking lot. They sell on the Ajijic plaza on the weekends (weather permitting, they've been washed out for part of the past few weekends). They are fairly new and have changed their hours which are now: Tuesday-Friday 12pm-7pm Saturday, Sunday 10am-2pm at our bakery (6pm-9pm at the plaza Ajijic) From their FB page https://www.facebook.com/rusiamor/ Delicious Russian empanadas for you! We have different flavors: - spinach and cheese - mashed potatoes - mushrooms - ground beef - rajas (chile poblano, corn, cheese) - chicken liver pate - eggplant and goat cheese We sell sweet empanadas, apple pies, Russian cookies, pies for orders and many more things!

  5. Pappysmarket feels he has the corner on logic and reasoning. He thinks you should pass it by him in order to justify. And that is the center of the whole argument. You shouldn’t have to pass everything by an old fogey in order to get it done. It should be a right of a woman.

  6. Maybe governments could offer a $10,000 USD reward to bounty hunters for the assist and arrest of rapists. That should have an effect on unwanted pregnancies.

  7. That was posted in the Mexico General section back on the 17th of July. And it had quite a lot of comments. Eight pages to be exact.

  9. I am also glad they have made this change. However, you still need a requisition form from a Doctor to get any lab or medical test done in Ontario. imho, this wastes valuable time... waiting for an appointment with the Doctor to be able to get those tests. I like to be well armed when/if I have to go to a Doctor. As I said, welcome to the fresh adult air of medicine in Mexico.

  10. Walmart carries Dolce Gusto, Starbucks, and Punta del Cielo pods. Pricing on Amazon Mex is usually a little better, at least for Dolce Gusto.

  13. The kicker is the group of about 10 old guys who meet for coffee outside the Scandinavian Bakery; jammed side by side around a table with no masking and a group of colorful bikes parked nearby. The hot pink one is the winner.

  15. Hahahahaha...you have no idea how I have lived. "White Privilege"...another racist dog whistle. But you didn't answer the question. Are you saying they can't afford birth control? What else can't they afford that society at large should be paying for...since we're on the topic of what people can't afford on their own.

  16. What a typical statement from someone who has never stepped across the tracks and has no idea how the other "half" lives, but throws around his white privilege just like the politicians he votes for.

  17. Hmmm...you mean those people with smart phones, full grocery carts, cigs, drugs, alcohol can't afford to pay for birth control? Hmmm...

  18. I don't recall asking you to "hobnob" with me. Refresh my memory. BTW, do you always have a name for anyone who disagrees, politely, with you? Not the happyjillin I see on this board.

  19. I find it ironic that men feel they have the right to legislate what women can do with their bodies. Too bad they can't get pregnant.😒 Way back before Roe vs. Wade, people went to Mexico to get underground abortions from whoever offered them. Dangerous, of course, and sometimes fatal. However, desperate people do such things. It would be an good thing if they could come here and have the procedure be legal and done under the right circumstances.

  21. Our age group (senior citizens) when young thought of having many children as an asset in a big open often discussed way in my over 40 years being married to Mexicans. I have heard it a hundred times at least. My father-in-law had 11 and I know people even 40 younger years younger with 7, 5, or 4 children. Never have I heard a Mexican say they were concerned about feeding, clothing or educating children and if they did they would probably be laughed at. Your post is NOB ideas not Mexican Catholic ideas.

  23. Aragon and his sons are probably the best go to guys operating Lakeside. They once duplicate an ignition key for my late model Ford and had all the equipment to program the chip in the replacement key as well as get into the CANBUS of the car to set it up. I was very impressed, far less expensive than going to the stealerships..

  24. Gabby and Fernando of Best Labs live just up the road from us and will stop by to collect samples on their way to work. This is fine for standard panels. If it is important though, best to go to Banuelos in Guadalajara. They are vastly more professional than anything local. For example my wife required foot surgery. The surgeons wanted a MRI with contrast to determine how far a toe bone was infected. They needed to know before they went in for amputation. The whole toe or just the tip. I was really impressed with the clinical report and quality of the image
