  1. Au contraire dos! My reading says that the Pfizer jab will get the authorization within several weeks. Moderna, who applied later than Pfizer, will be right on their heels for authorization. J&J I don't think has even requested authorization yet. And your 'possibly it could never happen' is IMO just one of those things that folks throw in without ANY credibility.... just to make their position seem to have some weight, when it doesn't. And..... I think it was not the Secretary of State but rather the HHS Secretary who makes those requests. P.S And isn't it great that the vaccination authorization 'process' has such a 'early use' provision when things like a worldwide pandemic rears its ugly head! The untold hundreds-of-thousands of lives saved by this 'unapproved' vaccine is testimony to it's place in the process. But there will always be those who want to use any and all opportunities to try and undermine the effectiveness of something that they feel doesn't jibe with their slant on life.

  2. You have concluded that it is a 'lack of trust' that is causing the lower rate. In my opinion yours is just an opinion....and when you say 'many' experts do you mean a significant % of the 'experts' are in disagreement? Or maybe is your 'many' a statistically low number but it gives a 'position' on a subject some heightened but 'false' credibility. And IMO calling the current vaccines EXPERIMENTAL gene therapies is disengenuous and flies in the face of something that is actually saving untold lives worldwide.

  5. My grandfather left Russia for America when he was 13 years old. He never saw his family again. He tried to make contact with relatives back there, through various agencies, for years, and finally at the age of 64 got a letter from a cousin. Who said "OMG Joe, we always wondered what had happened to you. It's amazing to be in contact after all these years. I am so sad to have to tell you that your sisters and parents all perished at Auschwitz." Anyone who thinks Holocaust jokes are funny or that it should be used as a comparison to wanting people to be vaccinated against a deadly disease has something seriously wrong with them and is an abhorrent excuse for a human being.

  10. Copied and shared. Well said! “I can’t meet people halfway when the halfway point exists in a conspiratorial land of make believe. This isn’t a both-sides issue. It’s a one-side issue, and you’re either getting the vaccine and helping bail us out of this achingly long pandemic or you’re being ridiculous. I keep hearing how we just need to reach out to the unvaccinated and coax them along and explain why getting the vaccine is important. I bought that when vaccines first came out around the beginning of the year. But c’mon, it’s August. More than 166 million Americans are fully vaccinated, and guess what? You, the willfully unvaccinated, are the reason the deadlier and more contagious delta variant of the coronavirus has unleashed hell across swaths of the country, largely in areas that — surprise! — have low vaccination rates. TheCenters for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that 99% of COVID-19 deaths and more than 97% of COVID-19 hospitalizations now involve people who have not been vaccinated. Which part of this is confusing to you? On Aug. 9, CNBC sent a tweet with a link to a story, and that tweet read “Vaccines are being required for travel — here’s how unvaccinated people feel about that.” As a vaccinated person who has followed the rules laid out by medical experts, I don’t give a ferret’s rear end how unvaccinated people feel about that. If you want to travel, get vaccinated. The Wall Street Journal recently tweeted one of its stories about vaccinations, and the tweet read, in part, that “the unvaccinated are growing testy over being excluded and feeling judged.” Oh, no. You’re feeling testy and judged? How terrible. I’m feeling volcanically outraged that ICU beds in Florida and Texas are filling up with unvaccinated COVID-19 patients of all ages as politically sadistic Republican governors ban mask and vaccine mandates while simultaneously getting ventilators from the federal government and help from out-of-state health workers. It’s awful that you’re feeling excluded from things because you chose to get health advice from a manic pillow magnate and not your doctor. I’ll gladly offer a shoulder to cry on as soon as I STOP WORRYING ABOUT A VACCINE-EVADING VARIANT RISING UP FROM THE UNCONTROLLED INFECTIONS BROUGHT ON BY YOUR TRAGICALLY LOOSE GRIP ON REALITY!!! You, the unvaccinated, are endangering others. And your go-to excuse — “If you’re vaccinated, you’re safe, so why do you care?” — is several steps past ignorant. I am vaccinated, and that does make me quite safe, but I care for reasons I will now recite rapid-fire: Children 12 and under still can’t get vaccinated and more of them are getting sick with the delta variant and there are vulnerable people who can’t get the vaccine for other medical reasons and front-line workers in hospitals are already exhausted and now they’re dealing with a new wave of largely preventable infections and vaccinated people who need non-COVID medical procedures done are being told they have to wait and while most people who get COVID survive there are still concerns about future health issues and some who survive come out with damaged lungs and hearts and other health problems that will cause long-term disability and all of this was horrible when we had no vaccine and little understanding of the virus BUT NOW IT’S HAPPENING WHEN WE HAVE A VACCINE AND ALL IT TAKES TO ADDRESS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE CONCERNS IS FOR PEOPLE TO GET THEIR SHOTS! I’m weeks past caring about the feelings of the unvaccinated-by-choice. I’m not your dad. It’s not my job to gently explain accurate, readily available information so you can turn around and say, “Well, but on the other hand, I read this thing on the internet that said it gives you butt warts.” The same phone you use to send a tweet slamming Anthony Fauci can be used to find information that fully explains why the vaccines are safe. And every minute you don’t get those shots is another minute you’re putting people at risk and contributing to a school being shut down or a mask mandate getting reinstated. If you feel you’re being judged harshly, it’s because you are. I want you to feel uncomfortable. Because it’s high time sane people in this country stopped pretending there’s a middle ground between sensible and selfish. rhuppke@chicagotribune.com 1111

  11. Unless you have a plastic/solid tank using a pressure washer will strip the concrete/parging from inside the tank and then you have another problem as it will no longer hold water. Just because there is sand/silt in the bottom is not a reason to use a pressure washer as there is NO WHERE FOR THE WATER TO DRAIN. Water is most often taken near the top of an aljibe as they are generally in ground tanks.

  12. Why don’t you go back and review this whole thread. It started by Jim Bowie saying “It’s been 12 months, shouldn’t all the non-mask wearers be dead by now?” In other words he was belittling those who advocated mask wearing. And I in essence was saying “not all will die but the risk is still there for you and for others” you have to follow train of thoughts here.

  14. Of course I am passing this along to Hector and the gov. The White House is working on a plan to start offering Covid-19 vaccine boosters to some Americans as early as October. With a stockpile of at least 100 million doses at the ready, the first boosters are likely to go to nursing home residents and health care workers, followed by other older people. Officials envision giving people a third dose of the same vaccine that they originally received. Scientists are still debating whether the extra shots are needed, but administration officials said they could not afford to wait to figure out the logistics of providing boosters to millions of people. This week, the F.D.A. authorized third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for certain people with weakened immune systems and the C.D.C. recommended them.

  21. Certainly understand your frustration, Ferret. Many of us are frustrated and confused. Scapegoating the unvaccinated may not be the answer, however. How can you be so sure of what is responsible for the variant ? Many medical ” experts “ are in disagreement about this topic. Unvaccinated people are often just as afraid of these EXPERiMENTAL gene therapies the pharmaceutical companies are calling vaccines, as you are afraid of this virus. 30 states currently have 50 % or less fully vaccinated people. That speaks volumes about the lack of trust that exists.

  22. The doctor's estimate "half a million Mexicans are being infected daily" makes any of his observations seem questionable. In 30 days 15 million new infections! If his "estimate" was even close to accurate 100% of the population would be infected in just a few months. Unfortunately it is people spouting these insane theories that create doubt in many people about the reality of this pandemic.

  23. The public is misinformed. Point of my post was: We were not green. We were assigned a green category, but it was not based on accurate numbers. What has become red, would have been red if the numbers were accurate! I was of course being sarcastic. If anyone believes in the official rate of infection as stated in Mexico, they are sadly mistaken. In fact: While health authorities are saying that Covid-19 is currently infecting some 20,000 people a day, the actual number is 25 or 30 times higher, according to an infectious disease specialist. https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/coronavirus/daily-covid-infections-far-higher-than-official-counts-says-specialist/

  27. Agree that a lab test is a very good idea, especially since it helps one see how much supplementation might be needed. Studies show that 42 % of people in the US are deficient, and that percentage is much higher among certain groups. According to the Mayo Clinic, Vit D toxicity is rare and requires an individual to take 60,000 units daily for several months. Interestingly, Dr. Fauci has stated that he supplements with both C and D because they can help one fight infections.

Constantly moving forward... radio... portable radio... 8 track...cassettes... iPod... laptops... cell phones... zoom. Progress building on progress. 38. Everyone has their own opinion, now there has become a divide between the vaccinated vs unvaccinated, fortunately I am glad I live in Mexico and there are no rules forced upon us. I am not a big fan of AMLO but just last week he said no mandate or need for the young to be vaccinated unless science can offer more substantial proof that the young need to take the shot. The thing with this vaccination is that it is experimental and there are plenty of guinea pigs who have gone all in and taken it. I have never been one willing to comply with these types of situations but there are many people who are and will. What I have noticed is a lot of deaths from the vaccine, the more concerning thing will be 6-8 months down the road where people will begin having side effects, however, it will be hard to point blame on the vaccine for those issues. I have known several people who have had Covid and came out just fine whereas some of the people I know who have been vaccinated recently are having health issues. At this point I think just live and let live. Mexico has only currently vaccinated about 29% of its people and I find it hard that number will increase drastically unless they begin offering some sort of financial incentive. I think things will get even more interesting as pharma companies begin offering third and 4rth doses and of course as new variants come and the fear wears off there will be new variants coming out, this is now a vicious circle that is not going to stop. From what I can see I think a lot of people have just realized how much they do enjoy drinking Kool Aid.
